Nrma Vintage And Classic Insurance
Nismo 3.2ish replied to walkoau's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I see the Veteran, Vintage and classic Insurance has had a change. It was that you could do up to 9000klms a year . This works out to 750klms a months. Now it is up to "10 times" a months, a little under 2.4 times a week. BUT you could drive , say 1000 a day for 10 days a month, if you wanted to, 10,000 klm PM X 12 months and that could be 120,000klms PA. I know this is over the top. hope my math is close,(lol) So on the other side , you might only do 20klm each time you took your car out, 200klm a month or 2400klm PA. So it turns into an honour system as no one could say if you drove it very day or not -

Thanks mate, it is not the end of the world for me, but if it happened to a young bloke that was spending his last cent on a build, it would be devastating ! I cannot wait to get it back , now were pretty sure the block is cracked, looks like between 2 & 3 cylinders , it being sent to a motor builder to pull down and start the build again and then back to the shop to put it all back together, looking at a fair wait , maybe 6-8 weeks but I am sure it will be worth it -

That is a great observation , too much negativity, really Having ones motor farked is good reason to be negative , but I am waiting for a report back from the motor builder. -

Is there one particular one you would choose or just a general mix ? the quality of being arrogant. "the arrogance of this man is astounding" synonyms: haughtiness, conceit, hubris, self-importance, egotism, sense of superiority; pomposity, high-handedness, swagger, boasting, bumptiousness, bluster, condescension, disdain, contempt, imperiousness; pride, vanity, immodesty; loftiness, lordliness, snobbishness, snobbery, superciliousness, smugness; pretension, pretentiousness, affectation; scorn, mocking, sneering, scoffing; presumption, insolence; informaluppitiness, big-headedness "to dismiss all the academic work on the subject displays breathtaking arrogance" -

That is about how it was, when cold about 100mm of water came out the plug hole first. It was a slow leak and marginally more when boost was used. The situation is a real pain in the arse/ pocket as well ! -

I took them to NCAT, a tribunal were you can negotiate and come to a mutual agreement, I sat at home on the phone during this procedure. he was just a smart arse and told me to fark off, I didn't! This situation is early days and the motor has to be checked , I am sure it can be worked out, until then it is just another bump in the road. Some blokes should put themselves in the other persons shoes before posting, think about what you would do in the same situation , roll over like a dog , yeah sure ? -

I am amazed sometimes on this thread. At first the water lose was on a low boost run in tune and limited to 5000rpm, this was in March this year. This water situation started from the first day of the build, it was not noticeable at first as I was checking the radiator, cold in the mornings and not the overflow, once the overflow emptied then it was noticeable from the radiator. I have always checked from the radiator so I knew exactly how much water was being used, I used a measuring cup. The amount used on different driving situations was and is the same from day one as it was when we found the water in the oil. Yet the oil still looked clean on the stick , not as you would expect ? -

Hi Peter My advice is what I was told after I bought my car , go and drive as many as you can. If you have friends with a skyline ask for a drive or go to sale yards and drive as many as you can. You might even find the car you want. I say this because this is exactly what I did "NOT" do and I have kicked myself ever since Since you have muscle cars, do not expect a Skylines to drive the same around town as your muscle car, most are 2.6 ish and heavy. Take them on a drive , but get the turbo/s going through some twisty stuff and There are so many things you can do with these cars to make it drive the way you want, but be prepared to pay for the experience. But if you know what you want out of the car , speak to like mined blokes on these types of sites and work out a plan and check out the price for the mods you might need. But, you say you are getting it next week , so I guess what I am saying could be too late, all the best Pete

Jez will be doing the work. Cams were dialled for a more even result, top and bottom I believe Chemiweld had already been used, but that is only a guess If I did change the CR . probably go 9:1 But I will not make any decision until it is pulled down and the problem found and go from there once I find out the initial problem -

I am the same, so Fn pathetic . Got a 14 year old still at home and the car, how sad, haha I have no info to offer and I need to know what has happened before I shoot my mouth off, guessing is not fair on anyone. All I know is, it is back to exactly how it was after the build, the difference is now I know where the water is going and the car has not moved since. Just sitting there like a bird with a broken wing, boohoo, poor me Cars booked in for the 12th of October, once it is in , might have a few things tweaked, cams and CR to see what happens ? -
