  1. Just on a trivial note, the Group A Gibson cars used 550cc injectiors and 115psi-138psi of fuel pressure!!!
  2. Heh, I take it you have been sprayed with fluid as well Ken. I need to take some pictures of how to do it and post it up, this question pops up so often.
  3. $50,000 doesn't go very far at Eric Engineering. He used to install engines from Nismo in Gibson Group A cars!
  4. Flux Capacitor?
  5. The real worry about someone desperate to sell for money reasons is that you wonder if they had the money to service it properly. People seem very keen to pay $500 for the latest shiny thing with flashing lights, but buggered if they will pay $60 for oil and an oil filter.
  6. I guess you sort of unleaned yourself :looney:I hope it is a good car.
  7. I would buy this in a second -- http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=33827
  8. nath_gtir, not sure who told you what you said but have a look at... http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question259.htm
  9. No... not even close. Well maybe, with a shedload of fuel pressure.
  10. Fingers crossed it is an easy fix
  11. Seems like the car has ended up at my favourite import dealer... http://carpoint.ninemsn.com.au/marketplace....asp?ID=2468201 I think that says it all really.
  12. More like overwhelmed by lease payments and depreciation... not to mention sour grapes.I did 500km (mostly Highway) on the weekend in an BCNR33 and it is jiggly and tramlines (especially with noisy A032Rs) and a loud exhaust starts to do your head in after an hour or so. Also there is quite a lot of turbo lag (HKS 2530s, I remember stock being much better) so you really need to be in 2nd to overtake on the highway and be on boost straight away... But when the boost kicks in, hoooley doooley, B-doubles turn into B-nothings! It goes without saying horrendous fuel consumption. You do get tailed by other people in Skylines, WRXs and VB-VY Commodores (esp VLs) so paranoia can set in. I had a Toyota Soarer tailgating me hard with high beams on trying to get me to "race"... He accelerated past fast and burned off into the distance, while it is tempting to show them a quartet of red rings disappearing off into the distance I would rather keep my licence. So basically it is far from an ideal as a daily driver. But like that biatch ex-girlfriend who is a pain in the butt but who goes off in the sack you can forgive a lot of the GT-R. If you want something comfy, go buy a Lexus LS400.
  13. I have 40,000km old stock pistons (and 5 conrods) and stock turbos from a BCNR33 RB26DETT for sale... Let me know if you need anything... I hope you don't
  14. LOL, yes, I guess that is slightly important
  15. If you are interested I have some (40,000km) stock R33 GT-R injectors for sale. I am coming past Adelaide in 2 weeks, PM me
  16. Well I would choose the GT-R for a couple of reasons.I find the interior of the Lancer very crampt, I don't like the pedals, the gear lever position or action or the seat height. The GT-R on the other hand is much nicer, though I would prefer a reach adjustable steering wheel. The GT-R has climate control, works very well. Aussie Evo 6.5 doesn't. The sound of a straight six is pure heaven, the Evo engine has a purposeful and interesting note (when you dump the stock straw) but it doesn't do it for me. Though the RB26 note can become droning and tiring on a long trip. And also I love the look of the BCNR33, so for me the choice is easy.
  17. I had a similar thing happen last weekend, I was doing some 1st-4th gear runs and when I got back there was oil all over the engine, basically the N1 oil pump was working so well it filled up the tappet covers and oil then came out from the breather pipes to the catch can and when that filled up then oil sprayed out the top of the catch can! Very scary though...
  18. Yes, ylwgtr2 - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=32639
  19. Just some info from http://www.pow.com.au/gtr_engine_specs.htm This is an ex-Bathurst Group A heavy wall block. When GT-R engines make big horsepower (600hp+), they have been known to split the standard block. You may be wondering why the inside of the block is white in color ? It has been sealed with an epoxy coating so that the oil drains back fast and bits of cast iron cannot break from the inside of the motor and go into the oil system. The welsh plugs holes have been tapped, the original welsh plugs removed and replaced with screw in machined aluminium ones to prevent them from ever popping out when under pressure. This block is a very very rare item. These heavy wall blocks are not available anymore and are irreplaceable!
  20. Well from autospeed.com... $385.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I am sure I can come up with something more reasonable. I live 300km from Melbourne but I should be able to work out something http://www.autospeed.com/shop/category_43/browse.html APEXi Pressure Sensor for AVC-R Our Price: Aust $385.00 This is a replacement Pressure Sensor for the AVC-R Boost Controller
  21. I have a spare pressure sensor that I am not using... let me know if you are interested.
  22. Yes I thought he was driving but I guess the title was The car i WAS driving, this car was mentioned in the thread you mentioned with the Lotus. Still doesn't change the moral of the story...
  23. Yep, this is true... Though I have driven with no margin for error on public roads so I feel uncomfortable about criticising him or anyone else who comes to grief doing the same thing. In fact two days ago one of my friend's had an accident pushing hard on a mountain road, the passenger was injured. Again, I have trouble criticising the driver because of what I have done. I always thought I was within my limits but both of these drivers probably thought the same thing. I guess again it shows that the racetrack is really the place for pushing the limits...
  24. This happened in Queensland, Vic TMU can't do anything about it... Loving the schadenfreude in here...
  25. Any Skyliners out there who feel like a bit of dori action at Calder probably should head to http://www.fulllock.com/ and enter!
