  1. Although I am sure I will wince at the service costs, that is the price you pay to factory maintain a performance car of this level. The cost of the car compared with other 'supercars' has no real relationship to the cost of maintaining the complex engineering (which is no less complex or advanced than that of the lambos ferraris or porsche, some would say more advanced!). That being said, yes I am ready to be stung hard. Who cares anyway, this isn't a pulsar for crying out loud!
  2. My dealer has kindly called to inform me that installing quality aftermerket wheels should not be a problem with either the warranty or the POS (unless they are dogs to balance!) thanks to those who may have been making the right noises behind the scenes (you know who you are)
  3. yes, I am checking on warranty laws with the help of others. it seems silly to stop a set of genuine performace wheels being put on a car with the same dimension and tyres. Although cosmetic and maybe no where near as controversial/important as the other track pre/post dealer inspection concerns posted on the other thread, it will be a common scenario. myself or others involved will keep you all up to date
  4. Lets be clear on this one folks. Warranty or no warranty, I'm getting pretty damn horny for this car... yes 18's with the better range of tyres available are well documented to track faster. They do look ridiculous on the street though. See one of the previous threads: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3....html&hl=18
  5. From the dealer: I have reviewed the warranty notes that have been provided to me by Nissan Australia with respect to the fitment of aftermarket wheels or tyres. The document states that Nissan will not warrant a vehicle that is fitted with non standard GTR wheels and or tyres. Additionally the performance optimization services to be performed on the vehicle at 2,000 k’s, 12months, 24 months & 36 months which are paid for by Nissan Australia will be at your cost if the wheels are fitted. Never heard of warranty going on tyres before!
  6. The performance optimization services are at regular intervals until 36 months
  7. My car is to be delivered to me in about 4 weeks I am told. The manager at my dealership tells me that Nissan is instructing all Dealers not to provide the 'complimentary performance servicing' at the specified milage for anyone with aftermarket wheels, suspension or exhaust mods. I am not sure whether he means they will not perform the free service at all or they will perform it at a cost. He was informed of nissan's stance on this at the recent GT-R training/education session held in Melbourne for those dealerships involved in selling the cars . I was planning on getting a set of 20" HRE comp 90's for the car, a genuine performance wheel which doesn't bust the scales. Has anyone had this conversation with their dealer? Should I care about their 'performance servicing' schedule?
  8. my kids are going to have a ball with that feature
  9. same story in queensland arrives in dealership mid to late march, delivery early April no VIN yet, just an order number
  10. sure the weight savings and measures to improve handling are vital in any track car. I still cannot fathom Nissans choice to ignore power gains for improving the spec V. there are the usual few internet chat room warriors who believe they didn't want to upgrade the transmission but surely the standard transmission and engine would have handled moderate power/torque gains judging from the tuned cars already out there. I hope there is more to this story for the spec V's sake.
  11. Apparently Mizuno san wants to keep things restricted so engines and transmissions have to be ordered through nissan delearships to help thwart the grey imports....
  12. Apparently they produce a number of other vehicles at the Tochigi plant for which demand has dropped, efficiencies and redundancies I assume.
  13. To anyone with an ADM R35 on order. Have you discussed aftermarket wheels and exhaust with your delears? If you have discussed this, did you get the expected factory warranty response as I did (no commitment to yes or no and caveats regarding direct cause of failure etc.) or did you get something more favourable? I had an aftermarket exhaust on my subie years back that subaru aus weren't concerned about. I am happy not to experiment with ECU mods at present given they are a sure way to screw your warranty. I suspect that nissan will be very precious about mods no matter how small and that people with nissan dealer experience may laugh at my question! Ayone discuss reversing cameras, satnav and ipod integration? I have got little in the way of satisfactory answers accept to say 'yes, maybe, oneday' Just curious as to others experience.
  14. Gibbo, Snowman + anyone else with orders. Have you discussed aftermarket wheels and exhaust with your delears? If so did you get the expected repsonse (no commitment to yes or no and caveats regarding direct cause of failure etc.) or did you get something more favourable? I had an aftermarket exhaust on my subie years back that subaru aus weren't concerned about. I suspect though that nissan will be very precious about mods no matter how small and that people with nissan dealer experience may laugh at my question! Will probably end up throwing these minor mods on regardless but just curious as to others experience. Might start a thread.
