  1. Don't need chips representing a PRETEND $2.50 when we play. I'll decided denominations on the day but the standard will prob apply. Might use the white as monkeys (as we don't need PRETEND $1 chips either) and then use the blue for gorillas. We'll do this when I get back from my holiday as I've run out of time to organise it all.
  2. Look what Gamblor just sent me!!! Looks like we won't be playing with toothpicks anymore
  3. A lot of luck is required when gambling as the odds always start against you. No doubt about it, but if you are going to generalise everything the way you have, you obviously haven't taken gambling seriously before. As you have stated, you lose when you go to the casino. That's coz yr trying to double or triple your capital. It's not going to happen all the time. When I did it for 9 months full time (5 days a week, up to 10 hours a day), I only tried to make 20% each time I went in. On a capital layout of $2k, that's $400 a day tax free. Sure, you don't win everyday but most days you come out on top as you have enough capital to ride out the bad hands. Blackjack is only good if you're there for a short period of time. The shoes in general are too unpredictable to make big bets and expect to come out on top. Even counters have trouble with 8 decks especially when they cut the deck at least 1.5 in meaning that at least 76 cards won't be played. Baccarat is defiantely where the money is IMHO. This is known as the Martingale system and works fine in theory. The casino knows this however and hence the reason for table limits. This is why this particular system will never work.
  4. I really don't see anything being organised here. This is a thread mearly finding out what people choose a game of gambling if they choose to do it. It is also simply finding an expression of interest to see who would like to participate in a friendly game of poker at some stage. There is no comment of a venue or time, hence there is no event. Also, it isn't illegal to gamble at a private venue unless there is an exchange of money or goods. What's wrong with playing a game with toothpicks for some fun?
  5. Hey, don't get me wrong. I enjoy hanging out with Vino once in a while. I just don't dig Vino in large doses. Kinda makes me sick...
  6. You could possibly win your diff money mate Vino is more than welcome to come too. Vino's a dirty **** who'll go anywhere!! Don't you diss Gamblor!! I won't have that kind of talk in MY thread!!
  7. We'll have a nice tutorial session before we start playing with money. I suggest we start after lunch and take the first hour to learn the game and then after that we can run our tournement.
  8. No Limit Hold Em is just played with playing chips. All you do is pay an entry fee and play. All players are distributed with x number of playing chips and whoever ends up with the all wins. You don't have to bring $100k with you to have fun, but it does help
  9. I'm gonna setup a no limit Hold Em tourney at my place soon. It's gonna be a fair bit of organising to get the rules set out and getting enough players, tables/chairs and the like. If ppl are genuinely interested, I'll try to make it happen sooner. I'm heading off on holidays at the end of June but will have this game setup when I get back.
  10. I can't see the problem with a $1000 hand as long as you have the capital or winnings to back it up if you lose the hand. My biggest bet to date was $5200 on a banker's hand in baccarat which I won. The biggest losing hand was a $3500 bet on a banker's hand in the same night. Meh, it was all with winnings so I still came out on top. It's not your money till you cash it in. Oh, and just another thing which is quite amusing, I just bought 500 playing chips from eBay!! YAY!! The LeeWah House of Gambling is coming to fruition!!! Who's up for a game?
  11. A smart gambler knows the following 2 things. If they follow these rules, they won't get themselves into trouble IMO. 1. Set a loss limit. Do NOT go in there thinking you'll win. If you do, it'll be the end of you. My rule is not to go to the ATM after I walk in. I will be prepared to lose whatever I walk in with. If I win, it's a bonus, if I lose, it was expected. 2. Set a winning limit. Don't try to make $5k from $100 coz it ain't gonna happen. The best I ever did was make 22k from 2.5k. It took 8 hours and it was painful by the end of it. If you can make 25% on your capital, you're doing well. Walk away and use your winnings for something else. That way, things are still fun and you come out on top.
  12. Progressing on from the "I want to bend over for Benno" thread, it's time to find out people's hobbies besides cars. I used to gamble a fair bit at the casino and I was wondering what others thoughts were out there in regards to gambling. Also, with the influence of television, all the wannabe World Poker champions out there it seems that Texas Hold Em is the new flavour. Pokies give me the absolute sh!ts. I reckon if people wanna play pokies, they may aswell just give their money to me and I'll show them a better time Personally, I used to play a hell of a lot of baccarat and if I was in a rush, I'd play blackjack. As some of you may or may not know, I ended up doing ok for myself playing these games and it got me through 9 months of life until I went back to uni to complete my degree. I even did it while I was at uni (not full time) and made money for my mates at uni. After awhile though, as most jobs do, it got boring and it wasn't as satisfying as earning your own salary/wage, hence I gave up. I'm just curious as to what do you play, what was your capital layout and how'd you end up going with it? Would you do it again?
  13. Do you Ross? How much work have you personally had done by Eric? In fact, how much work have you had Ben done on your car??
