  1. I would be wary of running Group 5 oils with older motors built with lower tolerances, just sayin'
  2. Ballistic 100 cpi metal cats from Sureflo exhaust. Cheap too (but not bolt on)
  3. yeah "F2P" for a gimped out shell of a game.
  4. just get a turbo and be done with it. f**k the haters
  5. god i hate that type of business model, it sucks all the life out of gaming. BTW GG on getting stooged 120 for a DD game LOL
  6. been thinking about this stuff as well, think I'll see what my mechanic thinks next time I'm in there. Some Mainlube engine flush probably wouldn't go astray either for the oil system!
  7. the H80/100 does have the great feature of not hitting ram sticks lolz. Had to adjust the fan height on my Hyper 212 to clear my RAM sticks, there would have been much raging had I not been able to. HAF 932 / X cases have perfect mounting points for the self enclosed loops too
  8. WDS lol. Is Ghost still around? prob be your best bet for consumer stuff, but in this day of high speed broadband I'm too lazy to create a base image (that and its usually getting new hardware anyway that necessitates it). Only a complete noob would still be running 7200rpm disks in this brave new SSD world. Could not believe the speed difference between RAID 0 Velociraptors and my SATA 2 Samsung OEM SSD.
  9. The mechanic has a stack of copies of the article printed out (by RP by the looks of it) sitting on the counter lolz. In the end, 10w40 RP HPR is about the same price as paying full retail for Edge 10w60, went with the Edge as Supercheap had their 20% off sale, and BITOG / LS1.com.au had more people who had empirical evidence of the Edge being a good oil rather than "it feels better". The change from the mineral 25w50 to the Group 4 10w60 is noticeable though; all of the lifter noise on cold startup has gone and it seems to be able to rev more freely. (not anal enough to also get the UOA).
  10. i know 3 people who run the H80 and clock hard, trust me just leave it on auto you will be right. Might want to replace fans though as they are noisy pricks.
  11. using it in an LSx, not an RB lol, used to use Motul 8100 Xcess 10w40 in that. Been reading an absolute shitload of LS forums and BITOG lately, the main evidence for the Edge comes via Steve from Mainlube, who has filtergrams to back up his claims that Edge 10w60 is second only to the Mainlube 10w60 engine oil. (as well as being in that field etc). Was mostly concerned with whether the regular RP was in fact a Group 4, or whether it was still a 2/3 with a custom additive package (as far as I can read it has a lot of ZDDP and Moly in it). Moodles2: on further reading, it appears that the Timken machine used for that test is actually meant for testing out greases not engine oils. Also half of the oils mentioned in that review no longer exist.
  12. Or it just means that they put it with it because they have to.
  13. depends if you're talking Mainline kw or Dyno Dynamics kw Realistically, your average LS1 should pull ~215-220rwkw on an accurate dyno with bolt ons from what I have seen. Cam choice is also a LOT more variable than I had previously thought; something that works great in the cathedral port heads (LS1/2/6) (like a Comp 222 224 112LSA) is crap for anything with L92 rectangular port heads (L76/LS3/L98), and its fairly easy to get it wrong and end up with a peak power pig rather than something with a fat curve (kinda like turbos I guess!) LS3 can make over 300rwkw with cam and stock heads, GM Motorsports "Turbo Killer" cam springs to mind (237/242 112 lol) It is also possible to get a cam that has too much lift than what the springs are rated to; hence there being several various type of spring types. VH45DE swap is really dependent on how keen you are on sourcing rare-ish parts IMO. Cool conversion as well. Ash: I never thought I'd see the day lol, sick of boost?
  14. Birds: do you know much about Royal Purple 10w40? My mechanic is trying hard to flog it to me, as its slightly cheaper than Edge, and I can buy it by the litre. Also got given a copy of the infamous Street Commodores oil review (mechanic claimed that the threat of legal action was the reason for the article's retraction)
  15. get the 850 you tightarse, system is then SLI proof! Yeah I lol at my Samsung SATA 2 SSD being faster to boot with than my workmates $1000 RevoDrive X3s
  16. yes it was a joking reply to the post above mine..
  17. I have noticed recently that the auto shops in town have stopped stocking a lot of the more boutique oils like Motul (at least 300v and 8100 Xcess). Bloody mechanic put Castrol Edge 25w50 in my VZ, and the blasted thing ticks like a clock when cold (sticky lifters like the other 99% of them) Had read some interesting stuff about the quality of Castrol Edge 10w60 from the Mainlube guy on LS1, who had empirical evidence to suggest that it was in fact a top rate Group 4 oil. I do know a number of Skyline owners who use that oil, but thought it would be worth mentioning, given I had always thought Edge was a Group 3 and not all that much good. Unfortunately its now about the same price as the 8100 XCess and I'll need 9 litres of it lol
  18. No need to preach to me about LS awesomeness you will find that an LS7 mentioned is about 13.5k$USD and upwards, they are hand built and have titanium / forged components.
  19. looks like a decent build, I would go an IB though, everyone I know who has them (with the Corsair H80 self enclosed water loops), gets just as good if not better clocks than SB. I'd probably go G Skill RAM as well, but that's a personal preference, prob look for more mhz over better latencies next time
  20. Heavyload is CPU / RAM / HDD + 2d drawing stress test. I've gotten a Sandy Bridge MBP to 98 degrees before, the underside felt as hot as a boiling kettle lol
  21. please post a build thread if you go through with this OP
  22. tried some octane booster?
