Rs Four S Vs. Caldina Gt-t
bayslideblue replied to Stooge007's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
It seems as though quite a few of us went through the same choices. Caldina- quick, but small and ugly. Legnum- quickest, but fuel consumption is bad up to 17-18l per 100km some reported as low as 200km per tank! Where as stagea- more practical wagon, looks good and lots of parts available easy mods for big power. Which is why we are all on here. THe only thing that hasn't been suggested is the Forrester STI, 200kw + 1500kg. Unfortunately you can't get an original STI complied in oz (stupid australian laws), but you can do all the modifications to get one to the same specs. But too much trouble for what it's worth. Stag is the go -

3 suitaces, 3 tents, 1 100l esky 2 large camping matresses 1 bent wood chair 1 gramaphone 1 x large tarp 10 poles 4 people and a few more bits...... In one go, on the way to woodford folk festival. That was about as much as you could possibly fit in, sorry no photo's -
Spotted a silver series 1 c34 at Brisbane airport drop off today. Was a girl driving I think. I beeped, but I think she thought I was telling her to get out of the way

Yeah that's what I figured, I've towed cars and campers in my little 84 suby ej20t and haven't had a problem. 2000 model stagea has gotta be better equipped for something like that. What weight was yours rated to? P.S. The wagon is for sale http://cgi.ebay.com.au/modified-84-subaru-...=item3a55fbc9c9 Shamless plug..........

wynnum towbars quoted $600 fitted for 900kg load. He also said that there is no heavy duty metal to bolt on too so that towing much more than that wouldn't be recommended. Qld tow bars and welding quoted $460 for a premade one from NZ, but they won't fit it as it is not complienced.

Sick, you nearly had it spinning round on the spot. I ended up in Goteborg because my mom is english and she stayed there when she was younger. So she had some friends there. -

yeah i thought about doin that, it would look good but i got a wagon 4 practicality. Otherwise i wouldv got a gtst or somethin. Im gona use the rails if theyre there. I decided just to wait for new ones from japan, they wernt in to the idea of put it together twice. Cheers fellas, post can b deleted now

Ok cool no worries. I'm pretty sure he said it was Nizzpro, but I'lll check tomorrow. Not a bad idea, I'll see if they're up for putting it together now, and then putting the new one's in when they arrive. Dunno if I'd be up for that myself. Or maybe I should just be patient.......hmmm Thanks anyway mate

Like I said I know I will get in trouble for not posting in the classified section, but I'm in a bit of a hurry and the fs section doesn't usually get as much attention. I am after some a1 condition roof rails if anyone in the brisbane/gold coast area has them. As some of you might know a tree fell on my stag and it's being repaired at the moment. The repairer got some rails from a wreckers but they are also scratched beyond repair. To save him ordering from japan, and therefore me having to wait till next year for it to be fixed. Does anyone have a set of a+ condition roof rails? Thanks, Dave-

The Fuel Ecconomy Thread

Tune and o2 sensor I went from round ~350km per tank with bolt on mods and 10psi and no tune, to ~650km per tank after nistune chip and tune and new o2 sensor!! Obviously if I stomp on it round town I get less, but it did Melbourne to Albury on just under half a tank, including driving out of inner city Melbourne. That's over 300km! I couldn't believe the difference. -
S2 rs auto Pod filter HDI front mount profec b ebc JJR split dump/front 3" stainless with high flow metal cat and cannon Nistune chip and tune - EFI performance I think that's it..... Ideally I'm after 220-230rwkw So it's looking like I will need a turbo and some injectors to get there.
-
Unfortunately it's looking like I won't be able to make this one As some of you may know my stag had an unfortunate meeting with a tree It's just been taken to be assessed, so there is a slim chance that it may be ready in time. Fingers crossed

Yeah I was wondering about panels, but I thought it would depend on who was doing it. That's really the only thing I'm worried about, is how well the repairer is going to do the job. Especially with the roof. I think I will be in as much contact with them as possible, to make sure I know exactly whats happeneing with it. Cheers, Dave- -

Yeah it didnt look rotten or split at all, no dead leaves or anything either. But probly a good idea to take a photo just incase they can use it as evidence I guess. I think as Stagea_Neo said, it's the time of year and the weather. Apparently gum trees are notorious for dropping branches at the start of summer if they havn't had enough water. So I'm told now anyway Won't be parking under a tree any time soon. Thanks for the comments guys. Cheers, Dave- -
Can You Believe My Luck?
bayslideblue replied to bayslideblue's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Ha! Well they said no excess if they can prove neglegence by the property owner for not chopping the branch down earlier. But highly unlikely as the branch was seemingly healthy. Cool, cheers mate. -
Yep that's right, a massive branch dropped off a gumtree on to my car whilst it was parked at work. Only half an hour after I was asked to move it so the dump truck could get to a skip!! No wind, no rain, the branch was healthy and not rotten. IT JUST DROPPED OFF!!! The bonnet is f#*ked, the roof has two big dents in it, the front bar and grill are a little loose and the whole car is scratched but as far as I can tell that's the extent of it . All the glass is in tact. But I'm worried there is more damage, it looks straight but how can I tell if the chassis has been slightly bent or something?. It's basically going to have to be a full respray once th panels are straight. Fortunately it's all covered by insurance and they're coming to pick it up tommorow. Hopeflly it can all be fixed and there won't be any unseen problems left. Insurance say that I can choose a repairer to get a quote from and they will compare with there own repairer. can anyone reccomend someone in Brizzy? ............dammit............
