  1. Can get passed as a Personal import one off car and get RTA approval for it (if it were RHD which it isn't), or can come over as a holliday car for X amount of months and cops can't touch it, even if it was running slicks. Only down side is you have to leave a bond to the value of 100% of the cars worth with customs which is reclaimed when the car leaves the country. So an $11M bond. God that is an ugly monstrocity
  2. Are you sure the RRP is $168k + on road tax AND LCT????
  3. video would help, otherwise there are literally hundreds of things it could be.
  4. Pay it or forget about that car. When I was 20 I bought an R33 GTS-t series 2. I still remeber the first insurance slip, $3600. I paid it. Sold it in May, insurance last renewal was $1600 (24 years old). 25 now So I wonder what it would have gone down to... Either Risk it with no insurance, Don't buy it or pay full comp. Good luck but it does suck for a few years
  5. I don't get it, it is the same link as the one I posted before that started the discussion off???
  6. Well OP, I guess you might as well start trying for Ms Hawkns then, who cares about the car if you have that... PS: Post up a video of it afterwards
  7. Heaps of people would be buying the R35 for the value aspect above all else. I still don't get the "value" aspect though, who cares about price difference, If a Porsche makes you happy then get it, if an R35 makes you happy then get that, if a falcadore makes you happy then get that. Just because something is value for one person doesn't mean it is value for another. Everyone has different levels of what they consider something to be expensive... I just don't understand the single minded view of people from both the R35 or the Porsche camp. You are both wrong Veyron Supersport FTW lol. Any REAL car enthusiast can accept a good car purely because it is a good car, a car enthusiast doesn't blindly diss all other cars just because of a price tag. If you are set on value for money, get a crutch rocket. When you buy cars over $200k you arn't buying for "value", you are buying for other reasons depending on the person. Some buy for looks, some buy for brand, some buy to be seen, some buy for heritage and history, some buy for performance, some buy to race, some buy for weekend, some buy for investments, some buy to rent out on weekends, some buy purely for the engine noise.... When will Nissan put a V8 or bigger in their cars, f*k the environment and 50:50 distribution, I want noise and smoke. My inner bogan is comming out lol
  8. Why would your friend need two turbos already and even consider buying the same ones again???
  9. Unfortunately No chance in a million years. Next time only drive as fast as the conditions allow and try not to cross double unbroken lines, there is a reason why the white concrete block is there, obviously people take that corner too quickly and cross to the other side of the road which is a big NO NO. I wouldn't be surprised if it was put there because someone came around that same corner and had a low speed head on accident there. Good driver driving class 101: always drive to the conditions. I bet you really shit your pants when you hit it though and didn't know why the car was jumping around. Just an unfortunate accident.
  10. It almost sounds like Porsche has given up trying to beat Nissan and are simply going to match it in performance and let the brand name sell for them??? Atleast you can still get a traditional manual though. But with claims of the new 911 carrera s doing the ring in 7:40 at only 294kw (which is a huge feat for just their second cheapest entry level car), I would be very surprised if the new gt2rs next year can't beat the R35's 7.24 time. Then the 2013 R35 will have to beat that and so on and so forth.... lol I wonder who is going to be the first to make a flux capacitor and travel back in time? lol
  11. Just came across this.... You guys won't like it lol And what about GT-R? PCA spokesperson Paul Ellis says: "GT-R is not a rival. People who buy the Nissan do so because they want our car and can't afford it." http://www.carpoint.com.au/reviews/2011/prestige-and-luxury/porsche/911/porsche-911-carrera-s-27736 Either way the rival between Porsche and Nissan have really mad things interesting. I doubt either companies would have bothered improving their cars so much if they weren't fighting for Nurburgring times. Nissan seems to be moving towards 0-100 times (American influenc much?) where as Porsche is still after the Nurburgring on home soil. Can't wait for the latest GTR to vs the latest Porsche GT2,gt3, RS, Turbo variants. Both companies dick slinging PR contests will be out in full force lol.
  12. Hahahaha I agree. You can tell what sort of people they are when they start acting like fully sicks when they are in need of help. I hope it wasn't insured either.

