  1. have you put new spark plugs in it lately??
  2. check all your electrical plugs connecting to your coil packs, i had a similar issue and the yellow wedge inside the connector was broken so when i pushed the connector on, it pushed the terminals out the rear of the connector causing the missfire.
  3. Good job, If it keeps working How often do you look at the bottom of the coils anyway...
  4. gday guys, tried to search for a price for a tps, I went to the local nissan dealer and they gave me the price of about $208 dollars for a tps. does this sound correct??
  5. when the thermo fans are running it will load up the alternator more causing a drain on the engines power, the question is how does this engine power drain compare with the standard fan?? when the thermo's are not running the engine will have better response compared to the standard fan cos the standard fan never fully disengages so to speak.
  6. would love to see a few lap race against the v8's at bathurst.. kill to see it..
  7. Ok just tested it. ignition on engine off battery voltage was 12.5 Coil voltage was 12.4 when it was idling battery voltage was 13.7 Coil Voltage was 13.4 when it was revving about 4000rpm battery voltage was 14.3 coil voltage was 13.7 not a huge drop but i guess it all makes a difference. the car seems a bit better since i took some fuel out of the tune this arvo. i also found on cyl #6 you know the yellow wedge in the coil plug that holds the terminals in place. it was broken on #6 and the terminals pushed out the back when i put the plug back in. So i put them on properly maybe they were not contacting very well. time for a new coil loom also. I'm pretty sure they are all contacting well now tho. (before i did this voltage check) what do you think??
  8. I will go out and test them now. let ya know what i find.
  9. So how do i find were the problem is?? will it be the ignition module or bad connections in the coil/ignition loom or something else??
  10. i tested the feed + wire earlier before reading this but i didn't test it while it was running. I'm getting 12.2 volts with the ignition on but not running and the battery measures 12.4 volts. I'l test what you said soon and post my results. thanks for the help. i also changed my spark plugs again and removed some fuel from the tune when off boost i think it's an over fueling issue also compounding the problem. but i dont have a exhaust sniffer (air/fuel) meter so i'm a bit cautious of leaning it out.
  11. where did you purchase the jjr coils from??
  12. what do you do about the ignition module?? my last one died a couple of months back now this one is starting to play up also. is there a better aftermarket one available??
  13. So you are saying to get splitfire or stay standard?? my reliability is out the window at the moment with the setup i have so i need to try something hey..
  14. I already have a microtech lt12s ecu, but im having ignition problems. i will be running six coils and im looking at getting a microtech x6 ignition module to replace the standard one. apparently they can handle more dwell. all up the coils are $300 with mounting brackets and the ignition module is $150. so both are still cheaper then splitfires..
  15. what are the reasons/advantages from this?? very interesting.
  16. just wondering if anyone is using bosch coils with their RB turbo's?? how do they compare to splitfire's? bit of a backward step going to plug lead setup but they are heaps cheaper.
  17. Is your guages plumbed into the turbo side of the throttle body or the manifold side?? If its on the turbo side you may get a spike on the guage when you back off to shift gears because all of the sudden you have all this boost in the pipes with no where to go (cos the throttle body has shut) so the pressure builds up quickly before it backs up to dose. If you have a blow off valve disregard everything i just said. just a thought..
  18. yeah ok. pretty sure timing is at 15 degrees i have a microtech computer also.
  19. maybe get them to check your oil pressure with a mechanical guage. they will temporarily remove your sender and put their guage in and check it that way..
  20. Gday all I have a slight problem happening with my car it's an rb20det auto and sometimes when im just bringing the car off idle from a stop sign or traffic lights, it will hesitate, feels like it's going to stall for a split second then it will pull away like it should have the first time. it only happens if i let the car come back to idle tho. if i hold the revs up just off idle and ride the brake it wont do it. I have a feeling it is the TPS but just wondering if any one else has had this problem. thanks guys.
  21. hey all, did this on my rb20det this arvo, very very easy on the 2 litres. not half the amount of junk to pull of. one wire connector, one hose and four bolts. the solenoids dont have o-rings under them on this type either. it has a different seal setup inside. only has one spring back inside the solenoid, one spool in the valve and the idle screw. mine was idling pretty good to start with but it was full of crud. also i just counted the amount of turns when removing the idle screw, cleaned it all then screwed it back into the same position and the idle was unchanged. seriously only took 15 minutes.
  22. yeah ok, didn't realise. thanks.
