if you guys think for a second that a cop is going to beleive the "we all just happened to be driving together at the same time to the same place, but no-one organised it" line, you need to have your heads read. Let alone if there was a formal investigation. Particularly if you have a post on the public internet organising it

well I have never heard of a cruise organiser being sued for what occurred.....even in cases involving fatalities but even so I have never and will never organise something myself...I am not putting my house on the line because someone turns up and acts like an idiot. SAU NSW organises cruises regularly, and under the current CAMS rules there is no cost for the permits - so why not work with the club if you want to organise a cruise?

I do love that place. most of the stuff is chinese cheapy....but hey that's what brings it into my price range. I recently picked up drill press, grinder, sandblaster and parts washer there.

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
Duncan replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers

Big thanks to Gerg and the DF guys for putting this on, I'll be there for sure. This is an amazing chance to find out about your oily roundy roundy bits

Brake Pads Users Ratings Guide
Duncan replied to Snowman's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the most important issue with track pads on the street is the working temperature of the pad. It *must* work fine from cold, there is nothing more embarresing than running up the back of a camry pulling into a roundabout. Especially if you do it in a race car. -
you filthy ricer

there is definately an issue around helmets and paint flamability too...you need a specialist helmet painter. have you considered just treating it as a helmet, and just wearing it?

+1, Gary has helped me out with a number of changes over the years, definately above and beyond. when he moved off the forums regularly there were a lot of other things happening for him including changes around his business, but I beleive he sorted out every issue over the following months, many at his own cost.

Front Strut Bracket Stress Mark And Ripple
Duncan replied to shehris's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
other threads cleaned up. we really need a better pic to comment, the factory sheet metal does have some waves in it, looks like the part was pressed out of sheet steel and you can see where the factory bends them -
as long as the ecu matches the head's sensors, it will be fine. From there modify it like any motor, eg if you make major changes like turbo or injectors you really need a retune. the AFM will look after any additional fuel required due to the extra capacity

Inappropriate off topic comments removed, and posters warned. Glad to hear to occupants were OK, but I hope they weren't doing anything silly to get to that state.....skylines aren't generally top heavy.....

Rear Strute Brace Preload?
Duncan replied to Torques's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Not all braces are adjustable...as far as I know preload is not required in any direction. It just allows for a little more variance in mounting width than the bolt holes do. -
Upper Control Arm Outer Bolt Snapped
Duncan replied to MrStabby's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
furthermore, these control arms have 2 flanges with a lubricated bush between them, and the standard bolt has a long shank. And only 1 nut, on the end. I hope that helps BTW read your sig again, it has good advice -
So....I found a corner of the garage for a sandblasting cabinet (or as Kel called it, "the humidicrib") But despite the name, I guess sand may not be the right thing to put in it. So....I need to do regular car cleaning stuff.... what should I use, and where do I get it?

Upper Control Arm Outer Bolt Snapped
Duncan replied to MrStabby's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
before you blame the bolt, are you sure it never hit anything hard? I'd put another 8.8 grade bolt in, and keep that bush well lubricated. Assuming it's not a custom setup the bolt is in double shear so the actual load on the bolt is not unreasonable - I would have thought the subframe was much more likely to bend or crack. (I said bush, and lubricate, in the same sentence) -
So....i Think My Starter Motor Has Died.
Duncan replied to Pft shh 89's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Yep probably the starter. They have a large solenoid (electric switch) that triggers when you turn the key to start, you should see if it clicks. If you feel brave, pull the starter motor out. Hold it firmly and apply 12v. That will tell you if it is starter motor or some kind of wiring/trigger issue. In the meantime....park on hills -
C34? It should bolt straight in, all the gtr boxes are interchangeable except for clutch (push v pull)

got links Brad? Alex I've got a W&B beam type wrench as well, have had it for years and checked it twice, both times it has still been good - I think the design is more accurate than the more common spring type ones. On the downside it is harder to use quickly than the spring/clicky type, eg for wheel nuts, you need to reset it with the pin each time. Also, it only works clockwise so you can't use it on reverse threads (eg centre lock wheel nuts). There are lots of digitial you beaut ones out there now, not sure if they are any good or not? I can't see how they would stay more accurate over time if they are still spring based
-
I haven't tried that exact swap, but would not expect you need to change cylinders I've run 33 gtr and g4 8 spots on my gtr without any bias issues. I've run 32 gtr and g4 8 spots on my stagea without any bias issues. In the end, it is the total piston area that matters, the 32 and 33 gtr have about the same size pistons, the 8 spots have 8 very small pistons, and the stagea has 1 very large piston. you could always calculate the areas but I think you won't have an issue.

Eastern Creek South - Oct14 (Hsv Club Invitation)
Duncan replied to Pezhead's topic in Events Archive
Of course it's not the full track. Eastern Creek was redeveloped for the express purpose of hiring both halves out seperately to make more money. Very few club, race or commercial events will make the whole track available - when Oran Park had this setup about 10% of their days were full track. This day is only $190. Assuming the full track is around $25k to hire for the day they would need over 130 entrants to cover their costs at that price. Hiring just half the track make good sense for a club, and I hope they fill it. Alternatively, you could pay about $130, or around the same for a day a MDTC or Wakefield - but you need to spend another $100 in fuel to get there and back -
Eastern Creek South - Oct14 (Hsv Club Invitation)
Duncan replied to Pezhead's topic in Events Archive
good on them for a long time the HSV/WRX days had been a closed, members only thing, great to see them inviting other clubs. I reckon anyone interested in trying the new Eastern Creek should get along to this day, it is a damn expensive place to hire so opportunities don't come up often....and to me, supporting a club rather than a for-profit business is the way to go
