Could factor into cost one of those 3.0L pre-made bottom ends from RIPS, fully forged and 3k sounds like a good upgrade
-
unshielded pods, there's job number one
-
Wow, some people make really convincing adds hey. If all he says is true it sounds good, definitely worth getting in checked out, and if a tuner is probably the best person to do it
-
Dont forget that o2 sensors are due to be replaced every 40-60 thou km. kudos sell $70 replacements for dome modeld of sd kyline
-
That's awesome! Why don't people who want to modify their engines just save up and put these in? I mean that's pretty cheap, why bother going down a more expensive path?
-
You'll get away with mild mods, most people do anyways. The site has a list of interesting cars for p platers in different price ranges, some are pretty intetesting choices
-
Or, buy something nice for the road and get a go kart, has 300 hp/ton, which is more than half a bugatti veyron. And they take corners hard enough that the wrong seat size beaks ribs..
-
Fair enough. But your best 0-100 times for even that price will prob come from a falcodore I don't like the pulars look, and im not a huge fan of the magnas to be honest, but give them a google and you'll be surprised what a difference a body kit, some good rims and lowering makes. Lol he says his supra goes alright, has 160rwkw which is gtst territory, but he's thrown 10-20 grand at it and he knows what he's doing, he's been doing stuff like this for many years. He wins dyno and track days, so yeah. Did you give that fun p plate cars site a look? Remember you can buy a cheap car and mod the crap out of and it may well be faster than the more expensive cars
-
This has been covered so many times I predicted correctly what ppl would suggest, there is at least a price this time. V35, wont get a good 350gt for under 20k. I have a mate with a monster na supra, hd reckoms its as quick as r34 gt's, bu to buy one in good nic you're looking at 13-15k, and my mate has spent at least that again in mods. Good luck finding an s15 autech, they're not common, they are expensive, then you have mods, na skylines are nice to drive but without the turbo might not be what you're looking for. Marc's sss pulsar is does the job, and I second the magna suggestion. I stepped out of an r34 gtt and into a 3.5L 3rd gen magna and I was, and still am impressed. I dont know why everyone doesnt have one: >200hp, abs, duel airbags, alloys, wing, great aircon, cruise control and fantastic torque, all for 5k. Of course, you'd buy a vrx or awd and be set. What about a mits 380 if you want even more, or an aurion? At least you know those two will certainly last you the plate stint. Or an mx6 jspec v6, I drove a normal v6 once and it was awesome. Like a go kart on the road. Throw on a decent body kit and they go from looking like a fish to a classic porsche 959. I love that look. Or an integra type r. Or the original civic type r (see top gear reviews). Or an impreza rs/rx. Awd awesomeness. What about an alfa 156 or 159, apparently theyre actually reliable and still have the alfa magic. Fk there's so much goodness out there for your 20k, im barely scratching the surface. But before you cross any car off your list for "easy" reasons, remember no car is ever perfect. You could put your savings towards property and make some real money in a few years. Just saying, there's a lot to choose from
-
+1 it might not be the prettiest in class but theres plenty of s1 gtst's for that price
-
lol buy from dori or someone else on here like I did, pod requires insulation which requires effort for no real gain. Snorkel is an easy stick on
-
pm performance wise and he'll sort you out with some yellow jackets for under $400, inc dhipping and 2 year warranty

Car Running Too Powerful And Jerking
Galois replied to kiz_baby's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Coilpacks can fail at stock boost, I know, it happened to me. The nissan coilpacks are regarded by many as the best ones available. Think about it, cars being thrashed for 10-20 years so things will eventually start to go. But the point is they do go. So if you're having ignition problems with ignition and you still have original coilpacks they're either the source of the problem, contributing, or planning a future problem for you. They're also a relatively cheap fix, yellow jackets are $400 with a 2 year warranty, and everyone seems to say aftermarket coilpacks are a great upgrade. -
A Must Read For Budding Tuners, Or Those Interested In "knock"
Galois replied to STATUS's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks trent, was a great read! -
Still here, willing to split or part with the lot for 5k
-
I might be blind, but I swear I saw a white 33 gtr in fairfield turning off orange grove rd wearing L plates
-
Saw a nice, wing-less 32 in kellyville ridge this arvo, made me miss weekend drives in my 34
-
K&n filters are supposedly damn good, cost like a dollar more than the nissan ones and, most importantly, have a nut on the end for easy removal.

DO NOT GO TO A RANDOM LOCAL MECHANIC!!! My one day clutch change turned into a disaster because an "experienced mechanic who has worked on race cars" didnt understand a pull type clutch. Do a search, most of these threads have been closed but are still there. PM me if you want my baf experiences in newcastle. When I sold my 34 I warned the guy about various places, and suggested revolution racing as there's some positive posts around for them, never been there myself tho. Be really careful where you go, there's so many horror stories on sau. And every mechanic or tyre joint will tell you they've done heaps of skylines, all they want is your money and to take your car for a thrash. Good luck mate

Negotiable, and willing to separate. Kart is back together, all clean and running beautifully (just ask my poor neighbours!)
-
Some diys here say you fill the dif and gbox as much as the filler bolts allow. Also that its 4_4.5L for the engine. Not sure what the difference is tho, mine always ran fine and never saw an oil light. Just thought it worth mentioning, theres so much questionable info out there lol. The most important thing is that the car runs safely

Would You Attend A Show Just To See A Koenigsegg
Galois replied to DANSR33's topic in New South Wales
the question is a little ambiguous. Eg: is the show good? I'd like to see it but wouldnt sacrifice much time for it -
Still on sale peoples

Hopefully... Sligjt mis quote, not that I wad really quoting, it was the deputy boss of mercedes. He was saying its not high speed, its the wrong speed. he also said that driving fast in good conditions never caused an accident on autobahns. I can see tne other side of the arguement tho, we need nore driver education on safety. I regularly drive between sydney and newcastle, and I would not want some of those shitboxes doing 140, my 34 could do it safely with no trouble, my magna probably could too, but my shitty old camry sure couldnt (my first car), and it would have been desperately unsafe to drive like that
-
Safety should be the only concern, a burnout in an abandoned area is harmless, but on a little street could really hurt someone. Noone wants all 50 zones to be changed to 80 zones, bur everyone wants higher motorway speeds. Speed is rarely a killer, its driving unsafely given the surroundings. Clarkson said once speed has never killed anyone, it was suddenly coming to a stop that does. He was kidding, but theres some truth to it, drive safely in the environment you're in; make sure you can stop. The german transport minister once said that speed limits allow people to become neglectful of safety, and that thete has never been a death on the autobarns due to excessive speed
