  1. I think he's referring to street tyres which it definitely runs on.
  2. The rules don't change in the interests of the fans - what kind of crap is that? Adrian
  3. Mate that was GOLD! I can't hear the crowd, the announcers are muffled, the car is quiet, i'm rolling towards the burnout box, concentrating and looking at Stuie who is guiding me in, when all I can hear CLEAR AS DAY is Brett screaming, "RIIIIICCCEEERRRR!!!!!" at the top of his lungs and seeing Stuie doubled over in fits of laughter!! Great stuff - bloody hilarious!
  4. Perhaps inexperience was at play a little bit here - however the starter takes this into account. There's no way in the world the starter clicked his timer the second Daniel went into stage. From the moment he starts the timer, the opponent has 10 seconds to go into full stage. In this case over 20 seconds elapsed before the tree fell. Really it's called courtesy staging and I agree that more people should take note of the concept. It's only ever really policed by the starter and this is why it is their perogative as to when they start the stopwatch to count out the time remaining and noone else's. Tail-gaiting down the return road and chucking tanty's in front of the crowd is worse for drag racing and less sportsmanlike than going into stage a little bit early. On to next year! Adrian
  5. Bigger cams needed apply within!
  6. I'm in!
  7. Just on the Daniel vs. Theo incident Daniel did his burnout like he always does - short, sharp then rolls into stage. Theo has a slightly longer staging routine - fair enough. The starter is king in these situations and despite commonly held misconceptions, doesn't immediately start the timer when racer #1 goes into stage. In fact, the starter is the fairness police on the line and will only start the stopwatch when he feels racer #2 has had adequate and fair time to stage. Many people refer to this as "The 20 Second Rule". 20.3 seconds after the starter started his stopwatch he released the tree with only Daniel in stage. Theo red-lit because of this and the race was automatically called in Daniel's favour. Those of us that read the rule book and stay on top of changes within the sport would know the following: "The following changes were made by the ANDRA NCC at their February and April meetings. ANDRA Competition Regulations: Effective 1/3/2006, the ANDRA Rule Book and any appendices or amendments endorsed by ANDRA will be referred to collectively as the ANDRA Competition Regulations (ACR). The Starter in his or her sole and absolute discretion shall allow a reasonable amount of time for Competitors to pre-stage and initiate the full staging process. Failure to pre-stage or stage upon the Starter’s instructions is possible grounds for disqualification. If a Competitor has failed to stage within ten seconds of his or her opponent being permitted to do so, then that Competitor may be adjudged to be “sandbagging”, and the Starter may initiate the starting sequence, at his/her discretion. The non-staged competitor is disqualified, and no further penalty shall be exacted." Basically, the starter gave Daniel's opponent a 'reasonable' amount of time to stage and ONLY THEN started his timer. After 10 seconds he could of released the tree but instead waited more than double the allowed time to get both cars into full stage. Them's the brakes.
  8. According to one of the CRD crew the 11.2 was really a 10.2 cos he left a second after the light went green! HAHAHA!!
  9. 7.0xx @ 19x.xx - Not very specific but according to the crew they had dramas and were running high 7's for the remainder. Adrian
  10. Can the rest of you hurry the fcuk up and pay please?
  11. I had a great day - the sportsmanship shown by almost all racers was great and the breakage in the semi was the only low-light. Chris Diggles and I go way back - I'm sure he had the Arnie impersonations pumping on the commentary. Daniel (green Bezerkly car) ran 11.80 @ 121 mph on his first qualifier but the clutch (that I helped fcuk the week before) gave up so he could only run 16psi, changing at 5500rpm. Went on to a 12.180 on a 12.200 dial. Not bad for a guy with less than 20 passes under his belt. Theo's car was awesome on the pass I saw. I was two cars back waiting to be called forward when he went 9.0 @ 156 (I think) - sounded very very strong and the crew all cheered so they must've been happy. Hard luck to the mighty TWO06L but when it comes back, oh man! Bigger, Stronger, Faster! Can't wait for next season. Adrian
  12. The little orange rotary won S/RWD. I exploded another right-hand CV in the semis (and red-lit anyway) That's racing. Daniel Beer (RNMENC) has discovered that he likes drag racing and went out in the semis to Shane Crichton's Cressida (eventual runner-up) with a 12.180 breakout on a 12.200 dial-in. Great day, dissapointed that I had to be towed home. We had spare shafts but it was getting dark and cold 2RISMO is now safely tucked up in bed at Bezerkly. Track was very good and the car was pretty consistent; the runs were like this: 1st pass: 1.826 60ft 5.042 330ft 7.669 @ 91.37mph 660ft 9.925 1000ft 11.800 @ 120.02mph 2nd pass: 1.700 60ft 4.907 330ft 7.521 @ 93.03mph 660ft 9.777 1000ft 11.662 @ 118.34mph 3rd pass: 1.705 60ft 4.909 330ft 7.533 @ 94.01mph 660ft 9.789 1000ft 11.669 @ 119.78mph 4th pass: 1.698 60ft 4.909 330ft 7.541 @ 93.86mph 660ft 9.806 1000ft 12.030 @ 86.58mph - (on the brakes in eliminations) 5th pass: BANG! (11.662 and 120.02mph are both pb's though.) Car is incredibly consistent in the 60' and to half track - 330ft times within 2 thousandths and picking up 26mph (28mph+ on the first run) from half track. I think I got a handle on how to get it consistent just in time to get a handle on how may passes I get out of a pair of shafts! HUGE thanks to Stuart and the boys from Bezerkly Automotive in Wollongong, Daniel Beer, Taryn and Brett for the kind words of encouragement from the grand-stand. Adrian
