I beleive late models used the 5 speed auto....not sure on AWD though ? I know all the turbo auto's were 5 speed

If you were the owner you should get the wreck back alot cheaper than what they'd sell it to a wrecker for. Nathan (TAKUSHI) got his RB25 Ceffy wreck back from (?)JustCar for $600. Probably works out better off to buy the wreck back and part it out, otherwise there are only a handfull of wreckers that will by a Skyline, wait a few weeks then ring around to track it down.

Please Help: R33 Coolant In Footwell
Nic_A31 replied to SargeRX8's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Has to be your air con man, that is the only coolant, infact the only liquid in cab (except sunroof drain pipes). Remove your lower trim, then your main dash is held in via 6 screws (easy, having a mate helps to get it out around the steering wheel, but can be done alone), and check and tighen up all your pipes. -
Yeah like I said, shaft play / snapping / any shaft drama' is caused by any or a combination of issues. Spinning at 200'000 or 300'000 rpm, then being forced to go the other way in less than half a second certainly doesnt help the shaft live a long and happy life.
-
This is probably where we're dissagreing. What death exactly are you thinking of? Im saying that high pressure going back towards a compressor will rip the blades off the wheel. Immediately slowing down and speeding back up (surge) can cause the shaft to snap, or contribute towards shaft play, and shaft play / broken shaft can also be affected by prior life of the turbo (kms, oils used, treatment etc), such factors cannot possibly cause the blades on a wheel to come off ... that can only be caused by excessive feedback.
-
Oh and Im guessing somebody will come back with "oh but Ceffies didnt have boV from factory and their ceramic turbo's last just as long" - yes, but factory turbo ceffies boost less than 5 psi... which is safe enough for ceramic, can probably handle a tad more. Steel wheel can handle alot more on top, but for "massive flutter" you need some seriously high pressure.
-
Then what you claim is there is no evidence, in ANY case, regardless of any setup, to say that anything caused turbo death or extended its life. What would have caused it then ? stock turbo's don't blow teeth off... Its highly likely that bouncing 10psi at 7 grand back onto ceramic blades will cause those blades to break free. Any that doesnt is simply a factory freak.
-
There IS evidence actually mate. Ceramic turbo's last long under surge. Steel wheel as found in R33s can handle it, they'll usually end up with shaft play before the turbine blades go, either way it is bad for your turbo. The more boost the worse it is. If you want to fix it straight away, either loop the intake to skip the turbo, if you have a boost controller - cut out boost altogether, and rectify why your blow off valve isnt opening.

Ericjayrol's Nissan Skyline R34 25gt
Nic_A31 replied to Ericjayrol's topic in Four door and wagon builds
Keep the side skirts, get a matching front and rear bumper -
For the record, D = Double Overhead Cam, not twin cam/dual cam. V engines such as VE, VG and VQ come in DE and quad cam.

Remove all your gear and say the car had nothing when you got it. All stock, just like the policy says. If anything they'll deduct a couple of hundred bucks off your pay out, if that.

For the record guys, aftermarket car audio is NOT covered in car insurance. It can be covered under home + contents insurance, but if your car gets stolen, burnt out, totalled, hail damaged, and thus written off, most policies dont account car audio as extra value of the car. I know JustCar do, which also add to the agreed value of the car along with flash paint jobs, specific modifications, bodyklits, etc, but most polices won't cover it.

Power Window Help A31 Cefiro Help / Advice Needed
Nic_A31 replied to Mr Eps's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Definately not fuse related. Check the connection on the back of the drivers side control. If that fails, bring your car around and we'll try resoldering the board. Almost every eletrical fault I've had in a Nissan has been to do with bad solder joints done by the machines in the factory. -
Just tell them when they write the car off. If the audio gear was part of the agreed value then they'll subtract it from what they pay you out. If it wasnt, just take it out, they won't care. I know a few people who've been asked if they want to remove the stuff before the car is written off.

Maybe the initial price. I had my eye on some black resprayed R32 GTRs with brand new rubber on all 4s, in mint condition, started at 600 or 700 and got down to 500 before they sold. Picked up some R32 GTSTs last night for $300, rubber is low on the rears and a bit of camber wear on the front.
-
$400 - $500
-
^^ yeah. I've seen a few people have go at installing the GTR screen and all the sensors, the looms get f**king MESSY and its an epic headache task.

Controling gear shifts in Auto is easy. 1 2 D if yours has O/D that will also dictate 3rd/4th gear
-
Do you want the cluster for any other reason than you think it's cool ?
-
Tighten the bolts on the oil inlet and return lines to the turbo (better yet, replace the gaskets while you're at it), and give it a clean with a high pressure hose, see if it leaks again. Also find a better mechanic.

Thanks dude. Definately floorplan related then I guess...this is odd

Have this gap on both sides of both of mine.

Wtb: Cefiro Bits And Pieces
Nic_A31 replied to rayj's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
The vent itself isnt rare, the plastic surround is much like the Series 2 taillights and grille, people like to ask for $500+ for them. Very rare, very sought after. -
Don't think it forces higher gear starts. The switch dictates where the gearbox shifts under normal driving. If its on hold it'll shift earlier than normal, if the switch is off it'll shift whenever, if it's on Power it'll shift as late as possible but won't exceed the redline. If the switch is on hold or neither, and you plant your foot, it will act as Power anyway and shift late. The idea of the switch is to change the shifting behaviour between cruising and hard driving, but it makes little difference.

Dani - which WORKSHOP is doing the work for you. Don't cruise it on a permit man, I got one today for my new one, and they quiz you big time on it: Where is the vehicle being driven FROM Where is the vehicle being driven TO What time is your mum cooking dinner What color jocks will you be wearing OK the last two are bullshit, but it'll end sour if you get caught cruising it around outside of a direct route on a Tempo Move Permit.
