  1. I found out today the costs of being a Nissan GTR approved dealer. Not only is there a heap of training for the mechanics and sales persons, but they need a heap of tools, diagnostic gear and a $45,000 hoist. We are quick to blame the dealers about the cost of servicing these cars (without actually knowing) yet they have to recoup a huge outlay just to be able to qualify. I also was told that the brake costs are true as is the servicing after a track day being correct.
  2. I was at my dealers today chatting to the parts manager who had just had delivered all the service items for the GTR. He said I was lucky to have cancelled my GTR and gotten a GT-E instead, because the service costs were huge. He said a front brake change would be $6000 as the rotors had to be changed with the pads, due to being matched. Apparently they will need a fair amount of money put aside for their routine servicing.
  3. If it is a manual, he will need to be a gun driver to get decent times. Because the Typhoons are heavy, they are VERY hard to get off the line. I think the fastest manual is a 11.3 with around 400rwkw. This is all to do with getting it off the line, where an auto with the same power will be in the low 10's. A GTR even in RWD will get off the line much better due to the low weight and lack of torque working against the tyres. I would only be worried if he rocks up with slicks, no matter how much power he has. Good luck, make sure you put some money on it. P.S THe JB gear is counted as a joke around the Ford Turbo sites.
  4. Why in your lernered opinion is the Falcon a "Shit box" ? Just because it is not a Nissan, does not make it a bad car. Having owned 3 in the last 6 years has suprised me on their build quality and performance. Nextime you are out at WSID try your luck next to one. BFYB the T6 is the cheapest cars to make go really fast. Next time keep your uneducated and ill informed comments to yourself.
  5. I can tell you there is no such thing as a JB special Typhoon. The guy is full of shit. JB did make brake, suspension and exhaust (catback) that did SFA to the cars power. To get 320rwkw they would need a Ford flash tune (Edit), injectors, fuel pump and full exhaust.
  6. Being the former owner of a BF F6 Typhoon, I can say that stock, they will do a 13sec 1/4, mine had 241rwkw. With 320rwkw, you will see low 12's. There are many that run in the 11's and a few in the 10's and a couple in the 9's. The Autos are much faster than the manuals.
  7. I have had a look at the kit and it will cost closer to 80k to have a road registered car. Putting GT-P running gear in would be great, or even better Typhoon gear would be much quicker. From the discussions I had, most of the running and rolling gear is used from the Ford. This means ABS and stability control (BF>). The biggest problem is time, it will take a very long time to build and you should also have a fair amount of mechanical experience. They are selling a fully done one for $125k.
  8. He has also been selling off all the cars, HERE is the link to the drag cars/bikes that he is offloading.
  9. Police raided 14 homes today and took away Pill press's, loads and loads of cash, drag cars and other hi performance machines, boats and properties.in one of Australias biggest drug busts. It was mentioned on the Brisbane 6pm news that Brett Stevens was arrested. 10. There has been both a R32 and R33 GTR's in 4 Door. I am hoping to get a R33 model myself from japan. 30 R32's and 447 R33's were made. I would buy a R35 model in a hearbeat if it was the same price as a 2 door.
  11. I got a call from the SDRO about a parking fine that was 8 years old that I had to pay $36 for the fine and $50 for the SDRO fee. They were very demanding and told me I would get a bad mark on my CRA and also have my license/rego cancelled. I asked them how they are so incompetent that they cannot tell me for 8 years that I owe this money and that I have always had a drivers license and registered car with correct details. I sent them an extreamly abusive letter telling them what a bunch of monkeys they were and signed the cheque GET FU.KED. Somehow they managed to bank the cheque, but like you I had no way to prove if I had ever paid the fine. Reading your story just makes me angry that a pack of parasitic buerocrats can treat people like this. I would write a few letters and hopefully get some justice. They have to provide you with due course, do not let them bully you, I would take it infront of a magistrate and make them look like fools. Forget a lawyer and defend yourself, or ask someone who is a good talker to help you out Also demand costs for your time and expenses. Good luck.
