Nrma Vintage And Classic Insurance
Nismo 3.2ish replied to walkoau's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Had my renewal in today and a better deal, all paid I guess they they have no problem with the R moded cars as long as it is within their policy specs. Better price this year, I have been with NRMA roadside this time for 18 years, had a gap when my financial fortunes Fd up, but all up about 35 years. I am glad they have this type of insurance and I feel I am being rewarded for my long term loyalty . -

I hope not Maybe it could also be judged on your driving record if they take you on or not ?? if you do not track your car I cannot see the problem for them. If you are on the road, Skyline drivers still have to play by the rules. One advantage for NRMA is, our street cars are worth more to most of use than you can insure them for and we want them in one piece My car has spent over 6 months off the road during my insurance, still is, so that just doubled the price as I could not use it, no good stealing it and without the motor it is still too heavy to push, haha I guess I will find out soon if they have stopped insurance for these types of older cars. I wonder if they knock back Porsche, Lambos, Corvettes etc over 15 years old?? Cannot be because they are fast, there must be other reasons behind it, maybe the mods. My guess is that more younger blokes (under 40ish ) go for the Rs and older blokes go for the other types of older vintage fast cars? -

Could have been a lot of blokes trying to get the insurance with hot cars, sure they fall under what was their policy but I guess someone in NRMA did not like the idea and figured a lot of these cars are built to go fast for a reason, to go fast. But there are also older blokes that might might get it without a problem?. Lets face it you can buy a car off the showroom floor that fly's, shit you can insure a GTR for $150,000 cheaper than a Skyline GTR at less than half the price, so go figure ??????????? But like all cars on our roads, you must obey the rules. -

What Is The Better Car? Evo 7 Or R32 Gtr? (poll)
Nismo 3.2ish replied to PranK's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Maybe I missed the point, shouldn't you compare the R32GTR to an Evo1. The 32 was 11 years old before they made the Evo 7, it was even 3 years old before they made the Evo1? -

haha, no , I am talking about how my car was when I first bought it, it was hideous heap of crap, 338awkw but nothing happened until after 6000rpm+ , it was being built for track etc, with a T78 and OS quad clutch, no fun on the street. It is really great to drive now, well , not now, when it was going, just needed a bucket of water, lol -

Not when you are in 1st. Launching at the lights and running around town at 6000+rpm draws a little unwanted attention, lol -

Educated Guess At The Final Tune Results
Nismo 3.2ish replied to Nismo 3.2ish's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah he said there was more left low end and will go for it when it is back together. 450kw @ 4000rpm, must feel great, what is it full throttle , love to see you Dyno run, mad Hope Fatz has not put the mocca on me, I had to stop driving it until I put it in to find the leak , so there was nothing too hard after the last tune. I am pretty soft on the changes most of the time, so ?? No head work except 1mm oversize ST Valves Even if I wanted I could not get anymore out of it, turbo and injectors were close to maxed -

haha, same old story, single or twins , trouble is I do not know how the twins would go, I have seen some results on the web and they do look pretty impressive. A lot of blokes seem to go to a single and love them, did see one bloke go back to twins. I have a single on a 3.2l , not a 2.6l and it goes pretty good, (320kw at 4000rpm) , well the last time I drove it, lol I do not need more power, I just want to see the graph difference in tunes from dialling the cams for HP and Torque ? -

Will do, lol What I tried to say in the drunken drivel above was, I want to see the difference when retarded for high rpm HP as to advanced for low end torque and get back to back graphs, should be interesting , same car, same day. -

To bring up an old thread, I think I will ask to do the 501KW, just for the F of it, shit I struggle holding on at 475 I do not need these big numbers and once the water leak is sorted I am going to ask to take it lower on top end HP and push for , YES, you guessed, RESPONSE! Might play with the cams while it is in the shop , turbo ? BW8374 maybe and see the difference in response, if it is only marginal I will stay with the PT6266 Waiting to see how Paul goes with the 8374, I think with the head he had built it will be MAD! I am also keen to see what the Nm will be, was 935Nm ish, not sure what happens when dialing the cams in for mainly response , it was dialed for 50/50 ? Wish I was 5 years younger , missed the 0, 50 , lol Best thing is , I reckon my car will be going again by the end of the month, what year ?? Yes, pissed, hic hic -
Shoota's R33 GT-R RB30/26
Nismo 3.2ish replied to Shoota_77's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
It does not take long for the $s to go out of control, but I am sure you will get more than you had to pay , plus enjoy the build. That is much more than a lot of us have got from the $s spent, lol I am hoping to have mine back at the end of January and going 100% Even for a small bloke the seating is good, when I had the Quad clutch I had to sit closer as it engaged just about from the bottom of the stroke, the new Coppermix comp twin it great and for me I can get away from the steering wheel as it engages later in the stroke , you will love it. I have not thrashed mine but it seems to go well with the extra torque of the 3.2, I think because it is more linear, but time will tell ?? Looking forward to your updates, enjoy the hols -

Hi Ewan, great thread. Like the way you put the words together, easy read for a novice Stuck in a hotel room at Cronulla with my girls sleeping, blowing and raining since daybreak and was good to have something to read, with pretty pics. I must say for a tight arse you know how to spend $s on your ride, money well spent That shed would not come cheap, even if you did all of the work, great job. Love the silver donk. Did you paint your new CF bonnet white , I like ALL white Rs. I had a melt down and bought a Black one, one of many mistakes, lol You look like having yours back on the road soon, Looking forward to see what you get out of it. 6'8" you would have your butt rubbing on the ground, I need a cushion to see over the steering wheel, haha -
Test For Coolant System Additives To Stop Leaks
Nismo 3.2ish replied to Nismo 3.2ish's topic in General Maintenance
Hi Ben, all the best for Xmas and the New Year All happened at the wrong time of the year, everyone wants their cars back and by the time my motor hit the machine shop , mine was on the end of the list but I am leaning to have a little patients, very little, haha You should not have said that word, might get the heap tuned for response this time and disregard the top end, there will still be heaps at the top for me. As it was the injectors and turbo were close to max. While it is in the shop I might toss in some different cams and see what happens ? Mmmmmm response, yeah supercharge my Tiida , have to get the R back on the road first , that could be a while, lol -

I am busting to get it back. Miss my toy, going to end up close to a year when all of this lot started before I get it back. I have total confidence with the companies doing the work. The motor builder is independent. No cracked block but looks like something that happened with the build, not a leaking radiator hose. I will wait until I have the diagnostic report and costs, I will have to be 100% sure before I do anything, but I do not like the idea of paying twice to end up with the same motor. Could get messy , I hope not, but? -

Well, not until I can drive it without topping up every day. Then play with a few things while it is in the shop and a new tune, The End, I hope -

Nismo 3.2ish replied to Nismo 3.2ish's topic in General Maintenance
I wish, not back together yet but being sorted at a motor builder at the moment , some parts at the machinist being finished off, it was a bit close to the holidays, but the bloke doing the work is giving it as much time as he can and will be able to work on it in the new year, but the leak was found and being fixed, sent back to the builder and put back together. Then sent back to Jez, back in, tuned and YEAH, a late Chrisy present I made that sound easy -
