Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0

I've mailed them previously and gotten no response. Not knocking them but I'm hesitant to give anyone money that can't respond to email. -
Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0

Just on that, I see SPARESBOX have them and most of the efr range on eBay now listed as being in stock and for delivery in a few days . I called to ask WTF as I'm told to wait til September. They said they all come from their warehouse in USA and will take 7 business days. I believe this is very misleading so be careful purchasing on eBay through Sparesbox. I'm not sure what if they are waiting for the us dollar to change or what. The 2 options I see are paying a premium from someone like gcg who may have something on the shelf or buy from the states and hope nothing goes wrong. Someone from this forum needs to bring a container load here. ? -
Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0

I ended up ordering a 9174. When told back then they didn't have any I asked if anything from a 7670, 8374 or 9180 was available which was annoying because I had to give them each part number . Was then told they'd call me back in 15 minutes. After waiting a few hours I called them back. This went on for about 4 days til I eventually just said I'd wait til mid June for what I ordered as they couldn't work out if they had any of those models in stock. I'd be surprised if they are able to get any of the efr turbos. If anybody could put me onto someone with stock at a good price that would be wonderful thanks. -

I have another update on SPARES BOX re the supply of an efr. I was told 6 weeks ago it would of be sent on the 15th of June. I called them on the 14/6 to find out how true that was. Was told it would be sent on 15/6. (Express post which I paid extra for) Called them today to see where it is. (19/6). Was told it 'might' be in stock by September this year. Will now get a refund less PayPal fees etc? Looks like the efr dream is over. Please guys beware before paying for anything with them. -

Where did you order the 9174 from and where is the 9180 coming from? What price did they end up being thanks? I'm starting a 9174 on 2.6 shortly. -
Hand relief in a circular motion? With lubricant or dry?

What is your new setup?

See the shiny pipe your hand is on in first pic ? The pipe that replaced has the fitting on .

Sorry didn't see that it was. Is there a check valve on charcoal cannister? Check the t piece to see if it's not restricted.

Is the knob on the bleed valve wound in all the way?

Had enough of dealing with short supply. Looking at canning projects and buying one of these... Alfa Romeo giulia qv. Does anyone know much about them? Looking at getting one towards the end of year. -

Oils and simple things maybe. Not something like efr turbos and parts where the only thing in stock is a photo. Then you could be strung along for months and months. Also when you pay $14.95 for express shipping only to be told 2 weeks later that's only from the date of dispatch which will be months away when stock 'may' arrive sort of defeats the purpose of paying for express shipping. -

Totally agree. To me buying something off the shelf is more convenient than the heartache of being sold something that is unavailable. Not sure on paying and hoping something from the states arrives at the sort of money efrs are . -

I have been and know of someone else screwed by Sparesbox. Make sure they actually stock what they sell. Very hard to contact also. I I'd give them a miss . Is fullrace the best place to buy efr housings from? -

And the efr 9174, how are they? Will it overspend with the smaller turbine relative to compressor? -

As I said if I go efr I'll fabricate a decent manifold. I'm probably at the limit of stock manifold now. So I won't bother fitting an efr to standard manifold. So where do you think I stand with a 9180 efr? E85 is correct. -

I think I'm making around 8 psi by 3500 rpm which could be improved with proper boost control however I'd be happy with similar response with a big efr and much more power. Not chasing numbers but am running 27 psi now so will stick to that as a max. I know an efr 8374 will be better all round but will a 9180 match the response I have now but make an extra 100 kw or so? I'm currently around 400 wkw on relatively high boost. With standard rb25 exhaust manifold on rb26. -

The 1000hp project is a tb48 engine unrelated to this topic. I'm currently running an s362 on an n1 rb26 with 264 cams on e85. Tossing up between an efr 8374 or efr 9180 and fabricate a new manifold to suit. The turbo I'm using now is iwg which is not ideal as the two ports are way too small so cannot control boost properly giving a lazy boost curve. Was going to convert to ewg and open the ports up to get the boost on harder earlier but may as well fit an efr. -

I'm looking at the efr 9180 now for my rb26. 1.05 ewg. Upgrading a Borg Warner plain bearing. Is it too big? I cant decide now on 8374 or 9180. Also changed my r34 diffs to 4.11s and couldn't be happier. -
It's a Borg Warner s415. The waste gate is on both scrolls but the ports will need opening up anyway.

Looking at using it in a compound setup with smaller cat turbo. Will be in a swb gq

1000hp + Build I'm gathering parts for a build up on a tb48 engine aiming for over 1000 HP. I have a turbo thats equivalent to a Garrett gt4708. It has a 1.41 rear t6 rear housing. Has anybody had experience with these . From what I can find it's sized for 1200hp size turbos? Obviously too big on an rb?

Do the iwg versions make the same numbers as the ewg ones?
