  1. No-one actually races shitty little gtst's do they?
  2. Will they fit a 1990 Mazda 323 ??
  3. DISCLAIMER: The following was blatantly copied and pasted from Performanceforums.com and could be complete and utter bullsh1t. 6. Hehee... Don't know mate. I smile whenever a car thief gets nabbed.
  7. I understand that the Evo 7 has been recovered and that a 3 month investigation has lead to the arrest of at least one man in a re-birthing racket. Needs confirming but I'd be happy to hear that this was the case.
  8. Have seen this car around the gong on numerous occasions and it always looks the goods.
  9. That'll buff right out!

Jesus H Christ - is the frigging MoTeC website that farking hard to go to?

I can use Wikipedia as well champ. I suggest you look into MON (Motor <sic> Octane Number) and RON (Research Octane Number) and you'll probably see what I mean.

They might be the same octane rating but they don't share the same octane numbers. Apart from different burn rates, and the fact that Avgas contains TEL, the differences are vast. I again refer to MoTeC's testing on an engine dyno which suggests that V-Power Racing performed better than Avgas in every situation. The fact that the engine used was a 4G63 from an EVO IX only strengthens the argument that what they found applies to Skyline motors. They ARE completely different products.
  13. I'm yet to see an exedy clutch that is capable of destroying a factory flywheel at any power level.

Avgas is not Shell V Power Racing. They are completely separate animals. If your car is tuned properly, don't worry about it.

Octane isn't the only measure of a fuel when you're after some protection for a track day. Some of the very high octane unleaded fuels will burn very rapidly compared to pump fuel and could result in a lean AFR. Motec's website has some very interesting fuel test data comparing avgas and v-power racing from shell.
  16. Wind just started to hit the gong
  17. The brackets are only on the rear but believe me, it takes a seriously powered GTR to fry the fronts on the dyno in this situation. Your car has its own profile in the system before you race which incorporates the weight of the vehicle, the drag coefficient (based on the front windscreen angle) etc which all plays into the math for the simulation.
  18. Wheel angle sensing lasers point at the front wheels - just the same as the RWD or FWD setup.
  19. You make me cry.... hheheh...
  20. Drag Tag haven't advertised in Extreme for many months. If it wasn't good fun and if it didn't have huge potential, I wouldn't say it did. Jase, when have you known me to bight my tongue if I thought something was a shit-house idea? I got to have a few goes at the drag racing and circuit racing concept on a visit to Melbourne to cover a car show event and shoot a couple of cars for work. We neither reported on our experiences in the magazine or ran any advertising for them because of it. It's just a good thing to get in to, especially in a state as starved for racing as VIC.

  22. 1/ Ummm.....granted. Damnit! 2/ What the? Absolutely no vested interest in it at all. I'm simply speaking from the perspective of someone that has done it numerous times and has more of an insight into the idea than someone guessing or theorising about what it's probably like. Same thing that normally happens to GTR's. BANG!!! You can do it though, BB and it will get you off the line much harder than driving off the line. Just like reallife. Brackets are fitted to your car and operator guided hooks grab these brackets and pull your car down onto the dyno with 8bar of pneumatic pressure. Bear in mind that it is a simulator and not a replacement for the real thing. It was created primarily as a driver training resource but the racing side of it has taken off as well. The computing power and super-nurdz behind it boggle the mind with their talents. Adrian
  23. Links, I didn't drive my car to Melbourne to race at Drag Tag I used one of their 32 GTST's and the PWR blown 6L Crewman. The times are very accurate to real life with that 10.1 second blown Chev running within hundredths of his usual quarter mile ET. It's an awesome concept and well worth checking out. If you want to go for a look and get behind the scenes, email me at [email protected] and I'll arrange it.
  24. I've been using the ROAM etag for ages now. Mostly on the M7 on the way to WSID which is at least once a week. Automatic top up direct debit type deal. It's all a tax thing for me anyway and the time and lights it cuts out outweighs my resentment of the state govt not doing it in the first place.
