Can An Auto R34 Gt-t Skyline Still Be Modified To Outperform An Auto V8?
Sammy34 replied to Samhain's topic in Queensland
Thers no real point comparing an auto skyline to an auto v8, honestly theres a great old debate you see pop up from time to time of which is better and in all honesty its a money game nothing else. As for auto transmission, there are people out there that swear by auto's and same goes for manuals. Both gearboxes have there benefits. turbo auto cars dont need to come off boost to change gears for example. There are always mods you can do to an autos gearbox to increase its performance like a manual valve body conversion, once again its just a money game. I drive an auto r34 and love it, btw im in the same boat as you, no manual license and couldnt be bothered to go out and get one. -
As it states in the title, im after an aftermarket plenum for an rb25 Neo + throttlebody. Im in brisbane on the south side. 0435001658

hahah sorta need it now lol. Think ill just get my current turbo done. Also means I'll need injectors so mite get a fuel rail done.

MM so I spoke to my mechanic, could be anything, worst case senario turbo is Mcrooted. could be a intercooler piping problem which could result in the turbo overworking so we have the same outcome of turbo Mcrooted. Gana look at getting it repaired and hi flowed. Or a resonably priced bolt on.
-
So my turbo this morning has begun to give some terrible signs of shaft play. So in the mean time looks like i will be getting a small bolt on for the next couple of months or highflow so i can get from point a to b. Shit always breaks at the worst time... lol

Wanto buy turbo for my car, would prefer something liek a 2835 pro s or 3071r as long as t3 flange not a high mount turbo. Need to buy asap my turbo has shat itself. got $1200 to spend but willing to figure something out for the right turbo.
-
yeh nylon. Done a quick squizz aroudn the ent and it does seem to be shaft play :S looks like i will be starting my cars upgrades sooner than i thought.
-
ah the better part of 3 months I guess, and I dont really drive my car llike a maniac. If its shaft play, its already starting to happen at 10psi so i may as well start looking for a new turbo regardless yeh?

THIS LOW RPM ENGINE STALLING SAGA POSSIBLY SORTED
Sammy34 replied to BOOSTMEISTER's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Heya, Ive had a similar problem on my r34 gtt. Although it seems to happen when the car is warm and im reversing, turn the stearing wheel and bam revs drop and sometimes car stalls. May I also add i drive an auto r34 and i have a hks fuel pump and nistune + fuel reg. Think it may be the bov but better to be sure before spending the money. Also add that the car will never die enless im moving in reverse or turning the steering wheel while moving slowly and the car needs to be warm. -
This may not be a problem at all, its probably just me being over protective of my car. Currently Im running standard turbo on r34 gtt at 13psi. The turbo sounds fine up until around 10psi then it makes lick a loud flickering sounds, possible could be described as a vibration sound under heavy load. I need to do some more testing myself while driving but i seems to only happen when i put my car under heavy load once its already moving NOT on a fast take off. I thought it may be a bit of shaft play or something along those lines. One again I may be being over protective of my car but it just doesnt sounds right to me. Anyone got any ideas of what it may be?

yeh that was me hehe, got the nistune sticker left quarter

haha cheers, Yeh i soughted the break problem out, it took 4 new discs and a set of red stuff brake pads front and back to fix it. Mind you the problems were. Discs wernt machined properly then they didnt bolt the brake caliper up and it came off the second time. Then I got the discs machined and they machined them way way too far, then the rotors warped because of it, iw ent through 3 sets of brake pads front and back and now i need a whole new set of wheel studs because one of the companies I will not name put wheel nuts on that were too small and destroyed 2 wheel studs on both sides of the rear. Havent gotten the new wheel studs yet but the brakes are soughted now thank god. Its an important lesson that most people should learn from. Dont get brakes done at tyre places enless your 120% sure they know what there doing or lese it wil cost your your arm and leg. And possibley alot more. If your looking at upgrading brakes go to Brakes Plus at Capalaba, great bunch of blokes and trust when I say, from personal experiance I know that they know what there doing.

Nah using a nistune vg30 chip. Will look at upgrading it if it becomes too much for what im using. But Nistunes from my knowledge have handled up to 500hp as to date.

So thought I'd just start a post on my build for my r34 GTT. Current mods that have been done, Are about to get done and planning. So my cars a R34 GTT, Auto Gearbox and will be staying auto. Im looking for around 300rwkw's a responsive drive and plenty of tourqe. Work with the cams will be assential as we want the car coming on boost as early as possible. If theres anything I have forgotten to add that I will require please list.

From my understanding for a carbon fibre bonnet to be legal in QLD it needs to be fitted to or with some form of steel frame at the front point of the car to help prevent splintering in accidents and also to secure the bonnet to the car using the standard bonnet clips. (This is only from what I have herd and my understanding)

they do alot of different ecu's. Haltech, power fc, wolf, nistune... just give them a call and tell them what your looking for and they will be more than happy to help you out.
-
absolutely dan. Im extremely happy with how my car was treated and performed. I guess in the end everyone has there personal preferences with ECU's and as dan would know i did alot of research into how i was going to go about having my cars computer upgraded and in the end this was the best choice I could have made, taking into consideration that my car was an automatic. So anyways next step is one of EFI's custom fuel rails with 550cc sard top fed injectors and some form of turbo... hahaha. Maybe a gt3071, not sure yet but will post up after its all done and get up a new dyno result.
-
There could be a number of things that cause that not particularly the tuner. Some cars pull some numbers out of there arse for no reason. But a 40kw gain at the wheels from just the chip was a huge increase for my car. But heres the difference between a power FC and nistune. The nissan computer is more intelligent than any aftermarket computer your going to be putting in your car so why get rid of it? And im assuming that your car would be a manual if your running a power FC and thats why you would be making bigger number on less mods. Fuel pump and the fuel reg dont give me power just allow my car to get to my goal of 250rwkw's without any fuel delivery problems.

vg30 chip mate, number 4 chip

So I had my car in today at EFI performance on the gold coast. Great bunch of blokes, very proffesional and excellent prices. I had a nistune done and im absolutely stoked both with the chip, the performance I gained and seans (i think its sean its a bit late and im crashin) ability to tune these chips. For all you who dont know sean learnt to tune from possibly the best and one of the most well known tuners Matt Spry. The nistune chip alone performs far better than any power FC you would be able to get your hands on as long as your not chasing over 500hp. I will post up my dyno results as soon as possible, as its too late to do it now I will get onto it tomorow. But ym 34gtt before the tuning began was running extremely rich during the middle of the power curve causing the car to miss fire at around 5000rpm but the car gained today 40rwkw's from the nistune making 180rwkw's on an automatic gear box with the following mods. FMIC Apexi Pod Turbo back exhaust 3" AVCR boost controller on 13psi HKS Fuel Pump (on teh standard nissan flow rate for the car) Turbosmart Fuel Reg Splitfires HKS SSQV So next step is fuel rail with 550cc injectors and turbo (which im yet to decide on which avanue img onig to take) But all in all. EFI offered both excellent customer service, there allr eally down to earth blokes whoa re willing to explain stuff thuroughly. And they certainly know there cars. And on another note there about to move to yatala which is going to make there shop more accessible for all you brissie boys and girls. Nistune cost $850 all up including the chip for 395 and 170 an hour on the dyno. Fraction of the price of a Power FC and far superior in my opinion if your not chasing any rediculously huge numbers.
