  1. After some info bout the US Preidential Cadillac. I hear that it's pretty secret stuff and good ol Google is letting me down. If anyone has info about it or can give me a URL, I'd really appreciate it.
  2. While I'm trying to sell the car, I'm not gonna take any risks with it. I may still run at the NDSOC day but as for power levels, we're not sure what config we'll run. Doing a dyno run for 5 secs is nothing like lauching it off the line and keeping the foot to the floor for 10 seconds.
  3. As I mentioned in the NSW section, congrats to AutoStyle on making the big power. It's not an easy task to get numbers like that. Is that car driven on the street on a regular basis? Nice cage. Has it been stripped too? I read it ran a 10.55. Was that with a full interior and stereo? Fine effort if it was. Looks like we'll be putting the larger nos jets back in. :headspin:
  4. Donny's MyShow S15 doesn't have sponsors as such. I believe 95% of the car has been funded by himself. He does drive a 360 Modena as a daily...
  5. Congrats to AutoStyle!! Not sure bout their car but I've already done a 10.4 in mine with 446rwkw and that was 2 years ago. Not sure if you can call my car a dyno pony... I'll get back out there again if I feel that there's a need to prove my car again to the disbelievers.
  6. You need to get out more Ni
  7. Thanks for the compliments all. Only borrowed the camera from a mate to muck around with. Didn't really touch any of the settings. Love using SLRs With a bit more practice, I hope to get better at it. May have to spend more time with Greg and Joel
  8. Oooops. My bad Gotta get out of the Tardis one of these days...
  9. Thanks for organising the cruise Ash. Job well done (except for the dirt road ) Hope everyone had fun. Thanks for coming. Golgo, photos have been emailed to you for hosting.
  10. If this is your first time out, keep it simple. Don't worry about things like impressing the crowd wih a massive smokey burnout. If you stuff it, you'll look like a tosser. Trust me on that one As for suspension, 0 camber is good as you get the most surface area on the tarmac. It should be as soft as possible (without being stupid) on the rear as weight transfer on the launch will mean the car will squat and lay a bigger surface area of rubber on the tacmac resulting in better traction. Tyre pressure also will make a big difference. Drop the tyre pressures to make the side wall softer and allow more squat when you launch the car. When you are lined up in the queue, mentally picture what you want to do. Picture the right rev range you want to launch at. Your ideal rev range will depend on the power , setup and tyres of the car. Generally, stiff suspension and high revs = wheel spin, too soft suspension and low revs = bog, stiff suspension and low revs = bog. A bit of wheel spin is better than bogging IMO. Once you are called up to the line, you will see a patch of water. Cars on slicks and drag radials (some even with semi comps) will do a burnout in the water to get heat into the tyre to improve traction. If you're on street tyres, either do a very small burnout or not at all as a tyre which heats up too much is worse than a cold tyre as it is too plyable and won't get traction either. After the burnout, if you do one move up to the starting line. There are 2 sets of lights there. The Xmas tree has 3 sets of lights. Set 1 (2 sets of white lights) are used to line you up at the 0 foot mark, set 2 (a set of yellow lights) are used for counting down to the green. The 3rd set is the green light. You will move your car forward until you light up the first set of white lights. This means you are staged and ready to race. From there, once both racers are staged, the yellow lights will come down and then eventually hit the green in which time it is time to go. Keep in mind though, depending on the situation, the green lights don't mean you HAVE to launch. They are only important when you are racing in a 'head to head' situation. If you are simply setting a time, the green doesn't mean much. It simply means the timer is armed and ready to go. The timer will not start until you leave the line. You have about 6 inches to move before the timer actually starts. From there, you're off and racing. Drag your way past the line and keep the foot to the floor past the line. The timing line has a laser about 60' before and 60' after the line which calculates your ET and terminal MPH. If you take your foot off the gas at the line, you will slow which gives a slower ET and MPH. By the time your brain works out you've crossed the line, you would have covered the 60' anyway so you can come off the gas and begin braking. Don't be sudden on the brakes either. Ease them on and apply more and more pressure as you slow. Hope this info helps. Good luck with it. Let us know of the results when you get them.
  11. True and correct. Lock it in Eddie.
  12. The problem we have is that when the nos is injected, the power comes in so hard that the straps (3 of them) have trouble keeping the car down. The straps are tied to a bar attached to the dyno and it bends. AFAIK, this figure is accurate to the wheels. Magazines tend to quote torque at the fly as all tests are performed on an engine dyno. There is another measurement of tractive effort but I have NFI what it translates to. All I know is that I'm making more than 13000Nm of tractive effort.
  13. My car is tuned on a 2wd dyno all the time as is the RacePace GTR. The only real difference you'll see b/w the 2wd and the 4wd dyno is the power reading. A 2wd dyno will give a higher reading due to drive train losses through the 4wd system. Last year at AutoSalon, my car ran 593awkw whereas in 2WD it ran 617rwkw. This time round we made 604awkw and 608rwkw. The 608rwkw was not indicative of the power simply due to wheelspin. After 3 tries and 500kgs ballast, we still couldn't get traction on the rollers so we gave up. The tuning of a GTR whether it be on a 2wd or 4wd is irrelevant as all your changing is the mapping of the engine itself. 33 and 34 GTRs always have power going to the front wheels. The front shaft should be dropped out from the transfer case when tuning. It's a simple 5 min job involving 4 bolts.
  14. It all depends on how a DD dyno is configured as you have to put in your own weather conditions, hence shootout mode is used as a base sometimes. I can't tell you what the dyno at Ice would give as the car almost came off the rollers a couple times before we gave up trying and accepted a figure of 600+ The dyno at MAS takes weather readings 500 times per second during a run and makes the appropriate changes in the configuration to give an accurate reading.

