Lets see... If budget was unlimited (and without going overboard): * ARC titanium front/dump pipes. * Fujitsubo SuperTi exhaust. * Apexi PowerFC * Tomei Poncams and cam gears * HKS GT-SS kit for RB26. More realistically: * Greddy Front Extension pipes. * A decent N1 style exhaust. * Apexi PowerFC What I am likely to get: ....... LW.

I agree, it would fit nicely in the garage next to the Mines R34 'Response' GT-R LW.

Stuff to do on my R32 GT-R when it arrives

Did this car land? How did things turn out? LW. -

Considering this was one of the reasons that SEVS was introduced -- and part of the justification for expanding the SEVS-type system to 15 year and younger imports -- its not suprising they are so tough. RAWS have a lot at stake and aren't going to put their business and/or reputation at risk lightly. LW. -

As I understand it, there is an appeals process if your car is initially rejected, but its at the behest of DOTARS. LW. -
Picked the parts up today. Not sure the drivers side moulding is the right thing, and I can't check as I don't have access to my car at the moment. Hmmm. Annoying. Is anyone able to take some close up shots of the door frame for me? Lucien.

Picked up the car today: definately is the right one. To confirm the part number is KEY00-00185. Lucien.

Anyone had a skyline or parts stolen
lwells replied to Driver's topic in General Automotive Discussion
$100,000 for an R32 GT-R? Riiight. Maybe 15 years ago Might be time to start checking out the government auctions. Could be some Skyline parts up for sale soon LW. -

Again, there are plenty of "personal experiences" available if you had bothered to search. Compliance costs depends on the vehicle and its age. If its under the SEVS scheme the car will have to be returned to stock (as has been mentioned in hundreds of threads). LW. -
Having spoken to Steve @ Maltech (who said paying/ordering today is fine), I put my order through just now. Unfortunately National's online banking sucks and the description field is highly restrictive in both length and what you can enter. Anyway, my description was "SAU lwellsR32gtrBC" which is the maximum characters it would allow me (it also wouldn't allow me to use an ampersand). Al, for your records, I am after a brake and clutch set for a R32 GT-R in black. Hope it doesn't cause any problems. Stupid banks Lucien.

Looks like I have found my filter replacement So which one (ie. model/part number) do I order? Is there a better place to purchase them from than Fabre? Edit: would help if I mentioned it was for an R32 GT-R. LW

Fastest where though? Down the strip or round a track? LW.

First off, there are a million threads on this so (not to be rude, but...) you should have searched. I used Prestige for my (recently arrived) R32 GT-R. I found Geoff extremely helpful throughout, with the only slight issue to do with space onboard ships: I was not informed of a shipping date until three days after the car had actually shipped. In fairness, however, that was out of Geoff's control (as can be seen by the current mess at some Japanese ports). In terms of hidden costs, I would say that there was maybe $200-500 not accounted for. Again, however, to be fair it was my choice to spend that money: I chose to tow rather than drive my car, etc, etc. Overall I think he does a very good job of explaining the costs, but still allow youself some (financial) slack. Overall I would give his service and 8 or 9 out of 10. LW. -
whats happens when shipp arrives?
lwells replied to PHATR32's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
I am not talking about the oil and coolant levels, I am talking about the quality of the oil in the car. For starters it seems its a common thing in Japan to not bother servicing it properly if your about to sell it, so who knows how long its been since the last oil change (in terms of kilometres and time). Then there is the fact that its probably been sitting still for god knows how long waiting to be shipped: during that time the oil additives are likely to have broken down at least partially. Moreover, you have no idea what was put in last time and since its a reasonably expensive proposition if something goes bang, a tow job is not a bad idea IMHO. LW. -
The issue with wheel weight is that it is unsprung weight so it has a proportionally larger effect on acceleration (disregarding issues such as better handling) than typical weight. And the difference can be substantial. A high quality Japanese forged rim can be as light as ~7kg (in a decent size). LW.

I guess its a little off topic, but is it just me or does the M35 looks like a Volvo V70 from behind, and an Altezza from the front? LW. -

whats happens when shipp arrives?
lwells replied to PHATR32's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
If its anything like in Sydney, the car will have next to no petrol so take a jerry can of BP Ultimate with you so you at least have enough to get to the nearest petrol station. Personally I don't think its a very good idea to drive the car, particularly if its been sitting in storage and/or waiting for a while to be shipped. Oils and lubricants (or rather, the special active ingredients in them) tend to break down over a couple of months. Plus you never know what the condition of the car will actually be like till you pick it up LW. -

lwells replied to PHATR32's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
If they are like 99 percent of businesses, they won't release the goods (ie. your car) until the cheque is banked and cleared. Assuming it gets banked on the day you pay it can still take 2-3 days to clear. IMHO you are better off doing a direct deposit over the counter. LW. -
I am guessing some sort of pressure release valve to make it easier to remove the radiator cap. LW.

Exactly: pays for itself. Only problem is that its not exactly obvious how to join the club: I have already had two people ask me in a day. Could PranK modify the front webpage with some links to information about joining the various state clubs? I got a call from Troy saying my driver's side window seal and GT-R key are already in. How's that for service: less than 24 hours! LW.

lwells replied to PHATR32's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
You can't remove anything from the car if you view it during the customs inspection: your not allowed to touch it. The only reason to attend would be for interest sake or to take photos as evidence of parts on the car so you can make a claim latter should things go missing. Although its not stictly legal, I would remove anything and everything when the car is released to you to be towed (*cough* driven *cough*) to Hobbs for steam cleaning. Their entire operation struck me as completely shoddy and I would be less than shocked if things went walkabout while your car is there waiting for its incredably thorough cleaning. I was told numerous times that they were "run off their feet" and couldn't possibly clean my car because they had just had a load vehicles arrive. Funnily enough when I dropped off my car the AQIS inspection people had just arrived and there was all of about ten cars for them to check. Its just a ploy to get you to ask them how things can by sped up, to which the answer is slip an extra $50 their direction. Not only that but their premises is a joke. Its utterly insecure: anyone could walk off the street and get to the cars if they knew where to look. Oh, and their cleaning is a joke too. LW.
