  1. thanks man! Yeah the 225whp isnt much, but remember thats at 4 wheels! so at the motor its making alot more. The x-trail weighs 1390kgs fully laden, so id be expecting a low 14 maybe even a 13... And yeah its manual...
  2. I've got a Turbosmart Boost Tee (black one) for sale. Only took it of because the actuator pressure was good enough to satisfy my power goals. I'm located in Perth and will post... $60 posted or pick up for $50. Call 0424438501 or PM here... Cam.
  3. Car is back form Hyperdrive and he made 225whp on 8-12psi. Ive STILL got the same boost curve, me and Andrew have no idea why the boost is going the way it is. Maybe the dump is too restrictive at the wastegate flap, dunno. Also, it was starting to lean out on the top end, so i cant really be bouncing off the limiter cos I have a fuel pressure problem! It's fine as it is, but if i was to make any more power from it (which im not) i would need to install an aftermarket fuel rail and an FPR. I think if i got any more power out of this setup, id need to do internal upgrades anyway... Keep in mind the awd drivetrain sucks a lot of power, and that stock these cars make about 90hp at the wheels. Here's some dyno charts for ya'll. Note the increase over the old VG30 turbo! The car is savage now! 225hp might not sound like much to all you skylines owners, but it translates to instant wheelspin in 2nd gear and torque steer from hell! Even in AWD mode! NOW its fun. I'll post up an in car video soon for you guys! Cam.
  4. Yeah i know its pretty ricey but... I guess I've got nothing to say to that. This is more of an assignment for my electrical engineering unit. Plus I enjoy the old flutter.
  5. Ohk sweet, looks like and ebc solenoid is the way to go! I've never used an ebc before, how is the solenoid wired up?does it just have a ground, positive and a signal line? An ebc flows enough air for a wastegate actuator so in theory it should flow enough air to act as a signal for the BOV. Just need to nut out the wiring, I think I saw the turbosnart website has an installation guide for their range of ebcs. That should help me out!
  6. Thanks for your positive input guys! I think I'm gonna go with sickr33s idea and have a "y" piece in the vacuum line to switch between post throttle vac/boost signal, then pre throttle boost. This way I can be assured that the piston stays shut under boost. Now I've gotta find such a device. I'll start looking at jaycar and see where that gets me...
  7. Yeah they do, but they are $450 bucks lol. Plus, when adjusted, they don't cause flutter, they only change the sound of the escaping air from the BOV. Cool, but a different concept to what im trying to achieve... [edit] wow i just saw that they are $720! lol my bad
  8. Yeah I see where your coming from, but I know for sure my bov stays shut under boost. The spring is strong enough...
  9. Ohk really? What's the wastegate got to do with the BOV functioning? Regardless of the switch position (and assuming the BOV stays shut under boost) the car will still make and hold the same amount of boost pressure... It'll just sound differnt lifting off the throttle.
  10. Yeah this may happen, I've noticed atm (with the boost that im running -10psi) that the BOV spring is still tight enough to stay closed under full boost and even under lift off too. Good call though I might need to check this out more!
  11. Hey guys just got an idea I want to share with ya'll... I've got a GFB Hybrid BOV on my X-Trail and it has a plumb-back configuration. The idea is to somehow make a switch/circuit to activate the BOV or not. So when the switch is at 'off' the BOV acts like there's no Vacuum line attached to it, and the turbo flutters its head off, then when its 'on', the BOV acts normal. The reason behind it is I love a good flutter *cue the hatred*, I don't care how wanky it is, but I want at the flick of a switch, to have either a nice plumb-back sneeze, or a nice flutter on lift off, nothing over the top! What I need is some sort of valve that would 'tee' into the vacuum line for the BOV, and be able to switch between 'open' and 'closed' (i.e. vacuum line blocked and unblocked) with varying voltages (5V or 0V) Does jaycar or similar sell such a thing? It'd be a pretty simple circuit, just take a voltage source from the battery/alternator (something under the dash) then run a resistor, the switch and the valve in series, grounded by the chassis/similar... I'm assuming I'd need some sort of resistor to bring the circuit voltage down from 12-14V, to 5V. I'm pretty comfortable with KVL, KCL and Ohm's Laws, so I'd say I'd need about a 10ohm resistor in series with the device/switch, so that the device receives 0-5V instead of 0-14 volts. This may change depending on the signal that the valve is rated at (might not need a resistor at all). Please don't be all hatin', just looking for some way to apply some of the uni stuff I'm studying atm, cos I could use this as a project for this electrical engineering unit im doing. Any ideas? comments? Thanks!
