  1. Well if you subscribe to the Nigel Roebuck world view CVC is the antichrist. But for my ten cents worth Ferrari have been a blight on the sport since about the mid nineties. They have managed to get themselves in such a position as to win more money than other teams doing better than them, being able to reject rule changes (Hoping that has now stopped, not sure if it has) and generally regarding themselves as more important than the sport and everyon else in it. Maybe CVC & Ferrari could fk off and start their own series. To my mind they need to fix the money and get some more engine equality between the teams running the same engines. So no B spec motors.
  2. It depends on what you want the motor for, how much you can afford and how long you are prepared to take. These people do good work: http://www.gibsonmotorsport.com.au/ Or more realistically: http://www.spoolimports.com/spool-engine-rebuild-kits/nissan/rb26dett-rebuild-kit http://www.hioctanedirect.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67_72&products_id=560 But more realistically there are places who do exchange motors, places who will promise to build them for you and just about any other service you can imagine. There is also an almost limitless range of gear and opinions to go with it. So maybe start by sharing what you want to do with the car.
  3. Dunno when will have to have a look. But if you compare say dans car when he turns in to almost any other you look at the way the wishbones move and it just looks odd. Must be something funky with the roll centres, the cog and the geometry.
  4. You mean he could have been doing what Massa appears to be fixating on. The Lotus appears to be very, very senstive set up wise. Maybe the aero is pitch sensitive or roll sensitive or they havent got their suspension sorted to keep the chassis stable. Cant remember which car it was maybe the RedBull but it looks really odd from the in camera when the car gets turned in. Something funny about how the suspension moves, cant quite put my finger on it.
  5. Cant see Lotus pulling themselves out of the shit next year - better engine aside. Its their chassis that sucks. Maldanado - why did he re-sign? F1 needs to get the money sorted and quickly. All of the teams that should be there abouts are now struggling. ForceitIndia have lost their competitiveness, Sauber are now hopeless, Lotus are terrible, McLaren are fading.... Williams are the only ones who have stepped up and you cant help but wonder if it is because everyone else is hopeless or if it is just they are getting the (second) best of the Mercedes engines? Anyway if the midfield cant run updates because of no budgets then there isnt much hope for any of them surviving, let alone progressing. You live in hope that teams can step up but the brutal reality is they usually just dont. RedBull is the last team to do so but then they have bucketloads of cash to do so. Before that was who - Jordan or Benetton?
  6. He always has. When he was on channel 9 (About a hundred years ago kiddies) he would routinely struggle over the names of the pay drivers from about p15 downwards. Big Darryl Eastlake had to bail him out. Which tells you just how lame that was. Anyway a non surprise of a GP. Dan drove drilliantly, Massa fkd it up again, Kimi sucked and the Lotus' sucked unbelievably. Roy's boy to McLaren next year? MB's didnt have to go more than 8/10ths to win. Could not quite believe how rubbish the McLaren was in a straight line. Obviously some MB engines are more equal than others. They must be hanging out for the VTEC to kick in next year.
  7. Surely not that much. I mean, he's not THAT good.
  8. Still no idea why the sudden move to ban FRIC other than doubtless Ferrari cant make it work.
  9. Hmm, maybe it frees up resources but it also means they miss out on income from selling engines. Which they appear to need, badly. In other news Maldanados crash wasnt his fault. Cant say that very often.
  10. Hmm, other than the McLarens it appears those who rode their luck in quali didnt have good races. Britney & Tool had poor results whereas their team mates who both screwed up got results. So did Bottas - excellent drive, no mistakes and little risk to P2. Shame the car is still so far off the pace of the Benzes. Also Lotus have signed with Mercedes for next year. What now for Red Bull?
  11. Why the hate for Monza?
  12. My best tip is to try the analysis software for the DL1 and make sure you are happy with it before you stump up the coin.
