  1. Obviously it didn't work. If you're not going to pay attention I wont bother. It seems the user that posted "they explode" doesn't feel the need to get defensive over my post. Maybe you should follow his lead. EDIT: Bunta, sounds good champ!
  2. I'll break this down into point form for you so it's easier to understand: FACT: - Not all Jim Berry clutches use remanufactured pressure plates - A very tiny percentage of Jim's clutches have had failures - Most of these failures have been as a result of other factors (flywheels letting go etc) OR improperly spec'd clutches due to customer supplying incorrect information - Jim is one of the easiest guys to work with and actually has an interest in fixing any problems as they arrive FICTION: - All Jim Berry clutches explode - All Jim Berry clutches use remanufactured pressure plates - All Jim Berry clutches are inferior to other brands - Jim Berry clutches are unsuitable for use with standard flywheels - "They can't handle xxx horsepower" ============================================ The issue is with general statements that appear (to normal thinking human beings who walk upright and can walk AND chew gum) to apply to all Jim Berry clutches. It is unfair, incorrect and potentially libelous to suggest that the failures mentioned apply like this. See? It's simple.
  3. That's fine but you don't have to post this thread more than once.
  4. True. But I'd rather have a taxi driver's motor than a taxi driver's fat arse. And I've beaten plenty of other cars with big horsepower before - even with my tiny turbz. LOL!
  5. I'd suggest you leave it in RWD to even things up but then you can always be relied upon to go to pieces when the chips are down. You'll prob do that anyway. Smack it up, bitch!
  6. That's how it looked to me.
  7. It wasn't just the knuckledraggers booing. But it seems you couldn't hear me behind the camera! :) Oh, you're gonna have to get around me to claim your trophy dude.
  8. I have some for sale in the for sale section on this forum if you're keen. Will ship no dramas.
  9. Sorry, penny dropped (once you spelled it out for me anyway). Yes, yes he is!
  10. That's nothing to do with the import sentiment. It just doesn't exist at this event. And just in case someone brings up the autostyle issue, Dom was beaten fair and square by a faster car and would have been time and time again.
  11. It's next on my list dude. I've ripped gearsticks out before!!
  12. There is a cubic shitload of imports at PC events and there is NONE of the attitude you get at Summernats. None!!
  13. Well I reckon he's completely full of shit then.
  14. And they call ME the filthy ricer Pauly!!!
  15. Steering is for little girly men who wish they could hold onto real horsepower.
  16. www.powercruise.net guys n girls
  17. Yep. That's what I would've thought. But here's the thing, dude. It doesn't matter what's caused it, if it has detonated its ring out then there's sweet f**k all you can do.
  18. Ok kewl. Cos Doom has always been FPS hasn't it?
  19. Just spoke to my engine builder about another matter and mentioned your situation. Whether or not detonation/lean mixtures caused the problem, for your engine builder to claim that they did there needs to be clear and irrefutable evidence of same. If there isn't any evidence of this then it's a cop-out and they're full of shit. If there is evidence of it then you haven't got a leg to stand on.
  20. 3rd person shooter? Really?
  21. If it was lean mixtures and detonation there will almost certainly be other stigmata present. It's wrong to speculate until you have someone with a clue look at it.
  22. Engine mounts look like DE
  23. Just to clarify, all I'm talking about is the fact that blanket statements can't be used to give advice on this subject the way they have been.
  24. Horse shit. He absolutely does not re-use the std plates for appropriately specified clutch assemblies. If it was spec'd for the task at hand then it wouldn't have used a stock pressure plate and wouldn't have let go. Sounds like someone wasn't clear with what they were doing with the clutch. Even so, freak accidents happen that are out of someone like Jim's control such as manufacturing abnormalities but no more here than for any other manufacturer. Generic statements like the one above and the first comment made in an earlier post that implies all of these clutches explode are damaging to Jim's business and whether or not they are without basis is beside the point. It is abundantly clear from the sheer weight of numbers of people happy with their Race Clutch that they're a good thing almost all of the time. If anyone needs further clarification, I suggest they call every clutch manufacturer they can get a hold of and ask them if they've ever had a failure. If you find one that says they haven't then I'll eat my words.
  25. Most tuners I've seen will set the base pressure to 45psi (no vacuum) but let them do this on the dyno when you tune it.
