Omg!@# Oil Spraying Out My Bov???
GTRgeoff replied to R32-Drifter's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Been here before. Bad news is if your blowing our the dipstick with any regularity it would be blowby pressure causing it, usually associated with broken rings/ring lands from detonation. It blows oil out of the cam covers into the intake, through the compressor, fills your intercooler, into the engine and huge clouds of smoke everywhere. Also would be coming out your BOV. Diagnosis....get a leakdown test/compression test and be prepared to order new pistons, rings and engine machining. Sorry to really cruel the buzz. You should look into the cause of the detonation. Mine was a compressor seal leak that dumped in oil at hight load causing the detonation but the result is the same. -
FS: 3" Dump/Front pipe to suit R33 GTS-T

I'll take it, plus shipping which I expect to be about $20. I'll pay $200 now and the remainder plus shipping when it arrives to make sure you don't get stiffed on the cost of shipping. -
There seem to be quite a few good ol' v8's out there that can pull fast quarters, in the 9-11 sec bracket and doing it seemingly effortlessly when I have seen it at Willowbank. It has just caught my attention and it seems there is a fair amount of drama involved with doing it in a 4/6. Lotsa noise and no guarantees kinda atmosphere. These old fords I was getting to look at where nothing special. I was with mates of the owners and they were all a pretty standard setup with 2 speed boxes, good low grunt and juuuuuust the right suspension setup and tyre pressure (soft rears, really soft). Hell even a panel van did a 9! 'Lines tend more toward circuit setup in my limited perspective and obviously the 60 time is critical so if you were to trick the box, raise the stall and work the suspension it would be interesting to see how the stock power output would do over the early part of the course. Just seems too many import owners get the suspension and 'box setup wrong, more a street tuff setup.

Wanna pick this one up for us then and get a price on the laser cut ones Denham? I'll pre-pay if they are a reasonable price. We could customise with our own coloured "S" if they were all silver

quick question for people with carbon fibre bonnet
GTRgeoff replied to nicknick's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Nothing short of car playgrounds (like footy fields) will stop these gatherings, as discussed on the Soarer site (I know, but there are some sweet sc400's out there). If it were easy to blow off the steam and legal I would go along and sign a disclaimer and have fun. It's great excitement, but I will maintain my control and wait to get to the appropriate venue and refuse to participate in the off track scene, other than cruises, due to the general perception. People will do what they want, just don't come on here and bleat and whine when defected or fined and definitely don't brag about doing illegal stuff. Your details can be subpoenaed from the admins so just think of them when posting. I have had to rethink after a reminder myself but I care for the contiinuance of this forum. It's my shopping mall -
If you get 100 then all of the local aftermarket parts outlets will want some. Milk I saw the other thread where they were after blue, and that threw me off. Stupid not to check the link. Denham just wants his for the skid pan day later this month

Thanks b-e. I don't mind being corrected. He is an awesome example regardless. I hope to be as active at that age (high hope given I just had an injection in the spinal cord and can barely walk). Wish I could take the museum off his hands but thats not possible. We share a similar history too. Both Engineers, both trained as Recovery Mechanics - an Army specialisation for rapid repair, salvage, extrication and general thievery of anything useful with Army badging that doesn't appear to have an owner. We could almost make a welder out of a 10c piece and a ball point pen if necessary No hill too steep, no ditch too deep, you bend, we mend, you maul, we haul is the old motto. Do anything type guys, welding, machining, mechanics, winching, crane operation, specialist vehicle operations, diving and underwater salvage, combat medicine and triage, communications and signals, armoured vehicle specialists, plant equipment operation, fatalities recovery and grave registration and burial, beer drinking a speciality. Anyway, he deserves real respect and has mine. The gear in his day was tougher to operate.

Hey I just keep my music fetish private.....but if you want CD's that go from Evanessence to faith hill to the seekers to Slim Dusty (god rest his soul), I can help -
WARNING - thread hijack!!!! Gary is there any suspension info you don't know? Seriously though, I have been in touch with several uni's down here to do a Masters degree in automotive engineering design and management (since I already have a number of management subjects under the belt). I feel a need to do more automotive study, but don't want to do the undergad SAE degree, for obvious reasons. No-one offers even an SAE automotive masters. What would you suggest? My key interests are suspension design, engine management, emmissions, and ultimately performance and motorsport. I have searched a few TAFE campuses but am still at a loss. Where do you get training and experience in these areas?

I think the general consensus here is each engine/car combo is more than capable on the std internals with good support systems and good tuning, including suspension. You can make power without all that, but be prepared to wear a bill if you go beyond the threshold and get detonation. It only takes that one time, then it is worth the good rebuild but you will still need the support systems and tuning.

I'll get 2 as well...one for each line. Are they Blue S under GT or red S in the GTR style? (blue being GT symbol for the NA side badge)

Jesus Roy....you drinking this early in the morning? Tony the only other thing you coulda done was ask him to record everything....keeps them absolutely honest. He couldn't do you for the chirp as it was a self defence case. Precedence was set recently in Vic when an ex-cop was booked on his MC by a camera, but claimed a ute was pulling out and would have struck him if he hadn't gunned it a bit (stopping would not have avoided the accident). Magistrate threw it out and wanted to know why the police had persisted with the case. Stupidity was the likely response. This will work too with red lights and I always check to see if someone is up the clacker before braking. Had one close call before. -
quick question for people with carbon fibre bonnet
GTRgeoff replied to nicknick's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
The wieght of these 2 quality responses on behalf of the street racing legends leads me to believe there should be a shoot on capture law for Fast and Furious wannabes. I retire satisfied and unsurprised by the lack of intellect related with street racing, and await your attendance at a real race track one day. -

GTRgeoff replied to nicknick's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
nicknick I think you were just trolling for confrontation from the forum. I don't expect you to respond to this in a constructive way, so the challenge has been presented. I hope to be surprised. As far as street racing goes, you have to be a complete fool to think you are THE MAN for participating. Take it to the track (not drag) where RICE is treated as the W*NK that it is and I expect you will get shown up as the simplistic unskilled vehicle operator I suspect you are from your responses thus far. (Are you on your P's?) I manage to drive a reasonably fast track car on the streets without ever getting defected or speed fines, but that is a matter of attitude and attention to detail, not avoiding attention. You can hide a lot of defectable things by finishing them to look almost stock, not RICING UP. Yes carbon bonnets have race value but paint them or something to avoid attention if you must have it on (say on the way to and from the track). Carbon bonnets have to be one of the most dangerous pedestrian hazards after bull bars, and I bet if they [bullbars] were cool you'd have one of them too. This is why they are, in part, illegal. I would put it to you that perhaps most pedestrians will be in the wrong when hit by a vehicle, but the general attitude will be the car driver is the baddie, and if you slice them up with a fracturing carbon bonnet you will wear it. The long term effects on their body, of having carbon sharps permanently embedded, will possibly ruin their lives and you WILL be sued for the long term medical bills as your insurance, if you have any, will drop you to take the fall. Bonnets take 5 minutes to fit so why have it for the open road? (other than the previous example) I think the general expectation on this forum is one of responsible discussion and vehicle ownership, not breaking the law and running from police. Respect that or you will get what is due. Your serve, you will be judged on your response! -
Just buy RNS11Z car for 27K

Just take the pipe from the compressed side off and look for "shiny bits" first. May save some work. remember a turbo spins way quick so if it was interfering anywhere it would sound like a squeal "interfering...squeal" sounds like gordo and DJ with their 14 yo
