  1. Any aftermarket ECU will have issues for the autobox with regards to retarding timing on shifts. The people that run autos with PowerFC's, Emanage or any other aftermarket ECU accept the compromise of harsher shifts and higher wear on the auto.
  2. rwkw vs flywheel not that ash needs help defending since what he wrote allows for drivetrain loss.
  3. You can get a GT3071 in external gate form as it comes from the same turbine family as the GT3076. I would stick with your original plan and go the GT3076 there is no need to wring the neck of the turbo to make your power target and you will have some headroom if you want with minimal penalty. If you have a HKS cast manifold (divided) I would use it as it opens up the possibility of using a T3 flanged twin scroll turbine housing like ATPturbo.com sell. You are going to need to fabricate some exhaust and intake bits to make it fit anyway so it makes little difference if you change manifolds at the same time to a superior option (since you have it on hand).
  4. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Hk...ni-t290487.html RBLOCO is selling a very nice example here.
  5. Time to prove the naysayers wrong. You should remove and replace the factory manifold studs anyway so it should be easy to dummy fit the HKS mani and GT3076 turbo while it is all off. Whoever is doing the work can then see the scale of modifications (if any at all).
  6. Hi Disco it will only be a small amount that needs to be trimmed.....if any at all.
  7. A shame McLaren won't be using KERS next year. (If i understand the stance of FOTA correctly). KERS is the answer to the problem with overtaking in F1 as it allows a mistake by a driver to be pounced on by a following car (assuming they haven't used all the stored energy). It is unfortunate it has been implemented in a half-baked way. It seems unfair that larger framed drivers are at a significant disadvantage to the point where it is unusable in its current stage of development. 2012 should be enough time to implement it in all cars but I think they were talking 2013.
  8. at this rate Webber will be starting from the front of pit lane ahead of 19 other crashed cars.
  9. Care to share what you found that was different?
  10. Funny that Fisi did the same thing during the race in Singapore and didn't have to yield his spot....sure he was racing for the wooden spoon but it makes you scratch your head. Renault's penalty is staying in F1 for another 2 or 3 years when they wanted out.
  11. Series 2 has solid lifters, the Series 1 have hydraulic lifters.
  12. umm...no. I didn't say hack up a HKS GT-RS. I said it is a GT2871 (52 trim comp). So if someone wanted a close approximation then making a hybrid turbo out of a factory housing machined out to fit a GT2871 cartridge with the garrett compressor housing. It would make it easier to bolt up than the HKS unit as it would only require intake mods to make it fit.
  13. HKS GT-RS is a garrett GT2871 (52 trim comp) in a HKS specific T3 turbine housing. There is no reason local turbo shops couldn't machine the factory turbine housing to fit the turbine which would only leave the intake and oil/water lines to get sorted.
  14. Is is never too soon...... Piquet-esque move.
  15. you won't need a AWD dyno just drop the front driveshaft if they have a 2WD dyno.
  16. x2 Nistune for S2 Stagea
  17. spend some time inside and tell them you fiddled a kid and you will find out the hard way what a rock spider is.
  18. Going for a GT3071 GT3076 etc with the Garrett turbine housing will require all those extra mods from oil & water lines, new dump, intake mods, heat shielding and the costs to get up when you go this way. GCG hiflow bolts straight back on. Hypergear has been working hard on making some of their turbos bolt on applications (with minor oil or water line mods?!) HKS GT-RS bolts back on but with braided lines. HKS GT2835ProS has a separate dump to the front pipe which may be an issue if you already have a 3" dump/front but otherwise the kit comes with all you need to bolt back on.
  19. Hi Chef I can send just the rears if you want. Shoot me a pm if interested.
  20. there are 3 variations on the S1 stagea ECU so getting the right loom might be an issue too.
  21. i have a set from an RS4S. the left front was leaking. if you can't get a full set locally then let me know. located in sydney.
  22. Any 450hp core (or close enough will do what you want, each with its pro's and con's. So GT3071, HKS GT-RS, HKS 2835ProS, GCG hiflow or Hypergear's recommendation. You seem to want a low cost direct bolt on option so something from Hypergear or GCG will meet the target and for the lowest cost. 550cc injectors will do the job.
  23. is it hunting a bit at idle? another quick cheap thing to check there could be a simple vacuum leak from one of the many small vacuum hoses. the small one at the front of the plenum is a classic for a small split but it is worth checking them all.
  24. ^^^^^ Is that a pic of the latest plug and play Link/ViPec?
