Synchronises his watch 71:59:59 and counting. *gets comfy and fetches some pop corn*

yup thats what i said... ones a nice clean (yet sudden) stop impacting against nothing but the restraints. the other is a nice clean deceleration with 1.5 ton infront and another .5 benhind you that desperately want to meet each other. As for the 120 head to head isnt 260. i agree to that too... but its not a plain130, the issue is inertia... 130 into say a brick wall means the wall would shift maybe an inch (if thewayy is about the same size as a car). but if that wall is approaching 130 how it absorns the energy of your impact will be far different. so basically its more like a 130 collision with no shock absorbtion via crumple zones. symantecs maybe... but a small yet important difference. i apologise if i havnt explained this well... its 5 am i'm about to leave for work... and i'm not happy jan...

Gods.... i've done it again.... i must be the ultimate post killer... ok heres a valiant effort to rekindle it. Actually the human body CAN withstand a 260km impact... the key is how you hit yr target. Back in the 50's/60's a guy called john stapp (actually the guy who coined the term "murpheys law") was doing tests for the Air force on how many G's of deceleration a human can take. He did this by strapping himself into a rocketsled (basically a rocket engine on a board with a chair infront sat on a set of rails) and shooting himself down the track at over the speed of sound then stopping withing say 2-5 secs. he repeatedly clocked about 45 odd g's od decelleration with only a few broken ribs concussions burst blood vessels (minor) and nausia. so its all in what is decelerating you where it is and how it does it.... so if its a well designed harness in a good seat with nothing to loose to hit you... then you might be ok.... on the other hand if your in a standard 5 point harness a bucket seat and have a spare lada round to come loose and hit you......... Anyway another one of stapps escapades was to parachute out of a gondola suspended below a weather baloon... not much of a feat until u realise the following... 1. the baloons at around 300 000 feet 2. the pressure coupling on his glove was leaking (he had to wear a space suit for this,, ,like the murcury astros wore) and his hand had balooned up. 3. he broke the speed of sound freefalling 4. it took 8 chutes to decend.

thats a tuffy dude... not the wastegate is my guess... if its open (enough) you wont build boost AFAIK. is it building as much as it used to, do your revs climb faster then usual with no real speed increase? if so could be the clutch -
ROFL, ya know a statment like that could make some lads feel even worse.... "u mean she gets around but hasnt done me??? i must be a total reject then"

WRECKING Series 3 R33 GTR
Messiah replied to DESCR8's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
*thinks $500 is a good deal but cant think of any other body part that he might need* For now i'll just take the rear quarters.... so if u can give me a price for that that would rock. I've got a few friends together and we're trying to think of bits we need so that we can help u strip it clean. u still got the turbo's, i have a mate interested in them -
Kinda thread related... it seems that the lada is more solidly built than the some of our more westernised cars. My ex crashed her ford corsair at around 80km.... looked about the same as the 2 ladas afterwards.... unfortunately it didnt go too well for her either. i would post a pic or 2 from the paper... but i cant look at em to do it.. (and before anyone says this isnt an attention grab, i'm just commenting on the fact that the lada seems to be built like a tank, although that counts for jack with a 260 impact speed)

how are the quarter panels? and how much for all 4? -
Sweet that exactly what i wanted to know. its bonus time soon so i'll hold off and get the PFC when that comes through. Factory fuel cut blows tho... i turn up the boost... i get pinned to the seat and just as the smile is sliding onto my face, in cuts the fuel cut and hello windscreen... meet my forehead.
-
Ok now i've got my new e-boost in and it appears that i'm now suffering from factory fuel cut. Now thew easiest way i know to fix this would be a fuel cut defender from say turbosmart. But what i would like to know id if this is the best solution to the problem. I plan on buying a PFC and i'm looking into a safc but i'm trying to avoid doubling up on anything (ie buying somehing to fix one problem when something down the road will fox it too). Anyone care to make any suggestions?

nah figured it out myself. For all of those who need help in future let me know... its a walk in the park once you have done it before

