Lol agreed definitely, You really have to compare apples with apples, comparing a 2.5 litre and a 3 litre engine in the case of the 2J is stupid (increased stresses due to lower displacement etc) I think one of the biggest problems is people have these toyota engines and in alot of cases they are transplanted out of much newer cars and they are comparing them with 89 - 91 vintage RB's (especially the 26) And we all know the story with the nose of the crank etc. However you don't seem to hear about too many 34 vintage RB's with these apocalyptic "oiling issues" I seriously cringe everytime i hear someone mention oiling problem, harmonics, oil pump, extended sump because I just know the how the conversation is going to go. Anywho it's all good, gotta go "rebuild" my 26

Also keen to hear what people think of staggered cams as it's pretty hard to get a straight answer anywhere ! For what it's worth my car has 264 and 272 duration with a 10.2mm lift for both and after 5000 RPM is an animal (33N1 turbo's supposedly)

do you have your climate control unit and associated bits, Boot lining and trim ? the metal sheet that closes up the hole between the boot and the rear seats ? the factory gauge cluster IE oil temp, voltage and boost ? also what about side skirts ?

If your not comfortable doing the sort of stuff I mentioned in the first post mate, your probably better off taking it to a workshop that has experiences with these cars if you can afford it. Sometimes it's easy to do more harm then good. Goodluck.

Its called a misfire mate, type Misfire, Miss etc into the search there are heaps of topics on it. Firstly, Check all your silicon joiners and hose clamps as if they afm is reading air but the engine is loosing it under pressure then you will overfuel and get these symptoms. Does it blow alot of black smoke when this happens ? secondly check the following: Spark plugs and or gaps, coil packs themselves, Ignitor (sits towards the back of your engine) How does the car feel when it hits this "wall" ? also you could try buying some air flow meter cleaner from repco or wherever and giving your AFM a nice spray clean (DO NOT TOUCH ANY PART INSIDE THE AIR FLOW METER BODY) Goodluck.

had 2 N1 Oil pumps thus far, first one was attached to an engine that was dropped off a stand smashing a big crack in it, went strong for ages, never lost pressure once. replaced it once i found it obviously (long story) new one is going awesome.

just as an offside birds, i have a slight vibration between 2000 and 3000 RPM which goes away after this range, it also occurs in neutral, any thoughts ?

JZ engines can make 10'000 horsepower on stock everything, even turbos and fuel pump, I don't know if anyone had mentioned this. They are so much better ZOOM said so, The are so much better Martin Donnon said so, They are so much better, the Yanks think so. .......................

He could be right, I'm not saying anything either way but obviously there are alot of RB30's that rev ludicrously hard so in applications terms IE in our cars the difference may be so minimal that it isn't worth discussing. There is however a 14% increase in stroke length between a 26 and a 30.

Yeah mate, thats my GT-R, I have a set of Apexi 17x9's for it with an awesome offset but i took them off to get completely fixed up, straighten polish etc on the gold coast and i put those blitz wheels on it in the mean time they are only 8's with a worse offset. My other wheels are back on it now.