  14. Take it to Ice. G and Nige will look after it for you real well
  15. As been mentioned many many times before, take the front shaft out and off you go. Simple as that. 5 mins max on the hoist. Or you can use something like my HKS ETC and it'll cut the ATTESSA from the Cabin.
  16. The good thing bout baccarat is that the cards are set. You cannot influence them in any way once they are put in the shoe. You can't swing it into your favour as the rules dictate how many cards come out. It's the best game in the casino as it's pretty much a 50/50. I believe the actual odds are bout 51.7% in favour of the banker hand, hence they take 5% when the banker wins. Never actually played in a Hold em tourney. May have to go down there and check it out and find out what it's all about. Let's take this topic to another thread shall we? Now, back on topic bout how awesome Big Ass Benno is...
  17. IMHO, baccarat is where the money is followed by BJ under the right conditions. The only other option is to play no limit Hold 'Em but you better be good or you'll be broke very quickly, hence me sticking to 4/8. That is all.
  18. Got rubber?
  19. If you want to get your car done sooner, send it to Ice Performance in Cheltenham. Nige is also a master tuna They should be able to fit you in before the 2 weeks.
  20. Minor mods and 2530s do not equal 220rwkw. On the other hand, it is Qld tuning. Apparently someone got 400+rwkw from stock injectors up there. Must have been highflowed Benno, da man with the Mida's touch Car must feel better with another 50% at the treads.
  21. LOL. Don't trust the Trust.
  22. VL bottom ends are fine as long as they are prepped properly. I beleive the RPMGTR uses a modified VL bottom end. At the end of the day, it is a Nissan item
  23. The torque factor can be seen as both a blessing and a curse. Sure, with the 3.0 you produce huge amounts of torque off the line and the car will continue pulling hard until you take your foot off the loud pedal but at the same time, it adds a large amount of stress on the gearbox and driveline. Generally speaking, from what I've heard, it is 3rd which tends to break in racing. This is due to the fact that 3rd is where most of the power is made. The other factor is also how you change your gears. The Garage Saraus R33 GTR used to run an OS Giken Cross Mission gearset (like my car and the RPMGTR) and ran 1200ps. I'm sure they broke gears but I also know people in AU how have snapped gears in a Hollinger like toothpicks. If you are rough on the gearbox, it will break. On the other hand though, I've known people to break their stock gearbox in a 300rwkw GTR. Treat it like you would like to be treated and it will last. Sure you could replace gears everytime you break them, but at over $1k per gear + labour, it gets expensive after awhile. Don't let me discourage you from doing a 3.0 project. It is a field which is becoming more and more common these days. The results of a properly prepped 3.0 will be great and very rewarding. I chose to go down the path of the 2.6 as I felt that I wanted to keep some aspects of the GTR intact when I raced it. Cheers, Dave.
  24. As you have specified a drag scenario, here is what I've read, seen and experienced. If you take a properly prepped 2.6 and compare it to a properly prepped 3.0 you will find that the 3.0 can actually rev quite high. I've seen them rev out to 9000rpm. My prepped 2.6 revs out to 9500 but we set the limiter to 9000 for safety reasons. The 3.0 will make more torque. There's no doubt about that. Nearly every aspect of the 3.0 is superior to the 2.6 but it will cost a lot more to build a strong 3.0 overall package simply for the fact that the torque created by a 3.0 will break things which a 2.6 won't. My 2.6 runs stock diffs and driveshafts. A big HP 3.0 will snap these things like twigs on a hard launch due to sheer torque. If you look at the RacePace Motorsport 3.0 GTR (owned by RPMGTR on these forums) you'll find that all his driveline are aftermarket or custom built to deal with the torque created by the 3.0 engine. We've launched my car at 8500rpm with 617rwkw and there was no problems on the stock driveline. Doing the same on a 3.0 is a recipe for disaster IMO. If you put the same turbo setup on a 2.6 and a 3.0, you'll find that the 3.0 makes the power a lot easier too. This is simply due to displacement. My turbo put on a 3.0 setup will make the same power as me with less effort. I reckon it'll make the same power as my car bout 1500rpm earlier but that's an educated guess as I haven't had the chance to compare it. The simple answer is look at Kier Wilson and John Munro. Both run the OS Giken 3.0 bottom combined with a custom driveline. Kier has run 8.7 (slicks) in his 3.0 and John ran 9.2 (Nittos). Drawback of the 3.0 setup? Cost. To prepare a 3.0 car including gearbox, clutch, diffs, driveshafts, bottom end prepping and an appropriate turbo setup, I'd say you'll be very light pocketed when yr done. Hope this helps.
  25. K seriously though, I have all the bits except the following: R34 gtr block or n1 -- Mine is a fully prepped RB26 block from a R33GTR 2.7 ltr stroked bottom end or any components there in -- Mine is still 2.6L custom or G ready plenum -- Didn't think it was required straight cut gears for box -- Mine is a street car with an OS Giken cross mission set water injection unit -- Didn't need it short shifter -- Not required Besides that, I have all of it including a fully tuned Autronic SMC with an Autronic CDI for that xtra spark