  13. Still trying to figure out how TR has so few points given the are often as not quicker than the grown ups in the other team. Also Horner has tipped a bucket on Renault. Next year Infiniti RedBull Honda??????? Apparently not. "We need to work together as partners. There will not be another engine in the back of the car next year, but we want to be competitive and we want to run at the front," said Horner. "Something needs to happen because whatever's being done there at the moment isn't working. "It's not our business, it's not our responsibility. We're the end user and it's just frustrating that it's not where it needs to be at the moment," added the Briton.
  14. Nah I am pretty close to your camber setting - just that Wanneroo likes loads of it, moreso than elsewhere & I am not intending on running different wheel alignments for different tracks. Guessing your spring rates are harder than mine, however.
  15. From the Beebeecee: Mercedes, realising they were able to look after their tyres better than Williams, brought Rosberg in on lap 11. Had Williams responded with Massa on the next lap, the Brazilian would almost certainly have been able to rejoin still ahead but Williams were worried the two remaining stints would then be too long for their car. "From all the information we had at that point and everything we knew at that time and now know, I don't think we could have got to the end of the race by doing it," head of vehicle performance Smedley said. "Even the strategy we did, we were managing tyres and tyre wear, trying to keep wheelspin and lateral acceleration down in certain parts of the corner with driving styles, with electronic settings. "So it would have been fairly gung-ho and brave to have gone for it on that lap, and you look like a bit of an idiot if you finish your tyres with five or six laps to go and cars come streaming past you." It did look all a bit weak kneed but there again the constructors is tight: 1 Mercedes 301 2 Red Bull Racing-Renault 143 3 Ferrari 98 4 Force India-Mercedes 87 5 Williams-Mercedes 85 6 McLaren-Mercedes 72 7 STR-Renault 12 8 Lotus-Renault 8 9 Marussia-Ferrari 2 10 Sauber-Ferrari 0 11 Caterham-Renault 0 What chance Ferrari will dump Kimi for Kyvet - does Alonso get to pick his team mate again and say no like he allegedly did to Hulkenberg?
  16. 1. Pressures were 30# which is what the bloke from Yokohama said. 2. Camber is enough I think - anymore I would have to wheel align it for other circuits/events etc. Dont think it is that far away. Did a 64.0 something which isnt too bad for 410 horsepowers, a full interior and a talentless driver. 3. NFI never ran with the ho's.
  17. Well that is why I was trying to say it isnt a compound thing. Just maybe that my lardbox is a little to, umm, lardie for them. Am sure someone will be along to tell me my set up sucks teh balls but here is a dead tyre. Not how the tread block (for want of a better term) wears - chamfers really. Can be helped by swapping tyres side to side but the grip does fall away as the tyre ages. For me anyway.
  18. The 50's are quick but dont last very long. They also fall away in performance - not the compound - just the rubber wearing differently across the tread face. May be fixable by remounting the rhf on the lhf as they are directional. They go well from cold too.
  19. So what actually sh!t the biscuit on chins car?
  20. Nah not anymore. They used to be but now they have Renault motors. Cant figure out why the RedBull's dont pretend their engines are Infiniti's by the way.
  21. Well it is generally regarded as being a Renault issue more so than a RedBull issue. So I am going to go with no. That is based on the restrictions placed on the engine manufacturers as much as anything. Hoping Renault get their sh!t together for 2015. And Honda too, come to that.
  22. Well 4 thou is pretty normal for 2618. Actually you build it loose and everyone will know - because it will rattle like a b!tch on start up. Dont have any noise out of mine with 4 thou but it might get a bit colder where you live. Just for interests sake: http://www.jepistons.com/PDFs/TechCorner/SCPDrawings/piston_instrc2618.pdf Compared to http://www.jepistons.com/PDFs/TechCorner/SCPDrawings/piston_instrc4032.pdf And for other, old school stuff - the clearance is 5 thou. http://www.aclperformance.com.au/NissanRB26DETTForgedPistons.htm Anyway if you check the JE docs carefully it recommends more clearance for turbo motors for obvious reasons.
  23. Do you have a graph from the dyno?
  24. Not sure what alloy Wiseco use but most pistons are about 4 thou.