  12. I think the term "warranty" is missunderstood here. You get more than driveline repairs with a ADM warranty. It will cover all the car's components. This includes recalls and ECU updates. Buying a 3rd party warranty covers a lot less than a Nissan Oz one. Firstly, they are more an insurance cover rather than a true warranty. There will be maximum dollar limitations and many conditions. This is the case for any aftermarket 3rd party warranty. I can imagin that if something majore breaks like a motor, it will be subject to the claim and also getting it repaired will be a PIA as Haltech found out. IF I choose to get a R35, then it will be a ADM as Nissan are obliged to provide a comprehensive warranty under the very strong consumer legislation that protects us. If you have bought a JDM, you will get nothing except the cold shoulder from Nissan Oz, just like they have done with other grey imports. I will bet that some dealer may wavier on not touching JDM's as they will not have many GTR's to service everyday and they could charge a premium on the parts/labour. P.S I am wondering if owning a JDM model is even more of a compromise than most people might think. Firstly several buttons are in Jap and does the radio/TV work on Oz stations ? I think the SatNav may also be useless.
  13. I managed to get a hold of the new GTR Brochure, or should I say Pamphlet. Pretty poor for a $170,000 car, it is all of 6 pages and disapointing.
  14. I need a daily car and the GTR will not fit the bill. I am not after anything other than giving someone a bump up the list or a late order to the top. My dealer tells me there is not much left for next years allocations based on the deposits put down. If you want to get this spot PM me and I will give you the details on who to speak to.
  15. When I was a mechanic, we had similar problems with the Lotus Turbos when they first came to Oz. It is because the bodies are so rigid and our roads are so crap. There is not enough flex int he body, so the next softest thing is glass.
  16. I have a very early spot on the waiting list that I am not planning on taking up. If someone wants an April09 delivery date then please PM me.
  17. The grey models will always be worth less as they will not have the local dealer support or local features. Even 15 years later a Oz spec R32 is still worth much more than the grey ones. I think most of the gray ones will be track cars most of their lives anyway as there are plenty of Targas for them to conquer. I have heard that dealers will not be allowed to sell anything or service grey import GTRs. Nissan Oz really hate themi t is a pity, they could make more money by embracing their grey brothers, as they will make more money and sell more cars.
  18. Looks like I was right about Col Crawfords being one of the dealers. If I had kept my order, I would have been 1st GTR sold at CCM
  19. I heard a confirmed rumour that a certain large Nissan dealership in Brookvale will be one of the 2 sydney dealers. Pity I cancelled the GTR order I had with them... Apparently Nissan will be making a formal announcement in October.
  20. I had a chat with a client who is a large and very well known Nissan dealer. They have been offered a GTR dealership in Sydney. Apparently the "special" training will be held in Melbourne, much to the disapointment of the mechanics, who heard it would be in Japan. The GTR dealers will NOT be allowed to sell parts to non Aussie spec cars, nor provide service to these cars. He seemed to know about Nissan OZ's hatred of the Grey market. Apparently the dealers will be named in September and there will be 12. I have handed my order for a GTR to a mate who wanted one badly as I have lost interest due to my priorities changing.
  21. I vote for Craig Lowdnes. He is a top guy Great driver Witty and media savy would make the Stig look like an amature
  22. I would rather have the stock GTR Brembos on a road car, as you will never need the PCCB on the street, except for wank value.
  23. If ANYONE hit my car I would always put it through insurance, for exactly the reasons we are reading here. Dealing with someone who thinks they know how much it should cost, is not my problem. 5km/h inpact can cause panel damage and plastic bars hide damage. We can assume that he might be ripped off, but the end of the day he will have to pay up or be sued by the insurance company, that will costa heap more. Learn to either not hit cars, or find cheaper insurance excess.
  24. The best a current F6 has run was a 12.9 stock, the new ones will most likely be the same or slower die to a smaller turbo. The would not have a hope in hell against a R35, neither will a 427 commonhore.
  25. Does anyone have any good websites for places selling R&R cars ? I have been watching J-Spec and My105, but I was hoping for some more sites that may specilise in race cars.
