  1. Yep, Had nothing to do with the wife, although she was sick of hearing Stagea this, 4 door gtr that...I think she was happy I had finnaly made my mind up:headspin: Cant wait.....I just want one ....NOW !!!!
  2. Well done Dan, it is the best feeling when you know she is the one. I got married 18 months ago and life is only getting better:inlove: Congradulations.... Mal
  3. I have been asked to assist in rugby training on thursday, I can still come if its on, but I need to know by 11am tomorrow. Fine by me if its postponed, or whatever. Mal
  4. this one IS the Autech 260RS version........VERY rare It has a R34 GTR driveline except it has a R33 (5sp) gearbox, brembo's
  5. the standard xr6 does not have any climate control, it was only added as an option from april 04, its the same as the LTD one, dual zone etc. It is a $4.5k option that includes leather sports seats and some other stuff....i have ordered mine with this option. Mal
  6. they have only just made that statement true.....the climate controll is available from the 1/4/04. I would not have got it without.
  7. give Derek a call from http://www.motorman.com.au/ The car should have compliance in a couple of weeks. Pearl white, 40k/km 4.5/5 auction grade, its a beast. I would have got one, but I had to get a car that I could lease.
  8. Ricknismo, I have spent 12 months trying to find a 4 door GTR. There is only one real undamaged one (silver) that I know of and it was in Unique Auto's May '03 I think. It was sold for around $75k. There is the White rebuilt one and there is a black one I looked at last year . It is a GTs4 with vspec GTR running gear that was build by Skyline imports, it was sold for $40k october '03, the dealer was trying to tell me it was a real one (diddnt fool me, but I was very tempted) the car was sold to someone in dubbo. I have spoken to several importers and what RS73 said is correct as the car would need different compliance to a 4 door GTS or a 2D GTR as the evidence is not for a 4 door with a RB26. I was told that the car would be about $65k + compliance, so drive away for $75k, but you would have an awsome car. I could not wait and go through the hassels, so I bought a XR6T instead.....I still want a 4 door gtr, but that will have to wait. I can tell you where a Stagea RS260 is going for under $60k if you are interested....this is a 4 door wagon with the heart of a GTR vspec Mal
  9. I think a Stagea would drift well, but not as well as the new xr6t:headspin: I wonder if running it in sideways on the track will void my warranty
  10. mmmmmm....depending on the date i might run in the new car.....sideways Does anyone know where to get cheap 17" rims for a XR6T ? I might get 4 for track days The dealer would not sell me 2 extra spares for the price of the spare, but wanted $700 each inc tyres..... I am hoping mid April for delivery, if not I will be there with video in hand. Will it be the gocart track ? Mal
  11. Ill be there, can someone please bring both the drift vids...I need to get a copy and will return, prefer someone on the nothshore Ta Mal
  12. My 1988 VR4 had 58,000 on the clock and they are original km's as the car is immaculant inside and only dirty under the bonnet. I used this Simple Green stuff and now it looks brand new. The body looks like it lived its whole 16 years outside and been washed in a auto car wash 1 million times, but you can tell if the odo has been fiddled with, you cannot hide wear and tear. It has always worried me about imports and odo fiddling, it looks like it does happen often from some of the posts on this thread. Mal
  13. Pete, no problem with you posting it up. I love some of the ones on your site:wassup: Somehow I managed to delete the original DVD from my PC and I gave away the last copy. I will need to catchup with someone so I can copy my original and get a copy of Pete's. I can also make a few more if anyone needs more. Mal
  14. Yeah.....cant i dream of what would have been ?
  15. the funny thing about the XR8 bonnet is it was the main thing that turned me off the v8. I hate having a lump in my field of vision ala WRX as it just shits me. I do like the look of the "power bulge", but not when driving it. I did ask if I could delete the bodykit but it is not an option, I like a subtle look, but the turbo badge will be removed ASAP as it is only stickon. IT WILL BE DRIFTED....I have the power and RWD now.....
  16. The modding will need to be ok under warranty. I am very hard on my cars as I drive them often in club track days. I have herad the APS stage 1 is 330fwkw and the stage 2 is 390kw, I like that potential :-) If the import laws were not so fu*ked up at the moment I may have waited, but I see things getting worse in the next 2 years. The best thing about the xr6T is my fleet insurance is cheap (<$1100) and the bank will finance it with no probs. Hopefully there will be a drift day in may and I will be there.......I have ordered 2 x 17" wheels extra for this type of thing :-) The dealer could not understand why my car needed 3 spare tyres. HSVKLR: Phantom, nice choice in colour.....I went with lightning strike (light silver) Mal
  17. Thanks for the positive comments guys. I must say that the XR6T was my second choice, but I think I will still be very happy with it. The only modding I am planning on doing is adjustable anti roll bars so I can get the drifto easier, I may also run a bleed valve for track days. I have been told that if I touch anything except for cosmetics I will void the warranty. The car has enough power for the daily driver I will mainly be using it for. I want to get into Aussie Legends for my racing fix :-) When is the Next pizza night ? Mal
  18. Guys, I know some of you were hoping to see me get a Stagea 260RS, but at the end of the day it was going to be too hard. I ordered today a new XR6 Turbo.:flamed: I expect delivery mid to end April. Due to insurance problems (no one had ever heard of one) and my finance company not interested, I have decided that I would get my second choice. I hope you all understand, but I would still like to join the club as I think this falcoon wil drift nicely:wassup: I hope you all understand Mal
  19. The reason the 15yo law has been abused over the past 12 months is due to one reason. R.A.W.S Most of the shonky importers have changed from selling Green plated shonky cars to being told to get RAWS or no more importing....they then see the opportunity to abuse a very low volume for vintage/restoration as a way to bring in CRAP. I do not say that we need to scrap the rule, but to limit it to only RAWS importers. Then you will still see your favorite R31 or whatever, and the good guys in the industry get to make some money.