    Chasers Tuning

No and yes. It's actually safer to remove the front shaft from the transfer case though.

It's not about how much time you have, it's about how much dedication you have. Ice worked on my car till 5am on Sat morning and moved the car in at 8:30 in the morning. And look at the results. That is dedication...
  17. Cool. thanks for that. Look forward to it.
  18. Sorry bout that Nath. As you can imagine, we were a tad busy
  19. Ah well. Another MAS is over and people are back at work recovering from a long weekend of cleaning cars, talking to car enthusiasts and the general public. A great showing again by SAU representitives and supporters. I just thought I'd take this time to thank the many people who helped out getting my car to MAS again and assisted in making MAS dyno history again when my car ran 604awkw. Although we were intending on breaking my own outright record of 617rwkw, wheelspin didn't help our cause and we couldn't get a solid run out of the rollers On a personal note, I want to thank: Nige Gerald Karlos Pete Mick who put in all the hard yards and late nights to get my car into MAS this time round. The engine sounded solid and made good numbers without flinching. The flame on Sat was defiantely a Kodak moment (Thanks SnowBall). 30kms of running in on the dyno and then making big numbers just goes to show how good the work is. As you may or may not know, the car wasn't ready until 5am on Sat morning and we drove the car into the Shed at 9:30am before the crowds came in. Talk about a close call. Without them, my car would still be sitting in the factory doing sweet nothing. Jack (JAGR33) for making the effort to tow the cars from Ice to Jeff's Shed late Friday night and first thing again on Sat morning. Also, thanks to Nontas for towing my car back to TGS on Sunday night. Thanks to Bec fro getting me the hot water for the car on Sat when it was needed. I hope the bucket went back to the owner coz I used my own bucket on Sunday and left it at the Shed Thanks goes to Tony from TGS for storing my car on Sunday night. If it wasn't for him, my night would have been a lot longer driving the R to Richmond, coming back to the city and picking up the 6. Wouldn't have been fun. Thanks to RPMZ, Kel and DJ Abs for organising the shirts, girly outfits, designs for the flyers, the after party and decks on the display. Another fine effort and greatly appreciated. A special thanks to the fine fine ladiez who volunteered their time to promote FA, have their photos taken with the crowd and hand out flyers on Sat to promote the after party. A stunning effort indeed. Finally, thanks to all the supporters who did favours for me and the Ice guys to make our lives easier. If I've missed anyone out, I'm sorry but I do appreciate the efforts. See you all at the NDSOC day on 28 May!
  20. Here's the dyno sheet if anyone is interested. I'll have the video footage as soon as I install my new hard disk.

    Auto Salon

Great work all who put in the hard yards and to the supporters who came to say hi!! It was good to talk to you and meet some new people. I'm really tired and busy here so I'll keep it short. See you all at the NDSOC drag day!
  22. Hey All, Thanks for the comments. It was a long and argeous road to get where we ended up. Bit bummed on the RWD run as the rollers were a little slippery. Even with an extra 400 kgs of ballast couldn't help my car grip I need to give special thanks to Gerald, Nige, Pete, Karlos, Mick, Jack and all the others involved in the car for putting in the special tireless efforts over the last couple weeks to get this car in order and making silly numbers on the dyno. Without their help, this would not have happened. This car wasn't ready until 5am on Sat mornign and then moved into Jeff's Shed before the general public were let in. 30kms of running in was all the time we had to check the engine. Seems pretty strong Heading out to NDSOC Drag Day on 28 May for those who are interested in watching this thing run. Should be interesting. I'll work on the footage soon but I've got a fair bit of it so it may take awhile.
  23. I'll be at MAS too but with the FangArtists. Hopefully I'll put a good show on the dyno for the kiddies
  24. stock GTR BOVs RAWK!!! 617rwkw GTR and 575rwkw Supra can't be wrong
