  1. ChubbaH I don't have any long term plans regarding adelaide, only a quick wine and beer swilling visit to my mate with the hot mx5. Some basic tips tho to keep the heat off: 1. be polite and businesslike 2. insist all conversations are recorded (note item 1) , especially police. It should not be refused and ask for refusal in writing 3. ask for a written transcript of the proceedings with full detail of the nature and regulations of the non compliant item/s 4. never accept measurement made by judgement. Only an approved measuring device and take the serial numbers down. 5. carry a note book and pencil sharpened at both ends (will write in the rain as well) and write down as much detail as possible 6. if you are in the wrong wear it, but absolutely never accept corrupt behaviour from a public sector employee like police and vehicle inspectors 7. ask clear questions while the recorder is running to test/establish the level of understanding of the officer involved. they may back off if they have limited knowledge. 8. be polite when they leave fuming that their own regulations work against them as well :D Make contact with the state ombudsmans office to determine exactly how to raise complaints against corrupt state employees. the ombudsman and his team will be SUPER critical and super fair regarding ANY complaint and have to investigate it. I'm in defence and we get looked at all the time because we are nasty to people sometimes (I'm not personally ) Note my use of the term corrupt. That is my professional assessment of the structure and application of the SA laws and regulations regarding these matters as I have seen posted in these forums. no public sector employee is safe from negligence or dereliction of duty charges in the face of clear evidence and any attempt to protect them by legislation or misrepresenting the legislation is unconstutional and corrupt. Protest by petition and visiting en-mass your local and state pollies. Fight for your rights

  3. Hey Pred..... what evil are you planning? Dr Drift, I may be in a position for some toulene tuning in about 3-4 weeks all going well with the engine rebuild. Getting the PFCas recommended by a well known performance tuner so I will be looking for the right settings for the track (circuit)
  4. Which is exactly why these cretins OWN your asses. Take them on after doing some research. I don't claim to know everything, but I have a hell of an education and trade qualifications and will not allow myself to be subject to corrupt behaviour. Sure you think SA is pure as the driven snow. Qld had the fitzgerald enquiry into corruption, NSW had their ICAC and Vic are getting shafted now. Think it's just going to get forgotten? SA will have it's corruption witch hunt but only if people complain enough and demand accountability. they are ONLY public sector employees.
  5. Indeed it does, to meet the strict emission laws developing in japan and california. The poor old, but legendary, cast iron RB just can't quite cut it any more for emissions.....but screw them
  6. Backup the 3 k tolerance in vic ignores adr's for vehicle manufacture that allow a 10% tolerance. Not to mention the thickness of my speedo needle is about 3 km.Our state opposition is making it an election platform to go back to 10% as anything less is revenue raising
  7. If regency are taking money for the work/inspections they do and are not consistent or mislead their 'customers' then it is an offence under the trade practices act and government is not exempt, particularly if they are making customer pay financially.
  8. I'd be happy to try my luck, and tear them apart in court for constitutional breaches as well as offences under the trade practices act if their services at regency are billed and their findings/advice are inconsistent and misleading. :whip: The commission gives me authority under the defence force disciplinary act (a federal act of parliament) similar to those of a magistrate, although I don't need a jury and can fine, incarcerate and jail offenders. Ever wanted to argue with a judge? I know who the local magistrate will side with if it came down one word against the other. And if you ever needed an expert witness in regard to things technical or mechanical you get an engineer not a coppa or mechanic. Bring em on. Just hate that it sux so much for you guys.
  9. PranK you a downhill shredding dude? Or is the dually just for the northern beaches? (yep thread hijack) Sand must be a bastard in the cassette. Roadie myself. Giant of course. 02 TCR Team ONCE. Worth a squillion apparently. Carbon forks 1.1kg. Alloy Frame 0.7 kg...feels like papier mach'e. So back to cars
  10. Clint shotgun the caster rods. Does that include postage? I can wait until next weekend to pick them up from you in melbourne. cash of course
  11. Only been racing since the mid 80's and driving instruction since 89 so maybe I've got this wrong but skidpan is not initially about control. It's about showing how easily a car becomes unstuck and what a passenger you become afterward. Then you teach anticipation and are establishing limits in adverse conditions...working out how long a light has been green and instead of speeding up to make it, preparing to slow and stop, trying to control a slight slide, understeer and oversteer, front/rear/all wheel drive. Then the control and advanced stuff comes. I have never done a wet drift training day, never felt a need but I will soon as a mate is a director at driver dynamics so might as well. I do have plenty of rally experience tho. And my last track day I had the rear step out at 160kmh when i hit a puddle in the belting rain, and i powered through the slide to smoothly regain control. Coulda been worse...lots. Later I was exploring my traction limits....getting wheelspin in fourth at over 180 kmh on the main straight at sandown. To say that it can be adverse, yeah only if the trainers try to let you run before you even know how to sit up, so don't generalise just yet. I would counsel defensive then advanced then drifto over the course of a coupla years with lotsa practice in between. Condolences to the family. I wish the boy had been educated properly and seen the stupidity of the actions.
