  1. If you can read a map, read numbers and count you are all good. I came to Japan two years ago for a holiday and knew nothing (hell I still can't even make a sentance) but made it around, saw stuff, got drunk, caught the bullet train and even got laid. All without any functional Jap (except a phrase book). So you will be fine, living here on the other hand, well there are lots of things I would really have struggled with were it not for the assistance of my friend's Japanese wife.
  2. Dude it was a joke, all of it was a joke!!! We just tried to make it stupider and stupider until someone got it! Scary stuff! Though on that point, quite a lot of Yakuza are not pure Japanese but I would suspect that it would be hard to become a high ranking Yakuza unless you were pure Japanese. A "proper" gaijin would have no chance... Anyway it was a fun night, Streeter was definitely to be avoided later in the night though
  3. Yes, he is such a loser for crashing a car on a racetrack... Check out this no talent German loser who crashed his multi million dollar Ferrari (this incident was not a mechanical failure of any sort) If you are out pushing your limits (however high or low they are) you risk crashing! I would have thought people on this forum would have understood that!
  4. Of girls? Nice! Anyway, cops came tonight, I did my first ever drift! The more I practiced the worse I seemed to get! Anyway, I had fun and that is what matters in the end!
  5. Audi for sure
  6. Hehe... I wish i could have. I am happy with my Silvia though... even if it is only A-tune rather than Z-tune.
  7. Damn... go hire it tonight. Andy Garcia gets cut in half by Katana wielding Bosozouku (sp?) in Black Rain. By saying that I mean that anyone who tries to talk to these gaijin will end up cut in half. It was a lame joke, made even lamer by people arcing up and being good aussies who are gonna besh the carnts. Then it got even lamer talking about Japan's Kylie and the Prime Minister, Michael Jackson got in there somehow and basically it all became a big horrible stupid mess! Oh the humanity!
  8. Yeah, the Z-tune looks hot... apart from those horrid tail lights.
  9. The reason he is getting away with it is because we are all little biatches who will do nothing but TALK (type if you will) about sorting him out. When it comes to the crunch, well there is no crunch. ...and that is why.
  10. Yes, you can join these guys, Streeter a person who has posted several times in this thread, Koizumi and Ayumi Hamasaki and stand around packing heat with the Yakuza while watching drift at Nanko. No problem. I will organise it... Here are a couple of pics to help you recognise them all. Along with the heat they are packing
  11. That is right, you heard it first from the transport authority!!! A little help required for a proper translation, but the jist of it is, I (I being hot J-girl) don't want to ride in a modified car!!! That's right, Japan's approch to tackling the young male modified car poseur is to hit him where it hurts!
  12. Since moving to Japan condoms have never fitted better! Nah man, these guys are hooked up. Yakuza, Koizumi even Ayumi Hamasaki... all the big J-gangsters! You would end up like Andy Garcia in Black Rain
  13. I dunno.
  14. Like Rezz said, Central Circuit... Also Meihan Sportsland. There is something coming up on a Saturday soon, but I work on Saturday so I don't know the details and CBF finding them. http://www.central-circuit.jp/
  15. I seem to remember a scary gaijin at Nanko called Streeter... I tried to talk to him and he told me to do something that was physically impossible. He is best avoided. Unforunately Nanko is a copfestival on Saturday night, so hopefully you enjoy standing around looking at beaten up old Nissans. There are only so many cans of coffee a person can drink while kicking the tyres of a Silvia.
  16. Don't I never hooked you up! http://www.manythings.org/japanese/links/ The best one I have used is a video called Let's Learn Japanese which is about Yan-San and his wacky adventures. It is from 1984 so it is full or weird funny retro stuff but i am finding it really helpful. The real advantage here is that I can sit on the train and try to read signs or just listen to anyone talking and it is a free Japanese lesson. Rightly or wrongly the first thing I have tried to do is learn Hiragana which I found really helps with pronounciation. I find that I tend to say things wronger using Romanji I have done this quiz about 1000 times. But instead of just clicking the right answer I try to say all three before I have listened to them then click the right answer. Also I found practicing writing them very useful in remembering. http://www.okayama-u.ac.jp/user/int/study/.../hiragana2.html http://www.okayama-u.ac.jp/user/int/study/.../katakana2.html Those links are from the links page above.
  17. Q.E.D. :uh-huh:
  18. Agreed Roy, I had a major wang happening over that car all day! Right up till when they knocked me back over putting a video camera in the car! But actually they were pretty fair about it, I just needed to ask in advance... Rezz is the exhaust flame photo MASTER! He got some great shots. I am yet to look at my video.
  19. T'was a good day! Nice to meet some of you guys in Real-Life™
  20. Great day, thanks for the lift, the company, the on-the-spot hiragana reading test and also carrying my tripod bag! I learnt a new word today hiyake ひやけ which means SUNBURN, ow
  21. I got mine from Yahoo Auctions... Hmmm, I like your stalk melting idea, I might give it a go!
  22. It is going to be a VERY early start for me It will be good to see some J-style brap brap braaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
  23. I have a 75mm spacer on my car (S14 200SX) which helps a lot. I have always preferred to have the steering wheel close. As with anything that is a "feel" component there is a lot of room for personal preference. It also depends a bit on the driving you do. Just remember that unless you have fingers like ET you will have to take your hand off the steering wheel to use the indicators and other stalk controls.
  24. Hmmm, I saw these LED style lights on some R34s and it just looks terrible. But again, put a Nismo badge on a turd and some people will still buy it.
  25. If my frickin workshop would get my frickin car on the road I would frickin be there in a second!!!