  12. I highly doubt that's a 400whp turbo supra lol and that's def not a near stock k20... Impossible. Must be a Pretty shit supra driver too, looks like he's trying to accellerate from 6th gear haha and I don't see how people think these engines sound good, I thought it sounded like arse!!!
  13. yeah I guess i'm pretty biased. My dislike for hondas is pretty unfair too, just plain don't like them. No technical reasoning behind it at all... Didn't mean to offend anyone!!! Haha
  14. Yeah thanks man though that's pretty obvious looking at the pics... Plus i never said it was bolt on for those motors. The guy who bought it was using it for a rebuild and putting a different wastegate flap/housing on. I hoped my for sale threads are honest, sorry for any confusion!
  15. Think 32 GTR, all the history it has with Group A racing in Australia alone, then the decades of drift culture in J - then consider the hundreds of references in video games, movies, TV shows and the media. Then think of an Integra/Civic/Prelude. What comes to mind in motorsport? Not much. What comes to mind in Movies? Not much. What comes to mind in japanese car culture, again, not much - not half as much as Skylines/Silvias/Supras/Soarers/WRXs/EVOs etc... But yeah I agree with what you say. In terms of public image Skylines don't exactly spring to mind as being nice, good, sensible, fast cars - especially in the eyes of the boys in blue.
  16. Yeah I'm sure they are quick and handle well etc.. But its still a Honda. -By owning one you join the club of 18 year old Asian fanboys (no offence) who think they are the best cars on the road just due to 'vee tak' -They have no presence or prestige. -They reek of try hard. -They are P plate cars. -Most people in said group own them because they cant get a 'real' performance car (Evo, GTR, STI, etc...) due to money or laws. I think its the image of the car that spoils them for me unfortunately. If honda brought out a RWD turbo coupe, I still don't think it consider buying one, just on principle (yes, i would miss out...) Also as I've said before I think the hype of them outweighs their true performance. Having said that they DO perform well, just not up to the hype they have preceding them... Torque FTW!
  17. Awesome! I was expecting a Perspex body with a real engine but this was just as cool! Imagine the man hours that wouldve gone into this!
  18. 'ken oath!
  19. Is this dickhead on drugs? Since when does a car's exhaust impact on someone's health? Notice how he specifically mentions the noise?!?! i.e. nothing about emissions lol wanker. Textbook case of Police just trying to appease the media, and doing VERY little towards making our road safer. Last time I checked, loud exhausts didn't make our roads dangerous, its faggots who drive up people's asses, run red lights, drink drive, dont use indicators, mums too focused on their kids etc... who cause our roads to be dangerous. I've said it sooo many times, for years... But road safety starts with better (not HARDER) but BETTER driver training/education. High speed exercises, skidpans, defensive driver techniques...
  20. Mate you dont need to own/drive a car to form an opinion on it. I don't like hondas engineering at all, that's what I was getting at. I know enough about them to balance my own opinion. I bet 99% of the people that enjoy the thought of an R35GTR have never driven and certainly not driven one, so by using your logic, they aren't justified to have an opinion of such a car either. See where I'm goin with this? So the next person who drools over a bugatti veyron, are you gonna have the same response?? I Bet not.
  21. Then why did you care so much to join this thread, when you had no constructive input at all?? Did my original comment offend you THAT much? (that's what leads us to think you're an angry person)
  22. mate, can you read? I said any of those engines can have similar power, using those engines to prove my point. I never said those other engines are better/worse. Seriously man I don't know what lt your problem is. Why the gosh darn are you even posting in this thread???? You are not welcome here, how exactly are you contribting to this topic? Moving on... @ oh-so-swift: I guess these cars are good for what they are, being small displacement small cars, but they are hyped up to be soooo much more that. Sometimes the hype from the Honda fanboys makes them seem like skyline beaters, when they are no where near... That's the problem I think, theres nothing wrong with them, just they are hyped up to be way more then they are.

  24. so why did you post at all? I wouldve thought that was a no brainer ahaha Clearly you're just being all tough and shit, and you must enjoy laying shit on people to make yourself feel good. Fvuck off to the wasteland for that. Anyway... The problem I have with these type of Hondas is they are only small engines with some decent redlines and tricky cam profiles. Any decent engine (ca, sr, fj, qr, 4age, etc) can have similar power. An SR20VE with some good breathing mods would shit on a Honda, it's just that they give it a tricky name and have a big fan base.
  25. 90% of Hondas are the same, that's why i posted. Civics, Preludes, Integras etc... All front wheel drive, sub 2.0L VTEC 4clys that weigh approx 1000kgs. Bit of pot calling the kettle black dont ya think? you havn't even mentioned ANYTHING about a car, let alone a different model Honda.
