  1. oh but you won't have an accident will you... nooooo... everyone drives responsibly on there p's hey... if I had a Skyline on my P's I would be f**kin dead! and what do you guys do for jobs? how in the hell can you afford $2900 a year... thats $55 a week on insurance alone! and then count in excess if you have an accident, thats like $4500... so you have to have an accident that does more than $4500 damage to make it worthwhile claiming and then they might not even pay up cos your over the power to weight limit! nice car btw, you did well for that price... don't let me see you on the news or you better pray you don't survive the crash... be smart, lay low, don't get sucked into showing off to your mates... they didn't pay for the car you did... think of all the blood and sweat you put into it before you try and drift that corner to impress some skank...
  2. I get so sick of the Aust governments closed minded attitude... governments all over the world face the same problems everyday and we refuse to look at others for inspiration! and I am against large arterial highways being built everywhere... it is a common fact that widening roads and building more highways INCREASES traffic and pollution... just look at some of the messes in America! (esp california!) people in general just don't care anymore, we get upset for like 2 weeks, Johnny says "yes we will look into it, we will do something about it etc etc" and then it is forgotten... they treat us like idiots and we let them... it will never be right to replace police with privatised cameras, it sets a dangerous precedent... (anyone here read george orwell's 1984?)
  3. this is the truth right here... the government gives creative accounting a new meaning... the recent hike in petrol prices and the state governments 'unexpected windfall' in speeding fines are way over what would be considered a normal rate of inflation... so where does the money go? damn right it should go back into the roads! With the amont of money spent on rego, petrol, fines etc I better not see a single pothole! in fact it should feel like I am driving on a rainbow, all colourful, with the pot of gold and all :headspin:
  4. I was just told to stay off boost for the 1st 500km (under 3000rpm) and ensure that I warmed the car up properly, without letting it sit and idle... ie I would just sit there for a few minutes and idle it while varying the revs up to about 1500rpm or so... If I drove it dead cold it was a little rattly... after 500km I changed oil... after 1,000km I changed it again and drove away on holiday to batemans bay in NSW (9hr drive) and dynoed it when I got back and it has been silky smooth ever since... I guess it depends on how modified your motor is, if it is anything like Ash's or SK's and not much is stock I would throw it on the dyno sooner rather than later but mine is running the stock ecu so I just ran it in by driving... so yeah everyone has pretty much said it all already... its all up to the guy who paid for it and the guy who built it!
  5. yeah its something you have to worry more about in na cars, you may as well just pull the next gear in a turbo and use the torque, as long as your still at full boost and your not granny shifting... I read an interview with fred gibson on this topic and he believed there wasn't much point in revving the guts out of a turbo, better to just grab the next gear...
  6. swap it for a stock ecu, see if the problem goes away
  7. rocketindustries.com.au was where I got my pistons... (great price and service) cams from nengun.com (great price but delivery was very delayed) everything else, water pump, bearings, timing belt, gaskets etc was all from Nissan but I can't remeber which one... I think it was Blackburn
  8. try and source the parts yourself... GTR rods often appear in the for sale section of this site... should set you back about $400
  9. you probably don't need to spend that much on a headgasket... imo and you could probably save a couple of hundred on the pistons by going Arias or Venolia stock rods will be fine for 250rwkw other than that it sounds about right, good luck with it btw what happened to the old engine?
  10. yeah the old dyno run was after it got here from Japan and I had exhaust etc installed... was running a bit lean back then;) it needed a rebuild 12 months later:( 1666rwkw is totally believable... stock injectors too
  11. hey Bass here are some dyno graphs for you to have a squizz at... the first one is before the rebuild, so only difference is its pre pistons and cams... same boost/tune etc... it also is in shootout mode and done by the looks of it in 4th gear the second one is with cams and pistons... 3rd gear... and NOT in shootout mode... the tuner has also retarded the timing a bit as the stock cooler is...well...ghey as you can see the second graph goes pretty straight all the way to redline, where as the 1st graph has a big dip and tapers off at the top end... the cams don't totally do away with the dip but I think this will go away when I bin the stock ecu / SAFC combo
  12. have you guys seen petrol prices... lol
  13. mine took months to get here...thats why they were not included in the rebuild got the car back today will post dyno chart tomorrow... tuner didn't do a before and after as I had requested, so you will have to compare with one of my old dyno charts... sorry about that to anyone who was interested aaaanyway the seat of the pants review goes like this: I instantly noticed the improved response, not just on boost but pretty much everywhere in the rev range... didn't really gain anything in the peak power department as I still have stock cooler so the timing is fairly conservative... it also definately revs quicker (almost caught me out a couple of times as I had to scramble for the next gear:) and the top end feels less restricted... I was impressed with how quiet they are as well, you cannot tell that it has aftermarket cams at idle... overall I am pretty impressed, it just feels as though it wants to rev!
  14. not trying to highjack your thread bass;) my car has just had the 256 Tomei poncams for R33 RB25 installed and will be tuned tomorrow... car is running stock turbo, ecu, and cooler, but has just been rebuilt with forgies etc... not expecting any major gains was just sick of looking at them sitting on my floor! (they were delayed getting here from Japan and I had the motor was back in the car by the time they arrived) I am hoping the cams will have more and more of an effect as I increase the amount of air being forced into the motor as I modify it more... my eventual aim is a super tough and responsive motor somewhere between 250 - 300 rwkw ...one day I will post before and after dyno results tomorrow... I am assuming the result would not be dramitically different to a NEO RB25 so it may shed some light on your plans bass
  15. the guy who built my engine said that Arias made some of the best pistons he had ever seen... one thing to note tho... the clearances listed on the instructions maybe a little big, you may want to run a slightly smaller clearance... ie mine were done to the specs on the sheet and it is pretty noisy on cold start up etc but I agree with the comments here... just pick a tried and tested brand and you can't go wrong
  16. great thanks guys... These were recommended to me at my local tyre shop and I wanted some second opinions... he didn't mention they were discontinued so they may be trying to get rid of the old stock, which doesn't really bother me as I'm getting a decent price... most tyres will be better than the bald federals I have at the moment;)
  17. Hi guys, just wanting anyone who has run these tyres on their car to give me a quick review...? if you have run other Yokohama brand tyres please feel free to comment
  18. This may be a silly question... but have you seen Black Books?
  19. I'll be down if we can get one more! ...don't die on us damnit... breathe...get the paddles... clear!
  20. Allblitz I am available to pick mine up whenever suits... just let me know:)
  21. I think people say that because of the extra costs involved not included in the engine swap... your also looking at brakes, wheel hubs, gearbox, diff etc but I agree that its worth the effort if you have already invested a lot of time in the car and the body/chassis is in good condition and you have a sentimental attachment to the car... selling your car and buying another can sometimes be a long and expensive ordeal... anyway car looks mint :aroused:
  22. the VQ is a shorter motor than the RB allowing room for the V layout cooler/radiator? that would be my guess anyhow... Nagata san has to come down to Melbourne to do 300km/h on citylink... I can just see him flying past an etag station... *video game voiceover* TIME EXTENDED! that would really shove the pole further up brack's a$s :kick:
  23. um...are they pulling out to overtake, or just getting a better angle... either way thats a damn nice car! I may go out on a limb here and say that I would prefer a hard top over the convertible, I always find the soft top wrecks the cool roof lines of a coupe... examples would be the 350Z, 911, etc
  24. ditto^^
