  1. LOL And since when did you become NSW Prez Eric? Congrats.
  2. Apparently the M3 is given to him by BMW Australia and he is able to drive it for any situation tennis related (work) and for Tennis and BMW related (promotions). So basically I see that he is able to drive the M3 where ever and when ever he likes, especially as now is the Aust Open/Australian Tennis season looks like Tomic should get off all charges if this is true. Also depends how the Judge sees it.
  3. Neither can I, but it doesn't matter what you, Duncan, myself or the queen of England thinks, the fact is the RTA/Queensland equivalent gave him the exemption, so there was a valid enough reason for it according to them, the people that make the rules and give out exemptions after weighing up the need for such a vehicle gave him the exemption which means he is allowed to purchase or drive that car, so I can not undrstand understand the logic behind people here saying that he should have bought the non V8 version???? WHy does he have to if he is legally given an exemption for it? What if you got the exemption and decided to get a GTS-t and you were actually doing what you thought was within your restrictions but you get police attention and it makes it to the news and people on a forum start saying crap like "you shouldn't be driving that car anyway" or "you should have bought the non turbo version" when really you had every right to as you had a permit to buy and drive it for whatever reason???
  4. I was refering to Duncans post about how he said Tomic had an option of buying a non turbo/v8 car and infering he is pissing on the laws for purchasing a car that he needs a permit to drive. If he is given an exemption/permit to drive a car that is restricted, as long as he abides by the conditions there is nothing wrong with him buying an M3 and driving it (as long as it is used according to the conditions of the permit). In NSW I know 4 Green P-platers who are not mechanics or related to the car industry who drive V8's and Turbos. One drives a Pre 2000 V8 Statesman, One drives an R35, One drives a Blue Bently GTC and another has access to an R33gtst. I have no Idea about QLD, but i'm sure it is very similar if not the same as NSW. It doesn't matter if a member of the general public agrees or not if some people have valid enough reasons to drive restricted cars, as long as they have a permit and they don't break the rules they have every right to drive or buy it. It is like getting a permit to go hunting, if you follow the restrictions and the permit is valid, then you can shoot as you like according to the permit, exactly the same as the P-plate permit, break the rules then suffer the consequenses, follow the rules then what anyone else says is invalid. I NEVER SAID TOMIC IS IN THE RIGHT AND FOR THE 3RD TIME I REPEAT THE CHANCES ARE THAT THE COPS ARE PROBABLY IN THE RIGHT!!! If he has done wrong then bad luck for him, but there is a whole lot of assuming going on and hypotheticals, at the end of the day we are going of info from the media, and anyone that makes a decision on something purely by the info given by the media is an absolute moron.
  5. A choice between an M3 and a 320i..... lol Sorry Duncan but your on your own with this one. The law says he can drive it Plenty of people on the forums get exemptions for Nissan turbo cars, why should it be different just because he is famous and drives an M3? Personally I think he is a cock head, should have gone home after the first run in, guess time will tell if he was in the right or wrong, but for all we know he could have been caught the second time comming back from an hour at the courts (his work) to let off some steam after the first incident... I recon his father is guiding him wrong though, usually is the case with young sports stars.
  6. Really harsh there, considering we don't know the whole story... I really love how the news crew was there when they originally pulled him over... so not set up at all. How can you get an exemption for no reason? In the film clip I see a V8 Range Rover and the M3, both need an exemption for a P plater to drive, legit reason for him to have an exemption is he doesn't have a non Pplate exempt car to drive, hundreds of others have the same exemption. And this statement is a bit of an Oxymoron " considering the fact that he was probably violating the terms of his exemption anyway.". Fact and probably in the same sentence.... Tomic should have gone home after the first incident unless his exemption is valid and him getting caught the second time was within his exemption conditions. Although chances are the cops are right.
  7. Sounds like a solid 5 year plan lol
  8. Can't we change the name to "Operation KillerWasps" instead????? Not all highenders get off... Bernard Tomic got done lol My link
  9. As with ABS and powersteering, the technology eventually becomes available to more as it gets cheaper. How isn't a HSV "high end"??? bogan royalty!!! New HSV's arn't exactly cheap either though...
  10. Lol nah he has a black SLS these days
  11. oh yeah Happy OZ Day
  12. Get high end or rare cars and they will leave you alone. The Gallardo gets 115-120dB with stock exhaust when the valves open up after about 3500-4000rpm out of it's 10 000rpm range (according to google), Same as the Mercie. Clearly you can see they grab heaps of police attention especially as they are both running capristo exhausts (much much louder), they always say "sounds a bit loud?" I just smile Never been to pits for these cars but many a "RBT". Many cars are louder than the rules say they should be even from stock. I can't see why one completely stock car is exempt yet a stock R33 or R34 is stil louder than the rules say and they get prosecuted???? Is it because the high end cars have exhaust valves that only open up at higher RPM (hardly call 3500-4000rpm a high rpm), besides in the G and in most other valve exhausts you simply block a vaccume line and the valves stay open, really takes less than a minute to do... I agree they should be taking unsafe cars off the road, but defecting stock cars simply because they don't meet nazi style strict unrealistic regulations is a joke. I had a Kia Rio back in the days and I believe it was louder than 90db completely stock, and those older Ford KA's and smart cars are bloody loud for a tiny stock car as well and I don't think anyone bothers them... To be fair though the people in the video are massive jerks, i'd take them off the road as well untill they grow a new attitude, going on about how "cops get their heads kicked in" etc... too bad the broarder population thinks that everyone in a 2 door sport car is a hoon and a stereotype that ACA reports... I'm so not looking forward to comming back to Australian roads, couple weeks ago I was doing around 112kph in a 100zone, copper doing radar on my car didn't even flintch as they genuinely look for dangerous drivers purposely driving too fast for the conditions. I still love how Australia and the UK have one of the highest road death tolls for a developed western country, and they are also the most strict.... Clearly The Aus/British way doesn't help save lives, at least the traesury gets rich...
  13. Do you know an RTA employee???? loll I heard it's not called RTA anymore, been away from OZ for 8 months and everything turns upside-down
  14. Unsure... RTA records show it is "1978 Yellow Datsun Skyline Sedan" "JWB882, #07855, 1250kg" Rego Details "Cancelled", Expired on 12/09/2004, same for CTP. How long ago did you sell it?
  15. An R35 couldn't do that lol
  16. Wow 39 000km, that is a little over 1000km per year. Original tyres from 1977? Would have thought they'd have gone hard and cracked to the shitter 20 years ago... Congrats
  17. Pure porn
  18. Did I buy R33 parts off you 1 or 2 years ago???? Your display pic looks familiar...
  19. Wizlb long time no see, I see you sold the R33???
  20. Actually on the lines of plibber my old sereis 2 FMIC used to rub on the front bar/reinforcement bar and used to sound like squeeks and chirps.... instead of fixing the problem I just kept spraying WD40 along it untill it got dirty enough not to make the sound anymore.... did the trick though lol
  21. Also can not alter profile info or use any of the functions in my profile, which I never use but I tried it out and it says "action failed".
  22. Ok in this thread I can write in the "fast reply" box, but I can not quote or click the "add reply" button as it opens a window that does not let me type in a reply. Hope this info helps.
  23. I have noticed this since last week, for some reason I can write in this thread. When I click to "reply" or "quote" it takes me to a page where i can view other peoples posts, and I can click on emoticons and add photos, but their is no provision for actually typing anything in, no reply box comes up. When I try to click "post" it doesn't respond either. Hope this message gets through.
