  1. Another great clip Noddy I've always been interested in having a crack at it, but don't have an older car. How did you get in with a Skyline? False teeth?
  2. 33 is looking for a new home, but with Russ up north now, it's left to the rest of us to finish it off and move it on. When are you back Roy with a pocket packed with Euros? Russ, I had him enetered this Sunday, but he pussed out without 4WD. I woulda gorn anyway. It'll have to be 2010 now
  3. Any predictions for the time when the car finally sees Lakeside? (was to be this sunday but lack of all wheels driving put an end to that )
  4. Plenty, I think Mark did in the region of 55 laps, and we missed all day saturday and packed up before the final two sessions sunday. Basically, you could easily wear your car out if you wanted to I reckon. I think it's a stretch to say having the three litre engine takes much away from it being a GTR, certainly much less than removing the 4WD system anyway. Having a 3 litre is no bigger modification from factory than having high mount turbos in my opinion, and Giant's car is still on low mounts and factory exhaust manifolds.
  5. I too brought up a 2WD conversion, simply because it does get such good traction, even better if it wasn't carrying 100kg of useless (at the moment) 4WD running gear, but, we're all of the opinion converting it to 2WD would take too much away from it still being a GTR.
  6. I reckon you're trying too hard.
  7. Yeah, that little sideways on the warmup lap was the lock stops (it doesn't have much lock at all), nice catch Mark IMO, that really is some excellent driving for a guy who's been to Bathurst twice in two years, in two different cars.
  8. I used bonnet pins in the front corners and the original latch with a permanent key in it to hold the rear down.
  9. Yeah, we jury rigged an Attessa pressure gauge to it so we could watch the vid and see it. There's your proof it had little if any 4WD.
  10. Indeed it would be cool! Russ was stoked to hear he clocked 358 in the Evo 5 weren't ya Russ, until Brett realised he'd misread it and it was actually 238. LOLOL nawwwww poor Russy......
  11. Yes Harry, A V8 Supercar is still quite a bit quicker yet.
  12. Yeah, the Attessa thing is really gettin on the nerves. In fact, the car really performs quite well in 2wd, and we only confirmed our suspicions when we installed a transfer case pressure gauge on friday to make sure.
  13. No, a very slight lift to get it to turn in Yes, I called him a pussy.
  14. I can confirm Mark was on slicks. Not making excuses because the times set were quick regardless, but Fitzgerald was driving a Cup car said he was around 5 seconds a lap slower this weekend due to track conditions. Normally 12's but couldn't better 17's.
  15. Yes I too hear good things re o/s entrants, along with the possibility that I may be driving something
  16. Sure is. The track seemed a bit slow this year too. Russ' Evo 5 we took was about four seconds slower despite quite a bit more power and slick tyres. Interestingly Peter Fitzgerald told us he's never seen something spank a Porsche Cup Car so hard on the straights, including when he's been at LeMans.
  17. Just looked at Natsoft, I think the 3rd place time was actually when John Bowe was driving that Ferrari Challenge car. And mad props to Bruce Hibbard for bolting slicks onto his stock road car GT2 and hussling it around in the 21's after his GT2 race car popped the donk.
  18. Yeah Jess we (Hi Octane Team) were beside John all weekend and he really is a great guy. Mark's R34 ran beautifully, except those bloody coil packs which of course, proved near impossible to find. We will go through the footage and post some up ASAP. Please note we've discovered we have NO 4WD again, with the Attessa only coming in when sensing vertical movement, ie, over the crests, otherwise, she was pure 2WD, and wasted quite a bit of time, especially out of the slower turns such as Murrays and The Cutting. Next year should be good Watching the brakes glow in the braking area after the 'Chase was pretty cool, Mark peaked at 319.7 klm/h down the chute during Friday's non timed practice. Unfortunately the new coil packs didn't have the grunt to run a wide spark plug gap, so we were forced to close the gaps and sacrifice a bit of power for the timed runs. I for one, cannot wait for next year!
  19. lol at Steve's pic! But where's your Kel? Sullens is quick, no doubt. That early STi had a huge amount of stick thats for sure.
  20. I don't run an oil cooler at all. RB20 spec Rad Benny was around 600 from memory. If Snowy paid 700 for his that's exceptional, because my buddy Mingay got mine as PWR sponsor him. But the old ruile says, if you can't touch your mates, who can you touch huh.
  21. Will see you there mate, we're taking Berry's R34 and Russ' Evo 5. The R35 is staying in the shed this year.
  22. Mine isn't a crossflow version, not do I run the oil cooler, but my engine is also a lowly RB20 and doesn't make the grunt that you guys do. I have a hobs switch set at 91 degrees, and I'm alway astounded with how little time the fan spends running. It typically only cycles for five to ten seconds then is back at 85 or so. I have it set at 91 because I never wanted the fan to cycle in while the car is moving. Timmy will attest to getting to the end of a stage and asking if it got, my reply was invariably "well it's nearly up to temp".
  23. IMO, if you did run the PWR thermo fan, you will find it even better Snowy. The give away is the DECA statement, proved that even a little more airflow, regardless of the engine working harder, massively reduced the temp. FYI, I run just one tiny little thermo fan with a PWR radiator.
  24. haha, no mate, my garage isn't enormous, when I say "we" I refer to my little bunch of racing mates. We're lucky that two of the group each own largish mechanical workshops. Basically, there's a car for everyone, and if we keep them cheap we all reckon it's more fun. Half the fun is building them together, and because they owe so little we can kind of treat them as "tear-offs" They're just built for circulating the local racetracks, nothing in particular.
  25. Well, we have five super-budget builds on the go now! lol The latest is an EF XR8 sedan. Another one that we expect to get done for under 5k or so all up, using parts we have lying around the show We have project; S13/RB20 FWD Trueno Lancer GSR/Evo Celica GT4 and now the XR8.
