  1. nope, stock exhaust. The only non-stock items are 350Z springs.
  2. I noticed a small power steering issue the other day and I'm not sure if it a sign of 'bigger problems ahead'. The issue occurs when you turning the steering rapidly in one direction and then quickly change to turn the other direction, like when you are reversing into a parking spot and you are trying to line up the car as you park. When changing from turning the wheel right to turning left the steering momentarily feels firm (as if there is no power assistance), and then I hear a click sound and it comes good. When I say momentarily, I mean about half a second. it doesn't occur in any other situation, for example, if I stop turning the wheel for a second, then turn left. no problem. also doesn't occur in the opposite direction (from turning the wheel left to right). It seems as if there is a valve in the steering rack that is sticking for a bit, and the 'click' sound is the valve opening suddenly. I considered a tie rod end issue, but I wouldn't have expected as much resistance to steering, just the noise. Bringing the engine rpm up a bit (to run the power steering pump faster), doesn't make any difference. I am assuming I am probably looking at a rebuild of the power steering rack, but thought I would check here first in case anyone has any other suggestions. I have checked suspension bushes, and they are all ok.
  3. http://gocar.com.au/nissan-skyline-v36-coupe-guide/2 '8 inch wheel and tyre package' awesome!!
  4. Can't you get underneath a V36 on the ground? I can even drain the oil in my V35 sedan, dropped on 350Z springs with it flat on the ground.
  5. ^^ I bought one of those bluetooth OBDII dongles (that one above exactly), but it won't work with my V35, or my wife's J31 maxima.. I guess it might just be a faulty device?
  6. yep.. the fact that the G35 gets factory cruise, but the functionality doesn't even exist in the ECU in the V35..
  7. This wire does not exist on the V35. So I wouldn't be surprised if it is just a USDM thing.
  8. not sure about the NM35, but the V35 does not have the speed signal wire on the audio unit like the USDM G35 does. I was looking at connecting this up when I installed an G35 HU, but I couldn't find the speed signal wire that suited. The one taped to the Aircon pipe used for the Cruise install is not the correct signal for the G35 HU.
  9. PM Chris Rogers.. he will be able to help!
  10. You would want to get a professional spraypainter to do it for you, most paint jobs I have done with a rattle can come out as a very slightly dimpled/uneven surface.. fine for a panel, but not what you want on a headlight.
  11. Hope the warranty isn't like used car warranties in Australia.. they are a waste of space!
  12. correct.. the double DIN Facia is a replacement for the stereo.. not for the factory Navi Screen.
  13. there are 2 parts here. If you want to get rid of the factory Navi screen, you will need to find the top pocket that comes with the non-navi version to fill in the hole. As for the double din.. you will need something like this - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JDM-INFINITI-NISSAN-SKYLINE-G35-DOUBLE-DIN-DASH-KIT-IN-BLACK-W-AC-CONTROL-UNIT-/231118504199 It replaces the front panel where the factory HU is, and includes the required AC control buttons.
  14. ^^ don't take it to a dealer.. take it to someone who knows Nissans! Most dealers have a natural phobia to grey imports and will try their best to wipe their hands of them.
  15. I have been using the Blatz cable and nissandatascan for a while now. Works for the ECU, ABS and SRS, don't know about the TCU as I have a 6sp. Can also do immobiliser key programming if you have the PIN for your ECU.
  16. I don't have a V36, but I am not sure why they would put a rubber coupling in there and then not make it replaceable. The rear diff mount bush is fluid filled and when it splits, you end up with a silicone oil dribbling off it, which dries to a brown mess. I think the front bushes may also be fluid filled, perhaps these have leaked onto the tailshaft and been mis-diagnosed. Anyone that knows nissans should be able to look at this for you, as they are basically a 350/370Z with a 4dr sedan body.
  17. Not sure what they mean by 'tailshaft rubber coupling'. they do have a centre bearing which may be supported on rubber brackets?? or they are referring to the differential mounts? - http://nissan.epcdata.ru/skyline/pv36/7255-vq35hr/trans/370/ As for the 2nd item, sounds like they are talking about the diff mount in the rear carrier/subframe. Nissan don't sell this bush separatly.. so if you want the genuine bush, you need to buy the entire subframe!! Whiteline make an aftermarket kit. - https://conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=12051 - you should be able to buy this kit locally though. they may need to drop the subframe to press out the old bushing, or they can just do what everyone else does and cut the old one out. I guess they are just too scared to do either!
  18. +1 for sway bars. no idea about the bracing on these cars in particular.. but I know on some cars they can impact safety by preventing the engine from 'ducking' under the car in a severe frontal impact, and it caves in the firewall instead.
  19. I am fairly sure the CVT was available at least until 2005.. possibly through to the end of the V35 sedan run in 2006. EDIT - yep.. 2006 - https://www.tradecarview.com/used_car/japan%20car/nissan/skyline/15080873/
  20. ^^ please stop tempting me!!
  21. I believe there was some issues on the early V36, but there was an ECU update to fix it, problem was Nissan Japan refuses to supply the update to Australian Dealers. If the car was recently imported, chances are it has had the update applied before it left Japan. Not sure if there is any easy way to tell though. And yes, it is a Skyline. If it was an Infiniti, the steering wheel would be on the other side. I don't think there were any RHD Infinitis in 2008, but plenty of people that put Infiniti badges on their Skylines. They are the same car anyway.
  22. The CVT equipped V35 has paddle shifters on the steering wheel, and usually carries the name 350GT-8, although not on the actual badge on the rear. I wouldn't have a problem with a 350GT V36 if I had the option and wanted an auto, the main reason I went for a V35 is because I wanted a 6sp Manual Sedan. If money wasn't an issue, I would look for a 2010+ V36.
  23. Just avoid the V35 CVT if you don't want the problems associated with it. It was only an option anyway.. you can still get the standard 5sp auto or 6sp manual on the V35 Sedan. Or go with the KV36 (2008+) 370GT. (not sure which ones come with paddle shifters though)
  24. That is at the flywheel.. which would probably translate into about 160rwkw (rear wheel KW) at a rough guess.