  12. Had a rally club open day where for $10 to charity the locals could come along for 2 rides in rally cars, everthing from datto 1200's to Evos. One guy got the ride of his life when the newly finished S2 rx7 flipped onto its roof...ouch. Best 10 bucks he ever spent.I'm having withdrawals...no go fast car, just a stock 'line and soarer. Can someone take me for a ride in a GTR...it's been years, honest.
  13. I'll take the fuel pump off your hands if that price includes delivery.
  14. Glad I have a degree in mechanical engineering, a backgound trade as a mechanic, a healthy working understanding and tertiary specialisation in radar, laser and acoustics, legal training and a Queens commission. Cops have cringed when I start discussing these topics during social roadside discussions. Never been canaried tho for some reason....... A mate has just moved to Adelaide with a modded MX5 so I have to call him and tell him to watch out for the dangerous hoons in imports, and the even more dangerous, due to stupidity, state law enforcement representatives. I'm looking further into accreditation for the purpose of vehicle engineering inspections and offering a Melbourne service which may help some of the guys here.
  15. Yeah I agree on the dangerous stuff getting out of hand in the media, but they are putting a blanket policy on all modifications to suspension height etc and choosing to ignore federal standards and adr's. Make it clear you do not support illegal activity or hoonish behaviour, you simply want to exercise you right to modify your motor vehicle in line with the relevant national standards and rules as agreed to by the state govt, and oppose the draconian interperetations applied by the state authorities in an unjust and unconstitutional manner. Throw your submission to DOTARS and to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) as well. I'm sure your a smart guy, and can make this work out but really, dissemination to the widest audience is the key to playing in politics when you have the moral and constitutional high ground. "It's the vibe...."
  16. Anyone going to go find out???? Until then I'll stick with 'it'.
  17. Fines thay should have: 1. driving a pretend WRX. I am no fan of the soobs in the first place but to buy a pretend one and think you're cool.....pfffft 2. thinking that driving with foglights on is cool. WRX wankers started this bull, and HSV then Ford followed...MORONS. There's barely enough fog in Oz to warrant them. Can't wait until it's made illegal in Vic to get the message out.."you aren't cool, just a flog" 3. coming on a performance car website (as opposed to a soob site ) and admitting you only got an auto license and were stoopid enuff to get a manual. What, couldn't pass the test any other way??? Suck it up!!!
  18. I do believe the socially acceptable term for a non-gender specific person is "IT"
  19. Bozz as well as the other enquiry I made regarding the A/C comp, I'll be happy to take the Steering wheel off your hands at that price. I'll wait for an answer on the comp before arranging to come and pick it up.
  20. It's clear these are two different rods, and unfortunately it confirms mine are the inferior R25 rods. Some notes on the visual differences and the structural implications. Areas are marked A and B. At area A the 26 rod (the unmarked image) has a much beefier lug area around the head of the bolt, which gives greater support to the most significant difference at Area B, where the 26 rod starts to taper out toward the rod bolt much higher up the rod length. This is significant because the inertial mass further away from the crank adds up and can cause permanent deformation or complete failure so has been countered by adding more and more material further away from the piston. So instead of more mass all along the rod, it has been added little by little where it is needed most. If a constant size rod were to snap due to inertia from mass toward the free end, it would obviously snap toward the constrained end. In addition the tapering gives significant columnar stability due to compressive forces. All of this adds up making this rod far more capable in terms of high power and high rpm application...DAMMIT!!!
  21. It has to follow more than one avenue, such as full copy and extracts to the papers, copies to the television channels, the minister, opposition leader and shadow minister, and the state Ombudsman. Make sure when submitted it has a full address list attached so the filth cannot ignore it. There is nothing worse for a pollie or Govt dept than bad media or questions about ignored issues. I'm in Defence acquisitions and we deal with it all of the time, answering questions from the ministers office from even unsubstantiated claims, but this one has substance.
  22. Have you lowered the car???? Maybe your not getting good contact due to too much negative camber and the tyre pressures. Think about some rear camber adjusters as well.
  23. Not much wrong with them, pretty nice car and I've even thought of dumping the Lynx for the 2 L Mazda/Ford, but it has too many mods and is just such a nice little machine. Also tossed around the idea of a Focus, just to feed the hot hatch fetish but they only sell the gutless ones out here. Yeah, pretty up the SP20 will be nice.
  24. Head down to Clark Rubber, buy a metre and sell the leftover to your mates