  20. Why import one ? There are plenty already in the country......
  21. It is funny that the ONLY reason I have seen to support the current 15yo law is to get cheap cars. What you do all not see is that they are cheap because they are C R A P They have hardly seen a workshop for servicing and most have had their milage fiddled as there are no restrictions as to what is required to import these cars. Having RAWS importers bringing in 15+yo cars would at least give some assurance of the reputation of the importer. Having 12,000+ Jap crappy cars on australian roads this year scares the crap out of me especially since they are not cheap to fix or insure..... There is only a very limited supply of quality 15yo cars in japan, and I would say most have already been exported to NZ or OZ years ago, we are now scraping the bottom of the barrel as people are blindly buying these cars sight unseen from a auction list....and guess what, once you own it you cannot send it back. I own a 15yo VR4 Galant and it is the biggest piece of crap.....it only had 54,000km on the clock, but it is not a well looked after car, and I got the best of the bunch....It looked ok, but within a month it was falling apart.....At least I have a 3 year warranty :-) I feel very sorry for people who think they are buying a bargain 15yo GTR or whatever only to find their $20k GTR will cost them $10k more to make it roadworthy.....would have been better to buy a local one, at least you have a chance to speak to the owner and have a good look before you pay out your hard earned.... The 15yo rule is not about cheap quality cars, its about the importation of garbage that will be littering our roads for years to come. The quicker this loophole is closed the better.
  22. Some of the lame comments here seem to revolve around the depreciation of cars. I am not saying that IF the 15yo law was scrapped, that all current imports would hold or gain their values, all I am saying is that if you flood a market with cheap imports, the price will drop FASTER and HARDER than they would with a constant supply, like we will see with the RAWS imports. I do not think that anyone would buy a skyline/import and expect it to increase in value, but this new system has caused the market to fall, and its only going to get worse. By the end of this year there will be over 6000+ more 15yo imports, mainly toyota;s and nissans of exotic natures, not stock corollas and pulsars. They will be cheap and this WILL cause a significant drop in the overall values of MOST second hand cars. If you have $10k in your pocket, you will suddenly have a whole schmorgas board of cars to choose from. While this is not bad to have choices, the problem will be oversupply. There is a diference between a free market and a extorted market. The 15yo law has shown that you cannot let kids loose in the candy store or they will eat what they can and take the rest. We have always heard how Japs turn their cars over every 2 years to avoid the high price of Shekken (rego inspection) yet where are all these old cars comming from ? My bet is most have been sitting in wreakers for years waiting for some country dumb enough to buy them.......and guess what we are and we will suffer in many ways. Control is good if used right. They need to shut this loophole fast before we have 20,000 HiPo jap sh1tboxes on our roads. Mal
  23. I have read all the posts and think there are very few legitimate arguments for the 15yo law as it stands. The government brought in the new RAWS scheme to try to rid the grey import industry of shonky people bringing in crappy cars. There were 100's of cars that had their milage fiddled, flood damaged or accident damaged and this undermined a healthy industry. They were selling disguised cars of questionable quality cheaper than the good quality cars that the legitimate importers had. This caused a snowballing effect and there were huge differences in price (R34 GTR from $85k-$120k). The government in their narrow minded views thought they would need to put a stop to it....and as usual they stuffed up a good industry. What we see now is reputable importers trying to get RAWS approval by jumping through unrealistic hoops to get one model approval and having to wait 6 months to get it.......while all the shonky importers are just bringing in CRAP 15yo imports and undermining the industry. I am suprised we have had no comment from legit importers on this thread telling us how hard (almost impossible) it is to make a living while waiting for approvals. This arguiment is not about little johnny wanting a $10k GTR because he cannot afford it. It is about how a government can stuff up something so fast and then try to backtrack even faster. We must seem like total morons to the Japs as they have seen NZ stop the importation of the old cars because of safety/quality reasons.....only to see us silly Aussies allow them....Jap cars are cheap because they are generally not looked after and are turned over quickly. I am also suprised there are so many 15yo cars left in Japan, they must be going around to wreaking yards and putting them back together again. The RAWS guys should be the only ones who should be allowed to bring in any imports (except personal) as they have paid the money and gone through all the BS, at least we know they have some accreditaion, unlike these dodgy fly by night importers selling crap and hurting everyone.
