  1. G'day SydneyKid, Just wondering if the change (retard) of timing, when you retard the cam gear, is noticable in a change of base timing with a timing light? I'm just thinking that once the cam gear has been retarded, is it best to check the base timing and set it to what ever it was, or back to the stock 15 degrees advance, seems that if you line it back up with the mark you put on the CAS it'll now be a touch retarded.   2. Cool - thanks for that. With the little pipe thing, did you just leave it to vent into the air ?? Do you think it would cause any problems venting into the air, as air would pass out the pipe when the BOV opens. Maybe the small amount of air that it'd be wouldn't cause the problems that the ext venting BOV's cause. I suppose if you got really fussy you could plumb the little pipe thing back into the return pipe for the BOV ?? If I get bored one day I might give it a try. J
  3. Before you get a re-tune to try and get rid of the dip, change the cam gear to 3 degrees retard (1.5 degrees on the cam wheel) and see how that goes. Generally (changes depending on setup), 4 degrees will give you more top end, while 3 degrees will give you more mid range. I opted for 3 degrees cause mid range is where it's all at for me

  5. Wow - so the RB30 radiator is a fair wack bigger than the RB25det one ?? Are they a direct swap? hose in/out in the same location, and all the mounting points the same ?? J

  9. BAD BAD BAD..... For every 1 degree on the cam wheel, it's 2 degrees crank angle !! So in my case I was aiming for 3 degrees crank angle retard, so I adjusted my cam gear to 1.5 degrees retard... So if you adjusted yours to about 3.75 degrees on the cam gear then your running about 7 degrees retard !!!! J

  13. Cool, Yeah, the one I had in my last car was done via the tacho and used to get confused on steep hills etc. But it was pretty old (bought it about 12 years ago). Might put one on my wish list. BTW: I like what you did with the uhf transmitter. Good idea to keep the dash nice and neat. J

  15. Ska - Thanks for the post - really good stuff. LOL "Whistles" LOL Where can I get a "Whistle BOV" ??? So it looks like their main concern is the noise, although they also mention the risk or the emisions changing.... I suppose this may be (one of) the reasons why pods are illegal in some states too. Eg. noise... Good to see intercoolers are OK Jayson
  16. I've seen a few being sold without markings. I think these type are usually the stock cam gears that have been modified to be adjustable. J
  17. Anyone know how well the vacume ones work on turbo cars where the power delivery isn't liner ?? My last car had cruise, and it killed me going to a car without it Stimps - does the one you've got work on the tacho signal as well ?? I've never installed one that runs on the magnets etc....
  18. I've used a fine cut polish on my lights a few times and they come up really good. But after about a month they are back to looking crappy Ryobi - that mothers stuff that you've used, does it keep the lights clear, or are yours the same as mine and go crappy again after a month ?? J
  19. It may be. I havent done a cam gear on a RB20DET, although alot of things between the RB20 and RB25's seem to be the same. J

G'day Locash, Welcome to Canberra There's not many import dealers in Canberra, and because of this they think they can put their prices up But there's Fast and Furious and EVO out in Fyshwick, Brain Hall in Phillip, and I think Shogans out in Belconnen. Probably more... Best to buy private or take a trip to Sydney or Melb to grab one. A few nice ones come up privately, there's a few nice ones for sale in on SAU at the moment too !! Cheers Jayson
  21. Eeeckkk.. Don't guess.... Isn't there any degrees marking on it??? If not, then I'm stuffed... I know 3 degrees isn't very much at all. Like about 1-1.5mm at the most. I remember adjusting it to 3 degrees and looking at how much it was moved and thinking to myself "ummm, are they sure that's gunna make a difference !!". But sure enough it did. J

  23. Yepp, Canberra import car prices are a joke. You guys in Vic, QLD, and WA have it good I tell ya..... I think there are only 3 or 4 places in Canberra that sells import cars like Skylines, so they seem to think that they have you by the balls. I bought mine secondhand privately and had no problems. One thing is just don't be in a rush to buy one. I looked at about 20 cars and test drove about 5 before I got mine. Something will come up that's exactly what your after. J
  24. These are going to be pretty rare And if someone does have one I don't think they would want to give it up I think your best bet would to go straight to Nissan. J
  25. Your right there, and I stand corrected I think the reason why I said that is cause where I work we get the constant flow of people going past the 'cruise' street and manage to change gears 3 times in the space of 50 metres under boost, just to get their BOV to sound off LOL. Looks funny.. J
