  1. GTR bar will fit on GTS with VERY minimal work. GTR grille also clips in to headlight mould, and you can cut the front off the bonnet to let the grille fit. A Nismo air seperating bonnet lip tidies the front edge of the modified bonnet nicely. It IS WORTH CHECKING with Nissan the cost of a new genuine bar and lower lip, they have recently halved in price! I reckon plastic is far superior to glass re longevity, and legal as well? Cheers.
  2. Sounds like your friend's been reading the Drift R ad, and not really knowing what it means. I'm of the understandind that a true "staggered SET" is different widths front and rear, but the same and correct offset for a particular vehicle.m (eg. Toyota Supra Turbo) This way the handling shouldn't be compromised, save for the slight but obvious effect of having slightly more rear than front grip.
  3. sounds like a recipe for a field of boring cars, even though my own vehicle would have subscrided to such a formula. scrutineers would also have to be tyre experts to recognise sticky tyres. eg, Federal is talking about bringing out a sticky drag tyre that looks exactly like their 17 inch street tyre.
  4. You say this is a '91 model. How was the car been complied? Is it a personal import? i.e. no green compliance plate? Elligable 32's were from 6/92 on and now '89's. Or is the car on rally reg?
  5. So you've already replaced the turbo/s once and it's still the same? Doesn't sound like a turbo issue then does it?????
  6. I didn't think there was too many Dynos that were capable of spinning to 300? I thought around 200 was the limit for most. Anyway, sitting on a dyno is not quite as exciting as seeing a car bust through the air @ 300k's! Is your car limited to 230 because of factory fitted tyres or tailshaft issues? I believe that most factory limits are for either if these. eg, V6 Magna/V6 Camry limited to 210 due to "H" Rated tyre. My thoughts are this test would require all cars to be fitted with "Z" Rated tyres?
  7. I "know" a guy up here that did a Neo into a 33 and he said it was a nightmare to fit the 33 engine wiring harness to a Neo. I'll admit this guy was no brain surgeon but there is plenty of differences apparently, not just engine but body related as well. DezertEagle, I asume you don't have the Neo harness? Thats why you chose aftermarket? Anyway, good luck with it!
  8. Remember that when you fit a GTR cooler, the top edge will be virtually hard up against the bonnet latch, and the bottom edge will be pretty close to level with the bottom of a standard front bar. Therefore, if you want the return pipe to hang lower than your front bar go for it. Might not last long though! I would suggest you bring the return pipe up through the inner gaurd and over to the plenum above the radiator, that is of coarse if your not prepared to re-locate your throttle body to the front of the engine.
  9. Good on ya Don! Sounds cool! But I don't think too many guys will be sticking there hands up for salting down their R34 GTR's! Have you seen what a little salt does to a Jappa? Some of the cars that come off salted roads are rooted.....
  10. Duncan, believe me mate, I've thought about N.T! I'm up there once a month and it's wicked! Shame Magnas aren't that quick! But seriously, with the new train to get cars up there relatively cheaply and easy, especially for southerners, it's a real possibility! I am involved with a few "powerful" people in Alice, there may be a chance to close the Stuart Highway periodically>>>>
  11. Good stuff Snowman, I'll put some thought into what you've said. But do you really think that people with, 1) a car capable of doing this, 2) the time/money required to prepare for this 3) the dedication to travel to be involved, won't pay $100 or more to be involved? I know I would! Am I being rediculous thinking $100 or so isn't a big expense to do something like this these days - in controlled "safe" conditions?????
  12. If you decide to run with GTR cooler, you'll be much better off to run the return up through the gaurd to the plenum. A nightmare to plumb it nicely the other way 'cause the GTR cooler is higher than the aftermarket ones that have the "under" return.
  13. I'd sour it.
  14. Ultimatey I'd like to have both a waiver & a comprehensive check over - for peace of mind. Anyway, all that really comes later, at this time I'm really just trying to gauge interest in an event like this. As we've all already discussed, there's plenty of things to cover.... but if we get enough solid interest then it's worth doing all the running around. SO COME ON - who's got a quick car and wants to USE the damn thing? I've got 2 solid entrys from QLD so far.......
  15. Holden has a reasonable speed bowl, but is only "neutral steer @ 200klm/h", not really what we need. I have a couple of places in mind, spread over a few states. I know 300 is VERY FN FAST, so thats why EVERY car would be gone over carefully to ensure is is safe. The last thing any of us need is a major acco. I wouldn't think that 'near standard cars' would compete, we need things that can grunt up to big speeds pretty quickly - and have the braking hardware/parachute!!! fitted.
  16. I think most people ( if we in fact get to drive our own cars) will need at least 1 practice run to get used to the car at near top speed... I've done 313k's in a 32GTR, and trust me, it aint a walk in the park!
  17. Ultimately if we could get enough interested parties from each capital city, we could possibly organise mass transit of vehicles via TNT. As it would probably be limited to just a couple of runs, dragging too many tools and spares along probably wouldn't be too neccesary? I'm not convinced it should be held in Qld yet.
  18. I wouldn't want an event like this to be limited only to skylines. I would suggest the only limitation be "street registered, four wheels". There would however have to be stringent scrutineering checks, speed rated tyres etc.. i.e. safe cars.
  19. Of coarse these are all considerations. Of coarse you need a car CAPABLE of 300klm/h! There aren't that many around! I would suggest that maybe (this is just a thought) that entry would require an official quarter mile time slip of 12.5 sec or better?("Supercar" class)? This would at least give the car a chance of completing the tests in the available room.
  20. I was lucky enough to get an invite to a recent Porsche showroom gala opening which featured a real Carrera GT on the showroom floor. A beaitifull thing, but kinda "surreal" because of it's stratosperic asking price, too expensive to aspire to I think?
  21. Hi all. I'm floating an idea I've been thinking about for some time now. Forgive me if it's been discussed before, but if we get enough interested and serious people together we can make a weekend of this! Most of you probably read about these so-called "Supercars" in the big published magazines as much as I do. The accepted acceleration performance measurements used to be 0-100klm/h and standing 400metres. As cars get faster, these seem less often used, and standing kilometre, 0-200klm/h, and 0-300klm/h times/speeds are more common. Before I go too far with it, some questions! 1) How many of you would be seriously interested in comparing the performance of your car against the likes of F1 Mclaren, Enzo, etc, under controlled conditions? 2) How much would you expect the entry fee to be? 3) How far would you travel to be involved? 4) How many attempts would you expect to get your best times? 5) If outrageous insurance costs didn't allow owner/drivers, would you allow a professional driver to drive in your place? If enough serious interest is gauged, I'll take it to the next step! Ben.
  22. I'd like to see this fully sorted in a 4WD Magna. It'd probably be near perfect for those roads out Alice way. I get out there once a month and the rental Magna I get bangs on the speed limiter @ 215klm/h whenever I get the chance. A torque monster turbo version would be cool! De-restricted it'd boogy!
  23. I used to work for a yard in Brisbane, and I sold several 33's under $40G, ranging from clean '95s through to update '96 V-specs for that money. Just look hard enough and screw hard enough. Doesn't hurt to be nice to salesmen either, it always seems to attract a better deal! Good luck with the hunt!
  24. Yeah, too true....... the more I think about it the more it sounds like a nightmare!
  25. APEXi AX53B60 low mounts on standard ported manifolds.