    Help

DFT will do nothing about it and car wash won't have any liability to it, especially as there is no other damage caused by them such as a dent or other sections of the paint flaking off due to misstreatment or harsh chemicals. Looking around the pic with the 50cent coin in it, it is clear the paint is not in good condition, not to mention the car is over 20 years old now. Having only noticed the issue after leaving the premesis will only make your case even harder to prove. Might as well send DFT a letter or call them up as it wont cost you anything other than your time. But don't be surprised if you get nothing out of it. You mention buffing, harsh chemicals or gunnery. I would guess that it wasn't buffed as it is a run of the mill carwash place (unless you opted for it?), it definately isn't hard chemicals as it is only localised to a small section of the car and you would not be the only one with the issue being vocal about it. My money would be on a high pressure cleaner that unluckily got under some previous damage, most likely from a stone chip, as the paint is old and the bond between it and the metal has been damaged by Australias heat and sun rays, this is more than likely the case. There is nothing wrong with high pressure cleaning, but it just shouldn't be done on older cars original paint with damage on it.
  14. Not true, my gf had an 06 astra coupe and it never missed a beat. Although she bought it at 10 000km and sold it at 60 000km. But an 01 model is vastly different to the 06. And it is common knowledge that they arnt the most reliable cars around.
  15. Doubt you will get anything out of it. This is from Feburary, 8 months ago.... you mentioned warranty but there is no warranty now (assuming because your car has 180 000km and 10 years old). At worst mechanics have to give 3 months on their work but as stated 8 months is much more than 3 months. Also price of a service does not mean they have to use top quality products, although they should, you should also have checked but i know easier said than done. You seem to have been done pretty bad, DFT wont be able to help though, they will send him a letter that explains the issue and would he like to rectify it directly with you. He will say get lost. Just like he did when you txt him, this guy doesn't care about you or customer service to you, it is his shop, he can treat you how he likes, you have to love it or leave it, no one has to be nice to anyone in business, all you can do is not take the car back to him and tell your friends about what a shit mechanic he is... Radiator hoses are one of those things, especially in higher milage and aged cars, they can look fine on the outside and even on the inside, but there can be a part that has aged more than the rest that gets brittle and just breaks. Over 8 months a lot of change can happen to a used radiator hose in that time. Probably better this mechanic didn't do your hoses as well, otherwise your bill would be like $3k and the bloody thing would still break lol. I would recomend putting the whole experience behind you but learn from it. And maybe start doing some work yourself. The only way to get exactly what you pay for is to DIY, besides it can be fun, rewarding and generally save $$$$, unless you wreck something or then get addicted to mods and then start doing everything possible to your caqr which then also gets expensive, but well worth it lol. Good luck
  16. And you got a promotion and I got a demotion, now you are Vic club Exec
  17. That also needs to be updated, 360 gone. Added an Alfa GT lol. Needed a LHD practical car for long distance highway driving
  18. Then R35 hands down. Unless there is something about the R34 that you really must have????
  19. You clearly have not driven In these countries. The autobahns are not as good as we think they are, they are maintained better most of the part but not always, and the M4 is a much better high speed road than most autobahns. And no they don't have shit box vls with chopped springs, they have all sorts of cars (shit and good) with chopped springs and old suspension.... But why would anyone turn an internal city motorway Into an unlimited road???? That doesn't make sense, the Hume highway for a lot of it could be done. But then the gov will use re animal road kill excuse not to do it again... Like Europe doesn't have any wild animals venturing onto the roads...
  20. It only states 3 methods of importing cars, what about Personal Imports...??? Cheers
  21. The idiots are the 9-5ers who sit in an office all day and catch public transport all week and simply forget how to drive by the time the weekend comes. And I don't like how you use the word "spastics" in that way... Poor effort
  22. Lol how is this going to work and is the gov going to divert the police from the troublesome night spots just to catch p platers flouting the crazy laws??? This and a billion other recommendations and laws sound like they are being made up purely for the sake of bureaucrats trying to justify keeping their jobs... I still stand by ute drivers, bmw druvers and vehicles with the southern cross sticker to be the most wanly drivers about. 16% of drivers are p platers, 25% of accidents, not to mention inexperience being the main factor but also what is the first thing you do hen you get your licence??? Go out for a drive, what do you do for the next 3 years doing with your new found freedom????? Go out driving for the sake of driving. The more you are on the road the more chance you will have an accident... Simple really... I would be extremely surprised If the average p plater spends less time driving than the average middle aged person.... But why do I care, I got off my p's years ago. Also left the country months ago... I like Italy's unwritten speeding laws, the police will only pull you over if they think your speed is dangerous, ie: the highway limit is 130km/hr, if you are doing between 131-150ish you won't get a fine from a fixed or point to point camera. If you are doing umder 180 and a hand held radar gets you and you are in a High performance car, the copper will tell you off for not going faster... And we all know how Germany is with their liberal speeds... And these counties still have less percentage of road deaths than Australia and the UK even with their nazi like curfews and rules. Although italy has a heap more minor prangs, mainly because of congestion and people not following the road markings...
