  1. I use the Greddy MX in mild steel which works a treat.
  2. Here is THE reason the GTHO got the silly money and prestige/ image that it has today - IT WAS SOMETHING YOU COULD BUY FROM THE DEALER, DRIVE TO THE TRACK AND BE IN THE THICK OF IT... in short, it was a hero car fondly remembered by the baby boomers with plently of money looking to reclaim a part of that nostalga... something that can't be said of todays ford/ holdens - they will never be that valued - end of arguement. as for the 2 cars, give me the GTR over the holden anyday. build quality, design and vision are light years ahead. (bring on the booner replies...)
  3. good getting the feedback, glad you are happy with the results
  4. Looks nice and tidy Theo I was walking past after parking - my GTR is next to a supra there today.
  5. yes, a FPR (fuel pressure regulator) is legal, there is a stock one at the front of your fuel rail. using an A/M adj one allows you to increase the base pressure. this can of course show deficiencies with your current pump as you are asking it to work harder. the benefit is it supplies greater pressure to the injectors. usually the stock one is sufficient for your power goal, but I have a nismo one sitting around if you really want one oh - most of them work with the stock rail
  6. Most competent mechanics will be able to test pump rail pressure. I saw a few reports of early life failure in the catco/xforce cats (search will show what brand and when) but they seemed pretty average to me. i chose HKS due to CPI count and design, but yes - not cheap! Interestingly, the exhaust I had made locally (with mandrel bends) is a LOT less power productive than the jap (unbranded) catback. both only have 1 straight through muffler with 1/2 inch difference in size... odd. I will be putting this back on when I get time!
  7. Brandon I like your idea of keeping it original. what I would be doing is checking your fuel rail pressure to ascertain the health of the fuel pump 1st - don't want that letting you down. Can I ask why you want to put a cheap cat in? I know it's attractive to pay less, but the old addage: the joy of a cheap price is quickly lost when quality fails, certainly applies. I coughed up the additional $ and got a HKS cat (not saying you should, but I've seen a few failure reports on catco/ xforce + they are not ADR compliant - I checked for my area). I'd agree with others when they say that 300 is doable. mine only has 2530's, decent exhaust/ induction and makes just shy of that on 18psi. Stock inj/ AFM - but with nismo pump and tweaked ECU. I bought inj's, PFC, Z32's Poncams etc, but am satisfied with the power it makes without them... good luck with it
  8. as mentioned by someone above, I also I use and recommend the Toyo T1R(S). I have a set of the T1S (now discontinued) and they are great tyres. I payed about $300 a tyre (5 years ago and they are still like new - because they have only done 6000km LOL). would use them again, fitted toyos to my wifes car which only used to run on top end bridgestone (far better tyre IMO)
  9. clean Maroon R33 series 2 wearing P plates, front mount and Trojan sticker on the rear quarter window driving near Reid CIT this morning
  10. I see the blue one quite a bit in civic around that location. aggressive looking car I really must dust off my 32 and drive it more! (plus get to know more of you guys, given I've had it more than 5 years.... busy life and kids!)
  11. spotted a nice darkblue R32 GTS4(?) with GTR front and what must be an RB26 near the convention centre - sounded great and looks hot too actually spotted another 2 R32 4 doors that looked nice that day, one white and the other silver.
  12. can you get the internal hex drive ones (with smooth outer body?)
  13. drove past the place I mentioned earlier - they are Gloss Refinishers Queanbeyan (just about opposite the Roos club on Canberra ave)
  14. spotted this about 8:30 driving past the airport - Silver R32 GTR with what looked like CE28's - looked and sounded nice. Good thing I didn't get CE28's for mine
  15. I had some work done at **REMOVED, PM FOR NAME** - don't go there, unless you like to see the sanding lines in the paint. one place that I want to try is located just down from Wholesale sleeper co in Queanbeyan. Can't remember the name ATM, but they are visble from Canberra ave heading to fyshwick (on the corner with Kealman?) the cars always look good. shoot me a PM if you don't haev any luck as I have a mate that is a panel beater (now public servant!) who may be interested.
  16. LOL - suspension work...
  17. spotted on Friday arvo an R32 being driven up the hill out of Queanbeyan (otherwise known as the suspension test track - wink wink), then turning around at the intersection of captains flat rd, giving it the bottle and hitting the limiter - not pretty... (yes, i know who was driving) i suspect mine got the same when it was in... rev limit for my GTR next time it is there...
  18. check your timing/ CAS/ Timing belt. AFM's generally go into limp mode about 3000rpm.
  19. hi I have both the HKS and Cusco hard pipe kits - PM me if you are interrested. much better than just jap ones. Cheers
  20. thanks guys, I will definitely check them out.
  21. where are everyone geting their M35's from? I imoported my GTR years ago, but my wife won't be keen for that process again... I am specifically looking for an AR-X as it has better ground clearance, but can't find many for sale at a realistic price. any ideas please?
  22. about 8:30am today sotted a Silver AR-X M35 stagea going through the lights at monaro hwy/ pialligo ave towards fyshwick. anyone here? if so, can you PM me as I want to ask you some questions about them Cheers Dan
  23. Hi Guys I'm looking at the m35 as an alternative to the XC70. Want a bigger family car that can also to a horse float with a warmblood (big horse). XC70 is rated to tow 1800kg - any offical figure for the M35? Also, noted in the exhaust section the upgrades mentioned, but no mention of performance increase/ sound? Can the I/C be easily swapped for a GTR one (have one sitting around off my GTR)? anyone done it? In terms of performance, what is required and how do they respond to mods (nothing over the top - have the GTR for that)? Cheers Dan
  24. +2 for bent valves (piston/ valve contact). bore scope will be able to show contact with piston crowns if this is the case.
  25. LOL - you will be hard pressed to find genuine new or low KM HKS GT2530's. Mine were not cheap!
