Muz replied to garage5ran's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds

Buyer's Guide - The Nissan C34 Stagea
Muz replied to GoldZilla's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Got it thru J-Spec (Craig Moor) from auctions, very easy to deal with, very simple process. Should have plenty of pics any day now so will post them up when they arrive. The whole process to date has been without any dramas. We got it for my wife who has been driving a Territory for a few years. She is a person who does not normally get excited at all about buying a car but she damn near drove me crazy buying this one. She loved it right from the moment it came up on the Auction board. Another interesting thing I found out when transferring the money to Japan, my bank (Bendigo Bank) gave me a higher (better) exchange rate because of the amount being transferred. The lovely teller volunteered it as part of the service. Some quick specs for your consumption: VQ25DET 18" Wheels standard higher suspension set (bit like Subaru Forrester) Leather interior (with heated seats) Sat Nav TV/DVD Bose Stereo All wheel drive 4 wheel steer Electronic Traction Control (with snow mode - which is going to be really helpful up here in Cairns) Twin Sunroofs Split A/C and some other stuff I couldn't translate with my very basic Japanese skills Cheers Muz -
Buyer's Guide - The Nissan C34 Stagea
Muz replied to GoldZilla's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Just got myself (er the missus) a 2004 model AR-X .... well it will be on it's way here soon. Has all the option boxes ticked so should be interesting to see what we actually get. Cheers Muz -
Hi all, Need your help bigtime! She who controls the sexual privelages in the house has issued an order ... "I want that Stagea!". I have tried emailing J-spec but no reply .... are they still in business? If anyone has a contact phone number, could I please have it. Ta muchly Muz

I have it (and all other issues) but won't sell. I can extract what it is you require and send it to you if you like. Cheers Muz

Well fellas it's all good as my baby is now home with twin plate installed. Certainly a different driving expereience. Old clutch plate had very little wear left on it but as you suggested FAT34, it was not cotaminated in any way so the problem remains with the oil blowing out the breather in emulsified form. Dollarwise ....... $600 all up. Good or bad I don't know but it's roughly what I expected after getting done to the tune of 370.00 by another outfit just for a routine service and brake fluid replacement AND I supplied all the consumables! Plugs/Oil/filters/brake fluid etc! cheers
-
Thanks FAT34, Yeah I find it a bit suss as well but not being a mechanic or industrial chemist, I am at their mercy. I must admit that the Redline has not given any problems up to this point (Also includes a couple of Wakefield track days when I was down that way). The bearing came with the clutch assembly so once again I can only surmise that it is the correct one. I have not personally sighted the original clutch but will ask for it when I am in there this arvo. Hmmmm question now is to rebuild the Nismo and make it work or go for an Exedy Hyper single which is what Nismo use anyway .......... Cheers
-
Well fellas, things just took a downward spiral. When the surgeons opened my baby up they found that the seal was still good and that all the fluid that had liberally coated the externals was coming out of the breather. Seems that my super expensive Redline gearbox oil has somehow emulsified?????. (Hmmmm I wonder if I can get a transmission cooler out of this) Of course clutch plate is gone so the Nismo Twin Plate went in and it is not functioing as it should. That is, it is extremely difficult to select a gear so the box has to come out again (more expense) Would anyone know if you need to upgrade any other components when installing a Twin Plate? (Like the slave cylinder perhaps?) I'll keep ya's all posted. And thanks for all the replies guys, they are appreciated

Nismo Twin Plate Clutch Width
Muz replied to SirRacer's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
If you can give me the part number I might be able to find it in my Nismo catalogue for you, failing that I think from memory that the plates are Exedy products so they may be able to assist. Cheers -
Well fellas back from the Doctors minus one R34. Had to check it in for some surgery. FAT 34 had the correct diagnosis with a buggered seal. Left my baby there and the surgeons got straight to work ..... oh god it was messy ..... bleeding fluid everywhere ...... clutch plate coated in the gearbox fluid ...... new clutch plate required says the Head Honcho ...... thinking 5th mortgage here ....... mind rapidly races ...... how will I explain this to the "Treasurer" ...... another panic attack sets in and then resided just as quickly when I realize that bloody box I have been shifting around the garage for awhile now ........ Yes the one that says NISMO G-Max Twin Plate Clutch assembly ...... would solve the problem for me ....... Ohhh she will be happy indeed .... another box gone from the garage! And can fit the Nismo Stainless Steel hose line while it is under the anesthetic! Happy days are here again! Hmmmmmm wonder what to expect with a twin plate and driveability ??? cheers
-
Already replaced with other items but thanks for the thought. cheers