  15. Thanks Snowman. I have similar confirmation. Mine is also one of the 'lucky' orders due for build in Feb, shipping March and delivery in April. There is a confirmed 50% cut in producton which will be affecting some of those previously scheduled for a Feb build date/April customer delivery from my source.
  16. You have all been beaten to the punch by 'giant' on the 16th Jan. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ad...tr-t252793.html Still funny the second time round though!
  17. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Featu...rticleId=140966 Interesting read. Possible lower RPM launch control function Vs Launch control being completely removed? Not sure if I have read this right or if it applies equally to Aus DM R35s (I would assume it is to be universally applied). Although the GTR is primarily designed as a track weapon, it will be interesting to see acceleration and 1/4 mile times with what sounds like a new toned down launch control function. "The revised programming, Nissan promises, will offer acceleration similar to that with the current launch control, but will do so while the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system remains on. Instead of launching at 4,500 rpm as the original launch control system does, the new system will launch at considerably fewer revs. (Nissan isn't quite sure what this final number will be, but it will be more than the 2,000 rpm currently used when the car is brake-torqued for an acceleration run with the VDC turned on.)" (Quote from the Edmunds inside line article link above)
  18. Def. Cool - fashionably attractive or impressive Basically equates to conformity, to hell with that. Top gear is entertaining but it is mass market media, it is an entertainment show rather than an informative program (cue ridiculously contrived novelty events and now a world wide traveling circus). I watch it far a glimpse at the cars I will never own and for the novelty factor, not for an informative appraisal of the cars they test. I suspect the presenters don't take themselves or their opinions too seriously either, they would probably be the first to admit in person that it is all a bit of a laugh.

    R35 Vs M6

Own a 540i sport (Dec 2005). Nice engine, nice build, extremely comfortable. Test drove the current M3, great car, not a supercar though. Have an R35 on order, suspect I've made the right decision for my list of wants. I guess I will find out in May when it arrives. As for the M6, not a track car full stop. Good for cruising I suppose but why compare it with a track car? Chalk and cheese.
  20. Why am I not so excited with these mods?
  21. Sent a letter back to Nissan explaining their mistake, maybe should have sent a letter back demanding my MY09 has 375 kW!
  22. The text below has been lifted straight out of a letter from nissan I have just received. I assume all other guys with an ADM pre order will have received the email today or yesterday also. The kW quoted must be a typo, possibly 357 kW after reviewing the website and reading previous posts for the series II? Tuesday, 30 December, 2008. Subject: GT-R MY09 Updates We have some excellent news from our Nissan Marketing Division that I am sure you will be pleased to hear which outlines the MY09 changes applicable to the Australian delivered GT-R’s next year. Major changes of interest across all models include: - Power increase to 375kw (up from 353kw, there is no change to torque) - Increase in fuel tank capacity to 74 litres (up from 73 litres) - Decrease in overall length to 4,650mm(down from 4,655mm, achieved via a change to the registration plate mount) - Changes to Brake (stiffer brake hoses) and Suspension settings (altered spring rates) to further improve ride and handling characteristics - Changes to alloy wheels (is outlined in attachment) The improvement in engine power is the result of ECU tuning and engine craftsman’s accuracy and skill level gains. As mentioned, I am sure you will be pleased to read this information and to have confirmation you will be getting the latest updates of this truly magnificent car. The Website www.nissangtr-au.com.au has been updated to reflect these changes.
  23. Yeah, 100+ launches with some serious mumbo. Great sacrifice for mankind. http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?sh...=27307&st=0 Good to see how much of a beating it really took to bust the transmission. Finally a guy with a real story to tell and no BS. Can't wait for the rebuild!
  24. That front spoiler/canard combo is one that only a mother could love.
  25. Good to see some sensible posts coming through in this thread from both the ADM and JDM guys out there. Seriously, if you listened to all the BS and were buying either Nissan Aus or imported GTR R35's you could be forgiven for wanting to slash your wrists or filing for bankruptcy!
