I prefer polishing as it is more resistant to scrathes etc, but remember maintenance of anything polished can be a pain also... I did my SR20 cover one weekend...but with the help of a slab of beer and some bored mates!!! I will be doing my RB25 soon, as soon as I get another car so I have the time that is!!!
-
Dru, do a search, I posted a very detailed run in procedure for all engines, also Motul and Pennzoil have specific run in oils that you can get, some from Autobarn from memory!!!
-
Yeah was talking about the bleed valve...there is no allen key adjustment on the BOV...
-
This is getting a little old now... Now where did I put that welcome to last week picture...
-
OK got an email back from GFB, its 3mm Also does anyone have a photo of a GFB or Turbosmart setup as all my searches have revealled instructions but NO photos...
-
Does anyone know the size, cause my Allen keys are packed and I need to borrow off a mate!!! Thanks for the fast replies guys!!!
-
Can I use a normal Allen Key for the GFB Atomic BOV or do I need the specific Allen Key that originally came with the device????

Spotted a silver Stagey coming out of the ICB this morning as I was going on near the Hospital/Lutwyche Rd And then a black R32, unsure of the plates as I was waaayy to far behind going along the ICB, had the missus in the car so no speeding up to catch the plates... All about 6.30 this morning!!!

Then you need to get out more pred...

GCG???

I just grabbed a Cascade as well... I am actually VERY impressed that CRD managed to get that much out of the engine and for it to last as long as it did, even on "Street Tune" The fact is the ring lands should have been the first to go melty melty, so the tune appears to be within a realm of somewhat safe... A cracked piston is a usually indication of something going horribly wrong at a certain point in time, and having Nos this would be almost positively one of the MAJOR contributing factors...that and the fuel cut limiter... To be honest, if I had a stock engine producing that much power, and looking at the AFR's, I would have already saved money and parts for the full rebuild...albeit that I would have done it in the first place. At the end of the day tuners follow what you want as a customer, they also let you know, and are obliged to do so, what safety margin there is, also what can go wrong (no one can predict when) and what precautions you should make. Shit happens...I had a piston ring collapse, on an engine that had done 40,000km log book klms...I think you should be counting your lucky stars!!!

thats not nice <_< Mention my name to Bobby, he probably would not remember me until I turn up...he is not the best with names...but never forgets a face!!! Its also good that a very good mate send him alot of work, damn Redcliffe, its like another society. I will see what Bobby can come up with, it will be after Jambo as I have other work to finish on others cars before then...

Excellent idea!!! That means everyone has enough time to get a loan for the petrol!!! November may be a better time as alot of people have alot on in December!!! But hey, you will not be able to suit EVERYONE!!!

If they are hidden then how is anyone to find out. The welds look fine, yes the taper on the BOS is sharper and thus in theory at least not as flow orientated. I started this thread to GET information so please share it with everyone. You have bought the CES one and yes I agree that the quality is better otherwise you would never sell a product for that price. The 02 sensor however does need to be above horizontal to work, that is fact. I am considering a custom one is mild steel, as I know the people I should be able to get it done relatively cheaply. I also want the wastegate pipe to go in line with the main pipe and enter the main pipe at the front of the bend at the bottom, if you know what I mean...
-
I agree with that... My cat back to rear muffler (I wanted to remove the jap section that included a middle muffler as it was too quiet), including flange joints, gasket bolt etc, all madrel bent mild steel cost me the huge sum of $80... Atleast the BOS one has the O2 sensor hole on the top...and the welds look alright too...
-
Zyomtic, I will see what they can make up for me, I have a LARGE, read HUGE rear muffler only at the moment (and cat obviously) made by 5Zigen. The exhaust is quiet and not droney at all, before I tried a different muffler and it drone like a MOFO. Its the rear muff that makes the difference so I will see what a split dump will do...

OK people, this is the response from CES themselves...note the $700 for ceramic coated...I received UNDER car pictures but really wanted a picture of BOTH of these dumps unfitted...but JUDGING by the picture on the site SK is correct about the O2 sensor position, he is also VERY correct about the sensor position... Despite this CES claim for the full exhaust on an R33, a 40rwkw gain...the dump by ITSELF is a 20rwkw gain...bang for your buck. I might see what Beedhams can make up and maybe post that when I get a chance to actually LEAVE work... Would you be able to post a pick??? EDIT: Link here http://www.ssautochrome.com/level.itml/icOid/1531 I could not find an R33 front pipe to go with the dump...and the prices are obviously is USD people...
-
Yeah I am mates with Bobby and they do all my exhausts and mates cars as well...I am just not a Redcliffe local... I was weighing up the price of the two and have mates who designed the original GTi-R dump for CES. Could you PM me how much the split dump from turbo to cat was from Beedhams!!! And to answer the other statements, yes I like doing things right the first time, that is why when #5 ring collapsed I rebuilt the whole engine with new everything except for the crank...and block obviously... And at the end of the day the ACTUAL gain will be different on every car and CLAIMS are merely that...claims I REALLY would like a picture of the ACTUAL CES R33 or even the R32 GTST split dump...
-
Aright people... I have done many a search on this and its about time an actual comparison was done...to a point. there are a couple of SPLIT dumps on the market, and I will let everyone do a search in relation to the difference in performance of the split compared to the oval dump (Covered MANY times). I am looking to compare the CES Racing Dump Pipe and the BOS Importing one 9the question has been raise but nothing further) I note that the picture per the CES site does not look like it would fit due to where the O2 sensor hole is and the wastegate pipe... http://www.cesracing.com.au/images/gts-t_dump_pipe.jpg compared to the BOS Importing Dump http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...opic=74022&st=0 Now does anyone have an ACTUAL picture of the CES Racing R33 dump pipe, I am after where the "screamer/wastegate" pipe re-enters the main pipe of the dump/front pipe. Fromt he picture it looks like this pipe is NOT for the R33 GTST, if anyone wants to confirm or deny please do so... Also I am after what size increase over what distance is the CES Racing Dump Pipe from the back of the turbo to the full 3" pipe. I have been told that an increase in diametre over a longer distance will provide better flow... Any help would be greatly appreciated as there is only a small difference in price as far as I am aware.

Just Finished Fmic Install On R33......
Bobjones replied to LANFOH's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yep its bad, that means you will run infinite boost as the wastegate will not open as it has NFI of whats going on... Rather silly to do that really... -
I think you need to change those indicators they are UGLY!!!!!!! Otherwise the paint looks alright... On a side note alot of body kit places don'e have experienced tradesmen who know what they are doing...its unfortunate but its common
