  1. Cyric; I just fitted a GTR rear strut brace to my GTST( I hope you mean the one in the boot) And as you said I just tightened the begeebers out of it. The only problem that I saw with this was that the middle section of the brace looked crooked to the eye so I put a straight edge on the sucker and sure enough it was ! One of the rods was at a slight angle after I tightened it up, bastard ! The only way to get around this was to redrill the brackets about 8mm further out to reduce the thread length at the center adjusting nut. Now the bugger is straight and has the right amount of tension without being skewif. Just watch out that you drill thr hole exactaly in the right place(lots of carful measuring). Hope this is of some help Dude.
  2. I was thinking of building a stock looking air box using two filters( possiblyone on the top and one on the side of the box) the main problem being with the stock filters is one of cross sectional area, hence the concertina folding of most filters. But a problem also lies in the intake ramp size of the box it self. I dont think it has the cross sectional area to suport high flow applications. The only ways I can see this being done is to increase its size or try and force more air into the apiture. And that looks as if you have to vent the air box funnel through the bonnet at the front of the vent and place a small intake scoop on top. As air pass over the front edge of the bonnet it is under pressure and should help the problem. Sounds good on the bench, might have a serious look at the box it self in the next couple of weeks
  3. Skylines certainly are the best targets when it comes to the smash and grab boys. Them monster tachos and other guages arnt cheap and will turnover cash fast for the crims thats for sure I know speaking from experience. This time round the boost gauage and turbo timer went into the small glove box thingie under the CD player. The shift light I stripped down bolted the pill carrier to the steering cover on the left side out of sight and converted the light to one of them blue led washer squerters also on top of the steering colum cover looks neet and at first glance you miss it completly. Even though I have a top alarm system I still club lock the sucker with the lock facing the tacho/speedo gauges. That maks it tough for the bastards.
  4. As far as i know the 300 is fully street regoed and is not race/rally. It was complied buy the Australian importer who told the guy that he was importing something bigger and better ???? When the guy bought the car I started to make enquires myself because wanted one. This was mainly because he purchased the car for $23 grand(yes i know i fell off my stool as well) this was about two and a half years ago. You can not imagine the amount of "Never heard of it" and "Dosent exist" responses i got . Very frustrating cause i know the car exists. The owner is very gun shy when it comes to seeing the car. A short while ago I had some dealings with the owner of Unique motor sports and learn that he was trying to fit the V8 engine into his track car and turbo charge it. When i mentioned to him about the street 300 he nearly fell over himself trying to get the guys details. Eventaly through a friend i managed to get the owner to call the owner of Unique so they could possibly exchange info. Unfortunatly the owner of Unique pushed the guy a little to hard for a meeting and was told to f off by the cars owner. And thats the last ive heard of it.
  5. ANDY; JUST TO LET YOU KNOW HOW VERSATILE THE Q45 ENGINE IS I KNW THIS GUY IN SYDNEY WHOS GOT A SHORT WHEEL BASE 300ZX WITH A TWIN TURBO Q45 IN IT. I THINK IT CALLED A 300ZX GT OR THE LIKE. APPARENTLY HE GOT THE CAR FROM AN IMPORTER ON THE NORTH SIDE WHO GOT IT IN FROM JAPAN AS A STOLEN AND RECOVERED. THERE IS SOPPOSED TO BE A COMPANY IN JAPAN DOING THE CONVERSIONS. NOW IF THEY CAN GET THAT MOTOR INTO THAT ENGINE BAY I THINK YOU COULD FIT ONE IN JUST ABOUT ANYTHING.