Ok i'm almost dont... but now i'm on to the last section... connecting the solanoid to the waste gate actuator etc etc. Now i'm pretty sure i've found the actuator (hard to miss) but for the sake of being sure thats what i think i've circled in the first attachment. the first hose attaches to this. The bit i'm having probs with is as follows Firstly the second hose from the eboost solanoid can either be vented to joined onto the hose that orignally left the factory solanoid, now i'm wondering... is the thing i've circled as B in the second pic. is that the factory unit? and if so which hose do i hijack. Secondly, where is a good place to get a boost only reading from the turbo. the Third hose is meant to join to a boost only point somewhere, wheres a good spot for this?

sweet.... didnt want to have shell out for a new battery mine looks new enough as is.

I had some ignition problems a few days back and called the nrma (it was after work and i had no tools on me ok). After looking over the car we traced the problem to a loose lead (previous owner must have bent the contact out of shape so i could come loose. Anyway thats no the point of all this. One thing the mechanic mentioned to me is that as far as he knew skylines needed what was known as a high discharge battery or something of a similar name. he said that these batteries are vented and pointed out what looked to be a vent hole just to the left of the battery when viewed from the boot. According to him the high power requirments mean that alot of gas is produced and if that is not correctly handled and left to build up a stray spark COULD (please note could not will) ignite those gas's hence the venting hole. I've done a search and found a few comments about the right battery etc etc but no one has mentioned this. Can anyone confirm or deny this.

Need legal advice, traffic offence related.
Messiah replied to DTMPWR's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i'm the forum meber skyline geoff was refering to i think (ajourned twice since my post if anyones interested). Ok heres what i know. Dont plead guilty, you didnt run the red, and you had no intention to do so. As for anything else. get a lawyer, its not worth fecking thnigs up. I'm in sydney too and i'm using mark steinburg and assoc, he's a rev head and bike rider aswell as a lawyer who specialises in traffic. -
No the blue falcon belongs to the guy who owns the yellow torana, that white commi driver used to drive the green barina

hmmm, this is sounding more and more appealing now. I'm having enough trouble as it is finding time to work and organise the GSD so if anyone wants to organise a protest i'll be up for it. i've pretty much got my car to seem stock.

Nah, your thinking of the BOV. the BOV plumbs back to the turbo ti keep it spinning. waste gates either vent to the exhaust (internal) or to the atmosphere (external).
-
that would be cool... but i'm sure some dickhead will start doin burn outs and spoiling it..... if everyone just casually drove up to the front door and parked quietly i'm sure it would get a point across
-
yeah i agree about the uni students... they get on my nerves too... but thats mainly cos they get in EVERYONES way instead of just the people they are protesting against... oh and they have a funny definition of "peaceful protesting" ie peaceful means kicking in doors and occupying chancellors offices... Now the original post wasnt a call to arms, just satisfying my curiosity, but it does strike me that letter writing, while being very polite, doesnt make people pay alot of attention, i know that as i read a letter i'd be thinking "oh you dont want us to do this... thats nice". But then again, i dont know who is in a position of power and who gives a crap so oi wouldnt know who to complain to anyway.
-
Just a quicky. I've been having a read of the "how to stop the changes to the 15 yr rule" thread and am considering writing a letter to the relavent ppl etc etc. Now recently there has been alot protests on the news about all sorts (hecs, pay rates etc etc). Now i know about these issues cos everyone (namely noisy uni students with too much time on their hands) makes a real big public fuss about them. But i only know about the compliance changes because of this forum. Has anyone thought of actually organising a protest to shed some puplicity on the subject? Or to make it a more general question, has the import scene ever taken a protest further that letters saying "Not happy Jan" over any specific issue? i dont know... maybe a park in or something.

If i can pay it over over time i'd be interested. i can afford them, just not the 1200 in one go. if it were say 200 - 300 a fortnight it would be doable. If this isnt out of the question let me know... i can do a downpayment and stuff if u want. -
