  1. by regulation in F1, the fuel tank must sit behind the driver, along with the oil tank (they are dry sump) id love to see someone do some engineering along the lines of cold fuel vs. hot fuel and their effects on power. i can imagine for turbo cars, colder fuels would decrease the chance of detonation... i.e. adding a 'tank cooler' would have similar effects to adding/having a bigger intercooler, thus allowing you to safely up the boost a little more.
  2. ok im happy anyway. i found the specs, apparently its very similar to the RB25 turbo but with a bigger exhaust housing... which is EXACTLY what im after haha my mates got a 300zx from which it came, it drives well. would you ship to perth and take $280?
  3. keen on the turbo... whats the A/R? how is the shaft play and oil seals? do you know what the wastegate is set at from stock? thanks...
  4. are you parting with the turbo? sounds like your keeping it, just wanna confirm... im keen if you are... $300?
  5. talk about negative camber on that silvia pic few posts up!!!
  6. all this shows lack of driver training IMO. look at how easy it is to get your license here in aus! what we need is mandatory defensive driving courses and driving skill tests, not just your average drive round the block with an inspector for 20 minutes - its no where near enough preparation for new drivers. bottom line is, most people just don't know what it takes to crash a car. i'm lucky in a way, i had a serious accident on the 2nd day of having my license, long story short, a drunk driver ran me off the road and the car rolled twice, i was fairly seriously injured. after that, i've known exactly what it takes to crash a car and i can drive accoridngly. Being a P plater myself, and all of us being car enthusiasts, unfortunately weve been tarred with the same brush as these wreckless drivers. drive safe people. RIP victim.
  7. haha thanks fellas. it should be all fine providing i don't get GReddy - ahh, greedy i mean - in terms of boost/rpm... haha stock internals are good for 400hp and 8-10 pound, guys in the US have the same engine as me (QR25DE) in a liberty/camry sized car called a sentra. so my 6 pound is pretty conservative. there's bucket loads of info on their forum too, heaps of guys bolt on turdblows with pretty cool numbers. its all in the tune, so a professional tune is a must...
  8. all cars have a certain amount of overlap at idle. its just he cant hear it in the exhaust now from a little fuel escaping. in my experience, most performance alterations you do, will lead to a lumpier sounding idle. i wasnt referring to a change in anything vlavetrain related. no need to be patronising mate, i dont know everything there is to know about engines, and i dont claim to either.
  9. hahaha +1 the "coughing" you're hearing at idle is valve overlap. more specifically, its unburnt fuel escaping into the exhaust and exploding there. nothing to worry about. just means your timing had been optimised for mid-high rpm power production, its a good thing!
  10. clutch installation booked in. turbo timer purchased.
  11. alt should put out about 13-15 volts. dont know much about skylines, but seams to be a possible problem...
  12. re: fuel pump... how greater flow does it produce? up to about what hp would it suit? re: injectors... top feed? side feed? low or high impedance?
  13. thanks! thats exactly what im going for. theres only 1 other turbocharged x-trail in australia... anything beats YET another commonwhore.
  14. not really yet! i havnt started collecting parts that intensely yet... BUT! heres a pic of my new clutch and flywheel, goin in in two weeks... heres a pic of the engine bay minus turbo (or course) this the makings of a merge pipe without the T3 flange for my custom turbo manifold, my best mates a vehicle body builder (gotta love mates) and just for shits a giggles, heres my car fairly recently... x
  15. Hey guys... Im Cam. im 18, from perth, studying automotive engineering @ uni, love skylines, love nissans... at the mo i'm piecing together a turbo kit for my 2002 manual X-Trail Ti-L what brings me to a skyline forum you may ask? apart from using the stock turbo from an RB25DET (see the wanted to buy section if you happen to have one lying around), im copying most of the engineering from said engine from R33s looking forward to sharing info with yaz. and also looking forward to still getting my ass whooped every time i line up next to a skyline, even when my car's finished haha x
  16. Hey peeps. piecing together my turbo kit for my x-trail. the T3 unit from stock RB25DET engines is what i'm after its almost perfect size, and im only after 6-8 pound of boost Thanks guys. contact me here or (preferably) on 0424438501
