  1. my girlfriends dad is a mechanic with his own business, we always joke that I'm using her to get close to her father! lol... *whispering* so far it has worked a treat...
  2. stay away from that car... it will end up costing a whole load more than $29,000!
  3. sorry just read your last post, if it is happening on low boost as well its probably not overboost protection... I still would point the finger at your unichip, sounds like a possible tuning issue... I am no expert, but have had similar problems in the past... good luck:)
  4. at 1 bar your ecu will be freaking out, retarding the timing and fuel etc to protect the motor from overboost... this may feel like 'surging' and will be worse on cold nights etc... just turn the boost down to about .8bar and this should help... if the problem persists see your mechanic
  5. The ad break after 3 laps made me suicidal... and half of it was to plug sh!tful channel 10 shows I don't ever intend to watch... and Nicholas Cage is a tool in a stupid hat... on a lighter note well done to Fisichella(sp)... was a good race and Coulthard's pass on Webber at the first corner is one of the best I have ever seen!
  6. I had mine rebuilt with oversize Arias forgies, new bearings etc, honed, crank cleaned up (it was scored)... basically a complete recondition, with new water pump, whole lot got a fresh coat of paint etc etc... minus the in/out labour it cost it was about $4,000... plus if you can help out with the labour or can get mates rates on removing and stripping the engine I can't see why for $6,000 you can't get a drive in, drive out package... and a totally fresh forged engine! If you are clever about it you might even be able to squeeze some cams into your budget;)
  7. cool... if Al gives it the all clear I am down for 1 please...
  8. he he... I don't know.. I destroyed my motor and when I had it rebuilt the problem had gone... when we pulled the motor out we discovered the thermostat was dead so we replaced it... I believe it was the thermostat causing my problem but as you have replaced yours I don't think it would be that...??? sorry I can't be more help cheers Nick
  9. Mine was doing the same thing when cold because the ecu thought the car hadn't warmed up yet so was pulling heaps of timing out... it sucked... would come good the exact same place on the way to and from work... weird
  10. Have you checked the thermostat?
  11. maybe a bearing in one of your pulleys is on its way out... get it checked out cos if it is the crank pulley bearing and it lets go... you could have some trouble
  12. aww you guys scared him away... must have a B&S ball to go to...
  13. COOL...it looks like a taxi! and its red cos red cars go faster...and Cold Chisel ROCK... :headshot:
  14. I was not implying that you don't get laid cos you drive a Holden... I was implying you don't get laid because your a sad bogan...A little word of advice, generally chicks see I shiny new car or a dirty old one and couldn't tell the difference between an Ferrari and a Corolla... except of course the sad bogan chicks who like V8's... the very same girls who you thought would be impressed when you rocked up in your shiny new HSV, only to discover they don't like boring dickwads who don't have anything else to do but quote performance figures on the internet in a vain hope to start a fight and actually feel like you and your car are important... nobody cares... go away Sheila and your 8 kids are waiting at home...oh and don't forget the slab... :whackit:
  15. you don't get laid very often...do you?
  16. bahahahaha... do it... do it...
  17. great idea... I would love to be able to direct questions at person who I knew to have experience in a particular area... I mean after all my mechanic is only a phone call away but a lot of the time I would like informed second opinions, ideas and other options etc...
  18. thankyou Bec
  19. Can someone please post Racepace's contact details for me?
  20. 1978 Mercedes Benz 280E, with faded paint (except on the panels that had been resprayed to fix accident damage) and rust holes so big if you lifted up the floor mats you could watch the road go by... I tinted the windows and put in stereo etc... I drove it for like a year with a blown head gasket, damn thing just wouldn't die! was an a bit of a pig to drive fast... understeeeeeer... but fun in the wet though!
