  1. Ok done my plugs today checked all the coil packs 3 of them have been replaced and look practically brand new the other 3 are in excellent condition with not even a mark on them. Also done my boost gauge install i used the same line as the controller. Low boost was set on 5psi and high on 14psi which could explain it hitting r & r at 4000rpm tuned back down 10 psi. The plugs that were in it were iridium and varying gaps from 1.1 to nearly 1.6 but overall looked to be in half decent condition on the tips. Now after doing all of this i haven't reset the ecu or anything but fuel consumption has increased should i do a reset because of the different gaps that the iridiums had i replaced them with ngk 0.8mm in 6 heat range. Boost hits hard on 10 psi at 3000 and stays there solid with no spiking at all the controller seems to be doing it's job so i may keep it. Enigine check light came on again tonight so will do a consult tomorrow and maybe reset the ecu at the same time. Any thoughts
  2. They do not touch the ecu however most cars arrive with a flat battery so ecu will reset itself unless it is aftermakret like PFC
  3. No it hasnt got a screen i did take a photo of it and post it in one of my other threads it's an M's T-BAC3 just got 2 buttons and two dilas on it no screen. The vac line runs into a plain black box under the carpet and stops inside the box then a small cable comes out the other side and into the back of controller. Now if the pipe coming in is giving the controller boost pressures if i T piece it will the controller still get the correct reading sorry for the nubness very new to this.

    Stagea Airbox

Im also interested in this only been on the road a couple of days and unwanted police attention already. Only a matter of time b4 i get pulled over and yellowed for the pod and intercooler
  5. ok had a look and took some photo's there is T section in place near the throttle body with a black plastic tube attached i followed this thru the firewall into the cabin and is attached to a small computer with some jap writing on it under the dash on passenger side floor then it goes on thru behind the dash to my boost controller. Do you think it is possible that i may be able to T into again inside the cabin for ease of installation or will it alter the reading the boost controller is getting? The black tube you can see is also running thru the firewall with a small loom which is attached to a relay type thing you can see above the T piece on a metal bracket all of this is connected to the small black box under the carpet in the passenger footwell. Any and all assistance would be very much appreciated.
  6. k thanx i'll have a look
  7. Yes as i described in the post above i found that one but my plenum looks different it has about 3-4 lines out of the back and no front one or it's covered by the neo cover thanx anyway
  8. Im off to buy a boost gauge today i done a search for install pics for the neo but only came up with an r33 guide but my rear plenum looks completely different can someone take a pic of where they pulled the vac line from would be appreciated or link to a pic thanx AndyD

  12. Ok i done mine on thursday the guy at vicroads nice bloke happened to own a tuff looking vl turbo in the carpark (bonus for me) all he was concern about was the vin, compliance plate and engine number other than that he didnt even look at the car he did notice my pod and intercooler being non roadworthy in vic as only one intake mod allowed but he didnt say anything just checked all the numbers matched the paperwork provided and i was on my way out the door with new plates and a smile and $860 lighter for the previledge

Thanx tangles has a few small issues which will be sorted out over the next few weeks new plugs to go in sunday as well as my strut brace that was taken off for compliance. Just gotta save some cash for coils and some type of management be it safc or piggy back undecided at this stage. Thanx for everyone's help and idea's over the last couple of weeks, looking forward to get it on the dyno.

    My Big Day

Oh just as a reference i found one second hand coilpack in the console as well, why they would only do one is beyond me so splitfires will be ordered as soon as my credit card recovers from the hit it has taken so far.
  17. VERY high km's that is why almost guarantee a rebuild as soon as you pick it up add $5000 or more by the time you do turbo's as well it aint as cheap as it sounds. I was looking aorund japan yards the other day good low km 260rs's still going for over 2-2.5 million yen which is about $22,000-25.000 and add import tax,gst and compliance and there goes 35k. I have seen some superclean low km for around the 4 million mark so no prices haven't come down that much.

