I had the Auto /Tipronic and I never bothered using the Tipronic as the Auto change was sharp, put your foot down and would get you going real fast, shocked a lot of young blokes with the response of this car, the twin Turbos made it very sneaky

What throttle lag would a 3.7Lt have, my 3.5 did not have any trouble, even before the TT mod ?

They always seem to mention wheels in the mods, but I told them about motor, turbo, fuel upgrades etc and nothing on the policy????? BUT I was not increasing the agreed value, this may have been the difference

I am still trying to work out if they actually care to much about the mods in a $ term. Insurance is like gambling and they have the table and the house wins or no company left. Maybe they have their own pricing structure for each car, model, year and have limit for them ???

I had the "03" 350GT Skyline and put the APS Twin Turbo System on it, only took it to 253awkw I asked for a mild tune, the turbos kicked in early , it was a fun car to drive. Added attachment, just loved that blue While I was getting some work done on my R34 Jim mentioned something about a different chip for the 350GT that helped maintain the tune or something like that and was a good addition, maybe they have something for your model, ask Jim. Not from what the bloke said, I also mentioned that there are not many of these Skylines without mods and he understood that. I would think if you prang your car and you were charged with reckless driving or similar, your policy is Null/ dumped in the bin. When I did my other mods last year, I phoned and told a bloke and when I got my new policy it did not mention them , I guess you have a policy of $65k and you write it off , it is still only going to cost them , $65k regardless of extra mods you put on since the policy was taken out, unless you want to have the agreed value increased ??? I guess at the end of the day, if you drive within the rules of the road there should be no problem, this is regardless of the power your car has. You can walk into a showroom and drive out with some pretty fast cars and with insurance and most of them have turbos or big V8s, all of which you can drive like a DH or not !.

I just called them for you, there is no age limit on the owner, 18 and over, must have a garage and all of the other stipulations they want you to abide by. If you track your car , there is no coverage if you prang at the track. Driving to and from, no problem. I would think there would be a negative response if you have a bad record, you say you are OK so no probs , I would try again and if you get the bloke I just spoke to , you will be OK, he was very helpful Hope this helps .

Maybe driving records come into it, maybe where you live, maybe the bloke was having a good day ? Hard to say, my guess is, they have tightened up their requirements since your time? Maybe letting you slip through was the last straw

I guess most blokes under 30 are still pretty bullet proof

We are luckier here with the age for second hand imports, but something to do with if they are sold in Australia or not. I "think" if a model is being sold here we cannot import them personally ? As for the prices I only went on 2 sites to get example prices for the same GTR models, I went to , 2016 Nissan USA and 2016 Nissan GT-R Australia , those were the recommended retail prices quoted from both sites. Check them out and you will see the over the top prices we pay in OZ Had been to Japan many times but nothing to do with cars, just loved it there, have to go again before I fall off the perch, haha

As I have never imported a car I have no idea if those prices are expensive for the US, it seems you can buy a new import a lot cheaper than we can, our government wants to make sure they get their cut and they cut deep with their different taxes and duties, I am just trying to think if we still have the Luxury Car import tax going, lol Example to give you and idea; GTR Black, $au182,500 = $us111,500 , Premium $au172,000 = $us101,770 , I thought the Omori factory was moved to Yokhama in the Tsurumi district. Do they still have one in Tokyo ?

Sounds like a plan, taking your time is also the way to go I think, I bumbled along after I bought mine, even buying it was not planned and ended up going for the Nitto 3.2 stroker build in the end. It had an old single on it when I bought it , so I stayed with a single, put the PT6266 CEA Gen 2 on it. Lots of arguing on this site about single and twins, from what I can work out the twins seem better for the street on a 2,6Lt , but ? Photo attached of my R34GTR That Omori Factory is something else, like to have the pick of some of the cars there and that R2 built motor looks great, with soooo many other goodies , well if you have the bank account for them, lol. Keep us updated, sounds like it could end up a special car. Going through an importer there, what would a reasonable R32GTR cost and ready for the road? Regards Pete

What is the issue for existing customers ? I cannot see anything other than what I had agreed to , except the driving 10 days a month from the 9000klm from the last policy ? Maybe I will have another look tomorrow, been a long day
