  1. thanks guys... you would think things like this would be simple but it gets confusing when everyone who walks into the garage has to give their 2 cents...I tell my mechanic something and then he rings me back 2 hours later and says "oh dunno about those guys, or this or that" I'm like WTF...Why did you ask me to source the parts then if your not going to fu*#in listen to me... they know a lot about engines but f#@k all about doing business *end rant* I really envy those of you who have the time and expertise to work on your cars yourself
  2. thanks guys... anyone else? The thing that is worrying me is that I got a quote via email, took note of the part numbers etc, gave the details to my engine builder and he rang to place the order... But the price they quoted him was a few hundred dollars more expensive...wtf (and he would be getting wholesale prices?) Am I just being paranoid?
  3. hey guys, quick question... Just about to order from Rocket and heard a horror story...(I won't go into it on here) and now I'm thinking twice... maybe just a fanciful story but it sounded really bad... If anyone has any positive feedback on these guys please post it here... any negative comments please pm me... Thanks in advance Nick
  4. sounds good... funny, I used to hang out for skate parks to pop up in my area... now I am waiting for a drift track...
  5. hmm not sure... The rings will be whatever comes with the Arias pistons.. I have to plead ignorance when it comes to engine internals, this would be my first blown motor:(
  6. mine too:):)
  7. just emailed Rocket and they got back to me in like 5 mins... Arias pistons+rings for a smidge over $1050+gst... sounds like a good price to me... I thought they would be around $1500
  8. yep...spun a bottom end bearing...
  9. Hi guys, Just wanted to know where to get some good forged pistons + rings and if anyone can put me in touch with trusted parts dealers. I don't mind if there interstate but don't want to get them from overseas as time is a factor. Also they need to be 0.5mm oversize...(is that a 20thou overbore? I am not sure of the conversion) Thanks :Pimp2:
  10. hahaha... my car has been off the road for a few weeks and I feel really sorry for my mums little 318is... I shove the pedal to the floor and am like WTF... and its auto so my left foot feels stupid just chillin out...
  11. lol... yeah one day... just have to get the rest of it right before I started upping the power... after all I destroyed the motor with the stock turbo so I'm doing everything properly this time... When I do upgrade it will be something like the HKS 25xx range... it is a daily driven car so I don't want obscene power... somewhere around the 250rwkw would be nice... and a nice strong power curve, plenty of response, reliable etc blah blah you have heard it all before... I am not out to win dyno comps or run 10sec 1/4 miles, but I would love to get out on the track... was almost there when the motor went...
  12. pistons, rod bolts, machining of crank, reco of head, cams, tuning + running in, maybe a cylinder bore, maybe GTR rods...the list goes on and on... oh and the clutch that I replaced like 6 months ago is apparently fubar, it has blistering and heat damage, and the flywheel needs machining:( and after all this my car will still be runnning the stock turbo...so I don't think a metal headgasket fits within my budget... the cams however will help performance...so there in;)
  13. Thanks mate, will save the cash and spend it on other goodies...
  14. I had a very similar accident a couple of months ago... It was a sobering experience... I had never had an accident before and was totally caught off guard when the bum stepped out at about 50-60km/h... I fought it all the way managing to keep it out of the trees and away from the brick wall, but ended up backwards through a barbed wire fence, no major dents but... barbed wire + paint = $

    Judge Wardest

amen... how the hell are gay people supposed to spot each other and do whatever the f(ck they do if there is a bunch of straight dudes running round looking like homos all because their girlfriend dressed them...
  16. I spotted . . . me . . . driving badly . . . so I went to the police station to have myself arrested . . . but they didn't believe me . . . so I drove home in reverse and pretended it never happened . . .
  17. ^^ words from the older and wiser... couldn't agree more
  18. guys please drive really carefully when its wet... Its just not funny how hairy a Skyline can be in the wet... even if you are a really skillful, experienced driver...of any age...driving a Skyline requires more concentration and maturity than driving a Toyota Corolla...and that is just a fact... a run of the mill type of car is much more forgiving when you make a mistake... make a mistake in a Skyline and it will bend you over and reem you like there is no tomorrow... PLEASE DRIVE CAREFULLY... nobody deserves to die for being young and stupid...
  19. Hey Inasnt, I got a quote for the Tomei metal head gasket as well as the cams...just wanted to know... 1. is it worth the money when I'm only running 200rwkw 2. which thickness is best for my power level thanks
  20. on the good side of $1000...not by much tho...
  21. i am really glad I drove a slow ass tank for my P plater years before I bought the skyline...I used to do lots of stupid sh!t and somehow never had an accident! Driving performance cars is dangerous enough... Throw in inexperience, a dash of adrenalin, some male pride and a handful of stupidity and you have a very dangerous situation... P platers should not be driving powerful cars, they are scary enough in hatchbacks... Even you can get away with it... WTF are the parents doing letting their kid drive a hi po car!!! To all P platers driving cars that exceed the power/weight ratio... Doesn't it void your insurance policy if you have an accident??? Worse case scenario> you survive but you kill your best mates, write off your car, get a criminal record and get banned from driving for life... its just not worth it...
  22. so... sell the RB26...and replace it with an SR...no need to get rid of the WHOLE car...lol
  23. I have to say at the moment my gf causes me much less stress than my car... at least when my car is off the road my gf drives me round...(doesn't work in reverse)...when my gf is away my car won't...well...um...never mind;)
  24. just looking at the prices for pistons, rods, cams etc and I can see why an SR20 powered car would be a easier on the hip pocket than an RB26...you could rebuild 3 SR's for the price of rebuilding an RB26!!!
