  1. I can't recall the details printed on the back of the steering wheel airbag on my 05 V35 last time I had it off, but 'Takata' doesn't ring any bells. 2 security torx screws and you can lift the airbag off the steering wheel. you shouldn't even need to unplug it to read the detail on the label..
  2. I had a '93 J30 for 13 years.. but only changed to a V35 6MT sedan at 37 .. now the kids are old enough to get themselves in and out of the car, I probably would go with a coupe if I could get a reasonable figure for my sedan. As for the OPs choice.. go for the coupe.. one day practicality will take a higher priority like it did for me.. until then.. enjoy it!
  3. Apologies.. the G/Z combo is coupe springs on the rear not the front. However, there should be a difference between rear revised 350z springs and S2+ coupe (with 19in rays) springs. They have the same spring rate, but the 350Z springs should be shorter, so you should see a height difference by fitting uprated coupe springs on the rear vs revised 350z rear springs. As for what it will look like.. put a jack under the front of your car and lift it about 12mm and have a look from the side.
  4. this is something that isn't that uncommon on G sedans in USA.. they call it a G/Z combo. They mainly do it to make the wheel arch gap similar front/back as even in stock form the gap between the rear guard and tyre is larger than the front. I don't know anyone in Aust running this though. I am running 350Z revised springs all round on my sedan and the front camber isn't that bad (about -1.2), but still out of spec.
  5. I wouldn't be worried, as long as the thread is correct and the oil seal sits in the right spot, it will be fine. There are a range of different sized Ryco filters that fit and all work ok.
  6. I don't think it would get through compliance without baby seat anchor points. The V35 sedan needed a centre rear anchor point installed at compliance. I can't imagine it will be easy to get a baby in and out of the back of a coupe though, but if it is important enough to have a coupe, I guess you will cope.
  7. timing chain/tensioner issues are usually more of a 'rattling' sound. Is it a metallic sound? If not, can you hear it inside the cabin from around the driver's footwell area? EDIT - you said 'front of the engine' so it probably is timing related..
  8. Just be careful with some Sadle products. Auto leather is coated to help protect it from UV. Some non-auto leather cleaners will strip this coating
  9. it also smells like leather.. Which is a bonus. Don't think you will find it at your average supercheap/autobarn. I had to order it from one of the car detailing suppliers online.
  10. Sun is a big one.. Wherever possible protect it from the sun. I used to use meguiars products, but found they left the surface very shiny looking and not natural feeling, I have been using zaino products for a few years now after advice from a car detailer, I've been happy with their stuff.
  11. It is just a high viscosity oil.. Not VLSD specific..
  12. I am going to guess 'remote controlled'
  13. Yeah. I would make sure all of those annoying 'backup' or 'crypto' products that a lot of UFDs come preloaded with these days have been completely removed too..
  14. ?? It was built in 2009, not 1989.. FAT16 hasn't been common for quite some time now and has a maximum partition size of 2GB.. I would have expected FAT32 to be the pick for a car of this age. NTFS is widely accepted in the PC world, I wouldn't be surprised if devices like this don't support it. exFAT was quite new at the time (released in 2007). If it is working on some UFDs, then I guess it is just very picky about what UFDs it likes.. see if you can get a larger version of the one it likes.
  15. I know this doesn't help you much since you have already bought the above kit.. but this popped up on ebay the other day. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Exedy-Nissan-350Z-Dual-Mass-Flywheel-Clutch-Kit-NSK7422DMF-/191578489552?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item2c9af7c2d0
  16. I just changed my diff bushings today.. 2 front bushes were still ok and squirted silicone fluid when I cut them out. Rear had just started leaking fluid, but still had a lot in it when I cut it open. Compressions rod bushes are common too.. I took my car for a WA a couple of years ago and they said these bushes were shot. I replaced them with whiteline bushes. The old ones looked ok when I remove them, no splits or cracks, but I guess they had just become too soft..
  17. from here - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EXEDY-CLUTCH-KIT-LUK-DMF-03-06-NISSAN-350Z-03-07-INFINITI-G35-3-5L-V6-VQ35DE-/251932446372 But the exchange rate is going to kill you. I bought mine over a year ago when it was still around A$1.10 to US$1.00 And because the figure will now be over A$1, import duty will kick in!
  18. let us know how you go with it. when I did my clutch replacement I went with a new DMF as I was scared off by the SMF guys complaining about low RPM gearbox chatter and I didn't want that in my daily.. I ordered my DMF and Exedy clutch kit from USA, ended up just under $1k. Not sure who stocks these locally, but they will be the same as the 350Z..
  19. compared to fitting airbag suspension, it's childs play!
  20. 7422DMF comes with a Dual Mass Flywheel (which is what these cars have from factory), 1000FW comes with a Single Mass Fly.
  21. No worries, thanks. I might give it a try then. I just didn't want to spend $200 on an overpriced generic OBD2 reader
  22. ^^ I have been looking at these, and wasn't sure if they can do all the consult3 functions or not. Does it let you communicate and work with with all systems like the real consult3 does? (ECU,BCM,TCU,SRS,ABS,etc)?
  23. Not sure with the V36. Buy I just use nissandatascan with my V35. Doesn't do everything, but let's me read and reset ECU, ABS and SRS codes, display lots of data. Not sure about TCU as I have a 6MT. Can also do st-angle adjustment and idle air volume adjustments. Also does immo keys if you know the BCM pin.
  24. If you make them work hard.. yes, the viscous fluid overheats and loses its viscousity, and the whole thing becomes more like an open diff. If you just drive them around as your normal 'daily' then it should maintain its LSD function for much longer. Exactly.. nothing special is required when replacing the oil in a VLSD compared to the standard open diff.
  25. I wish.. but sadly no.