    My Big Day

Ok so i got the call from Jason at kamikaze today compliance plates are here come pick her up. I didnt have to be told twice i was str8 up to the local train station (Castlemaine) for the vline to southern cross. Then connex to nunawading walked across the road from the station to the workshop how easy was that 2.5 hrs total trip and throthing at the mouth by time i got there. So we go thru all the paperwork, sort out payments and then the keys are handed to me. Walked outside to the carpark and their she was in all her glory. I must have looked like a little kid on christmas morning judging by the look on jason's face. So we pop the bonnet and jason goes thru some stuff with me vin locations and compliance plate locations so i can point them out to vicroads tomorrow. Then he points out that the factory blow off valve is not connected and asks if i would him to hook it up b4 i take it. I said no cos on my previous visit i noticed a hks bov sitting underneath the induction pipe which he didn't see so all is good. So i fire her up to let her warm up why i go thru the car looking at all the different switches and working out what the instruments do (yes im n00b 1st import and 1st turbo). So all good she's all warm the exhaust note was very quite which i was suprised at given the hks cat back system and the canon muffler on it. First thing i notice is no fuel (typical). So i fire up the gps find the nearest servo and head off. $99.96 later she's full of shell v-power and i start the 150 km drive home driving like an old lady. I noticed the auto seemed to be really tight and shifting pretty firmly at even light throttle. Later i found the trans cooler nestled between the radiator support panel some one has played with it and looked after it will have to get it inspected to find if it's been shift kitted. Ok so my concern now is she going great im getting a little more comfortbale driving it so at the next set of lights i give it to her a little bit 3500rpm in 1st and absolutely shat my self when bov vented to atmosphere,me thinks plumback goin on very soon. Boost comes on at about 2500rpm and pulls hard, So now im out on the highway just cruisin mindin my own business and as if every n00b in their SS or clubsport got a text to tell them where i was one after another they lined up wanting to race . So they got sick of me not racing and i was byself once again doing about 90km in 100kmh i give it a little poke instant kickdown to 3rd gear and hit 4000rpm in flash then what i can only desribe as boost cut just complete loss of any momentum or pull doing about 100km so not speed cut. So anyway i start looking at this thing stuck to the side of the console it is a boost controller of some desription as per the photo's ive posted already, it has a high/low button so i switch to low and pull over to the emergancy lane and give it shit WOP revs to 5500rpm no problem but no where near the pull of the hi setting (but still enjoyable). So i figure out that the high setting must be hitting the boost cut on the ecu (awesome work japanese tuner guy) . So anyway to remove the cut other than full ecu can you trick it somehow? Ride was smooth with the tein coilovers firm but not bone shattering when hitting a bump quite inside and a pleasure to drive i am absolutely stoked i love my stagea. One other problem i came up with while i was driving on the highway the check engine light came on for about 5 seconds then went off then about 30km later it came on again for about 5 secs then it didnt come on again all the way home any ideas on this? Oh and the cd player didnt work no biggie but 2 hr drive with no tunes killed me. Tomorrow we have an appointment with vicroads in bendigo so will have plates and have it's australian citizenship as of tomorrow. Wish me luck. Pictures will be posted tomorrow b4 i clean it and then after then with new plates hopefully
  20. At vicroads because the car has to submitted with a RWC the only thing they have to check is that all the numbers match what is on the paperwork and the compliance plate is installed and all obvious things done that would be a compliance issue.
  21. Geez victoria sounds heaps easier,Compliance shops can do the rwc/blue slip they give you all paperwork you need. You book at vicroads of your choice go in pay a shit load of cash get plates screw on car drive away,
  22. At least let me drive it once b4 you steal the kit off it Still waiting on cherry33 for an answer on the kits
  23. UPDATE: Ok so the boys at kamakaze have finished with my car done compliance and RWC needed only a couple of bushes for RWC waiting for compliance plate to come from DOTARS which should be tuesday wednesday the latest then off to vicroads i go the wait has been killing me. Ok so here is what it has cost me for anyone thinking of doind the same thing $8600 FOB-car itself from japan $4200 approx for shipping, quarantine and all duties $4020 for compliance, transport RWC and Fix things for RWC. $200 in phone calls to find out the latest LOL(jokes) $960 Vicroads registered and brand new plates YAY Total $17780 I am using the jap tyres that came with it as they were near new Nankangs give you full details when im looking at it my driveway as well as a crap load of photo's. For anyone else embarking on their first import journey take my advice if your impatient like me buy local as no amount of phone calls to quarantine the agents or compliancers will get your to you any faster.
