  1. ive got impul sides and rear I think they would go well together in my mind just visualising it. im not much of a fan of the impul front bumper. i'll probably be going with a top secret or something style bar for my front if i ever change it as well impul goes well with alot, its a nice simple style so it suits alot of diffferent bumpers imo, but id go for something more "boxy" and square like a top secret bumper, rather than something like the altia/aero kit
  2. I like shell helix as a cheaper oil, or even some of the valvoline stuff is quite cheap and goes at a good price. what do you guys think of penrite and castrol?
  3. I use SEAL regular ... 3 coats and it lasted my sisters hyundai accent about 7 or 8 months - probably washing it once every 2 months and left outside in the open it sheeted water very well, better than any other wax or sealant ive tried before and it was incredibly easy to apply i also did it on my dads volvo and the protection is still there (this one is maintained a little better than the hyundai - but still probably only a wash every month or so) and its lasted a good 10 months at this stage i think? I did it in October last year .. that would make it 9 actually and it still has that slick feel
  4. im not too sure mate andrew at hyperdrive is ordering them in for me
  5. i used 91 octane for awhile back in the day i now use 98 octane from caltex though
  6. im getting stockies for about 220? aftermarkets go for like 400 - 600?
  7. is it worth it to buy aftermarket ones vs the stockers? ill definitely pick up some iridium or platinum sparkies and get them fitted at the same time as the coilpacks ... id feel bad canceling now since he's already ordered the coilpacks for me and stuff. the cars almost due for its 100k service anyway so i really may as well!
  8. i clayed the windows on this detail but i was really worried about marring them so i lubed the crap out of the windows haha bit hestitant to machine polish though, doing my first machine polish on the 34 at the moment, 2 passes of CAP medium and 1 or 2 of CAP extra fine, still only done 1 of CAP medium though I'll definitely give my windows a seal as I do the car although i have heard that they are making a glass sealant my inside glass is never dirty for some reason, i just use water on the glass MF and the glass cloth. im still using my meguiars NXT gen glass cleaner on the outside (not too sure if its tint safe so dont use it on inside) and i get what you mean about having clean cloths ... we use rags at work to clean windows takes me almost 20 minutes per car just to do glass ... with a good MF and stuff at home it takes me all of 2-5 minutes i think?
  9. i now use motul 4100 turbolight 10w 40 ... feels the same to me really
  10. well for mine genuine is MUCH cheaper, 220 bucks for the parts, 120 bucks for installation. for an aftermarket set you're looking around the 500 - 600 bucks for the coils ... i dont see the point paying 400 bucks more for the aftermarkets especially since yours is a family car
  11. any idea where to get skyline service manuals from? Haynes never made any for skylines besides the R31
  12. im only paying 700 a year for my n/a skyline with hbf .. but we have house and 2 other cars with them and its n/a but the cheaper insurance was kind of why we got an n/a skyline since at the time i didnt think i'd need any performance ...
  13. we use mobil1 at the moment cos my dads been using it since his good old days probably going to try something else though maybe a 10w 40 or 10w 30 fully synthetic. i dont really change my oil often enough though, should probably go for something a bit cheaper but still fully synthetic and change it more often .. im paying about 80 bucks for a bottle of oil atm with mobil 1 and ive seen some castrols go for a fair bit less ... or even the motuls were going for a decent price .. that thread on oils confused the hell out of me lol
  14. i've heard that the sparkies and coilpacks are a bit difficult to get to on the 34s, the guy pointed it out to me and it appeared like it was under a fair bit of engine or something? Two different mechanics have both told me its a bit of a difficult job, thats why they Im being charged about $130 bucks for the labour to get to the coilpacks ... might even just change the sparkies now cos its almost due for its 100k service so we dont have to pay for the labour to get there twice? I really dont know much about mechanics - im trying to learn some stufff - thats why i got the sexcel a few minor problems with the sexcel, gonna fix it up then move onto something else and hopefully should have a good idea and be a bit more confident to do stuff myself hope to one day buy a blown engine and try and fix it up or something
  15. nooo!!! Hill cruises are my favourite but im overseas for this one
  16. that looks great man my skylines the same colour as yours and I was wondering how this front lip would turn out! I was planning to do it but my whole bumper is sagging pretty nasty .. took it to a panelbeaters who said the only way to fix it was to replace the whole bumper. might try to find something to match the impul sides/rear
  17. Mines run about 93,000 kms and one has now failed, on my car at least, the coilpacks are rather hard to access (thats what my mechanic told me) and if one fails, and you fix it, and another fails, then the labour costs will be alot just to replace one again so its a much safer idea just to replace em all
  18. I Use mobil1 5w 50 .... planning to change on something else after the 100k service though I only change every 6 months as well ... thats generally only about 5-6 thousand kms as well, i dont drive the skyline all that much .. its still very clean at the end of every oil change so i havent seen the need to change it more often i think the motul stuff has been quite highly recommended as well
  19. Mitch I'd get my car detailed by you just so I could meet the models on your site .. LOL but good info why are all the good detailers in melbourne! I don't think perth has anybody that does really professional detailing .. I do all my work from home even though I work at a detailer and we can do our cars there for free whenever we want ... although i do do my $700 sexcel there
  20. Carmate stuff doesnt fit the best i got sideskirts off them and now my doors dont close too easily and the skirts in the door jambs are getting a bit scuffed up and scratched up and the paints going missing completely in some areas ... but u cant tell unless u analyse the jambs
  21. I dont mind the interior on supras ... their tiny though, i was going to go for one of them but the skyline had lots more room .. not that thats an issue with my midget size but its alot easier to get in and out of especially in a tiny and tight garage like mine
  22. I remember I read that thread when I was looking for what oil to get... what a marathon I use Mobil1 fully synthetic ... forgot the numbers but its in a silver coloured container 10w 30 im quite sure it is though
  23. damn, i havent checked ebay! i'll have a look there and cash converters haha more options! I may just stick to the SCA/Repco sales - their pretty cheap and I get to see them in store and have a feel of them first and stuff I guess .. although i could feel em in a store n thn buy it online 69 bucks from 120 or 199 from 320 are both real good deals though
  24. thats true, but most tools of any decent quality come with lifetime warranty anyway (stanley does come with a lifetime warranty as well) i would have gone for the stanley set, cos thats a mad good deal at 69 bucks, but no spanners, which costs a good 120 bucks or so .. actually that has more sockets than the repco set im getting and it would work out cheaper .. the repco one has spark plug sockets as well though but the stanley has a 3/8 drive instead of a 1/2 DAMN back into confusion haha
  25. if they have a good reputation im quite sure that theres a good reason why their not able to get back in touch with you or something if theyve got the best prices i wouldnt let just one bad experience with them throw me off, unless i never received the goods or anything or it came alot later ..