Thanks guys, I have a pretty fair idea as to where it maybe coming from just by looking at the colour and consistency (thickness) of the deposit. Into the doctors today. Hmmmmmm (scheme-ing mind here says) it could be the turbo gone and I will need to upgrade to the latest and greatest from HKS/Garrett to ensure that it doesn't happen again ...... well that is what I will be telling "she who holds the purse strings" anyway. cheers
-
Reversing out of my garage this morning, I happened to notice some unusual fluid deposits on my otherwise spotless floor. Stop car ..... getting somewhat anxious ...... drag my quivering body around to the front of the car ..... down on hands and knees ....... bliush/green oily like susbstance of reasonably thick consistency sitting about where my gearbox would sit. Hmmmmmmm better do a fliuds check ... Engine coolant overflow bottle normal? ........ check Radiator coolant level normal? .......... check Engine oil normal? ......... check (also no sign of water in oil) Power Steering Fluid normal? ....... check Brake fluid reservoir normal? ....... check Clutch fluid reservoir normal? ....... check Turbo coolant lines normal? ........ check Diff housing normal? ....... check So process of elimination is pointing to gearbox leak but I could be wrong. Car is too low to get a good look so off to the Auto doctors I go tomorrow. A sleepless night ahead! Bad dreams of bank manager refusing 4th mortgage for gearbox repairs. Ahhhhhhh the joys of Skyline ownership.

Adjusting Coilover Height, Help.
Muz replied to wolfwood's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Just imagine your spring without any tension on it all as in dropped to it's fullest extension i.e. no preload . Now as you wind up the adjustment nut it compresses the spring and thereby creating preload and effecting a certain amount of height reduction due to the spring having less travel/compression. Tein Type Flex have damper height adjustment (fulled threaded shell) which allows for the height adjustment to be done without affecting spring preload. Type Flex also allow you to change the spring perch height thereby changing preload and have rebound (valve) adjustment as well. EDFC work great on these. Check the Tein website for pics. Changing the preload on yours is simply done by winding the spring up or down. The Type Flex type of damper are by far the better unit IMVHO. Other manufacturers have similar units although Tein are great quality products. -
G'day Ryan, Not quite sure what you refer to as "old" but if that means you can remember Queen Elizabeth II's coronation then join the club. Well almost. It happened the year I was born. I have a R34 with 17's fitted with Tein Type Flex and EDFC (spring rates 7/5 front to rear) and while they are on the firm side of good even with the EDFC set on the softest setting, I think the roads down your way would give an acceptable ride. These are Jap Spec ones so may be even better with the "softer" valving found in Tein Oz products. cheers Murray

What scale? Nah just kidding ...... could you be a little more specific ..... like how much your willing to spend .... modded/unmodded ..... GT-R/GT-T/GT. I have one but ......

Rick Kelly Should Have Been Shot Into The Sheets
Muz replied to Roy's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
I do think it was premeditated if his comments as quoted in todays news are anything to go by. I have zero respect for him! Isn't it a shame that he will never win the Barry Sheene Award for to win that award you have to exhibit "SPORTSMANSHIP". -
Rick Kelly Should Have Been Shot Into The Sheets
Muz replied to Roy's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
The kellys and a lot of other young V8 "Superstars" came up thru karting and if anyone has been to a recent kart meeting you will see plenty of the biff and bash going on. Ever since nose cones and sidepods were intoduced into karting, the finesse in driving has completely dissappeared. Check out 7 times world champion recently retired. All Kelly R did was emulate Schumacher. Nuff said! -
It's a reasonably simple process that involves lots of sweating, swearing and many beers! Nah just kidding. Installing them is fairly simple but if they are the adjustable type can be fairly time consuming to get them set at the right (ride height etc). Not too sure what type of car you have but you do have to remove the rear seat on an R34 (speaking from experience). I did my my first set (non adjustable Nismo's) but got a suspension shop to do my Tein Type Flex install. Hope that helps Muz

No sweat Deano. It's all for the humour content. Cheers Muz

Says who??? Has that been conclusively proven beyond all shadow of doubt? Oh and I suppose now your going to try and tell me that Ayrton has not been on an extended enforced holiday due to the fact that he was ruining F1 and wouldn't let anyone else win. Gees, LOL Didn't really think that question would get any takers at all:-)
-
Just knew you would accept the bait DJR. Yeah I wasn't too sure who owns what now as Brabham have been out of it for awhile and is Colin ("hmmm obviously to heavy .... it didn't break") Chapman really coming back to F1. Do ya reckon the old partnership of Lotus and Senna (Ayrton not Bruno) will be reformed? cheers Muz
