well i'll be using stock cams at the moment, but i spose putting in better springs now before the head goes on will mean that when i do want to change the cams, i won't have to stuff around with valve springs while the head is still attached to the block. Any recommendations on what springs to go for? Thanks Andrew
-
Well the head is off sitting on the floor already. So i may as well do something with it rather than just put it back on. I figured spend a few $$$ now to save doing it later. I'll have the valves refaced and reseated, and change the valve stem seals and guides. I'll definantly have it cleaned up, but am wondering where the porting benefits in the rev range... i'm tipping more in the topend than down the bottom.
-
yeah... at this stage, that's the power level i'm aiming at. Once i get more cash for a gearbox then i'll go for more. So i'd like to do it while the engine is in bits.

Just wondering where in Melbourne you guys would recommend i take my RB25DE cylinder head to be ported/polished? It's going on an RB30 bottom end. I'm looking for between 300-400kw at the wheels. Is there different types of porting for different applications? i'm quite new to this area so i don't know the ins and outs of it. Be good if we could get everyone's thoughts and experience on it. Also how VVT will be effected and whether or not i should get rid of it and just use adjustable cam gears. Thanks Andrew

Yeah i was just going off the website. Might have to give them a call. I'm tipping i'm not gonna get away with under $1000, just to change the colour/look of my headlights! Still debating if it's worth it

none for skylines though i'd love to get them, i've seen them on a GTR... they look mad! anyone know where to get them and how much i'd be looking at?!

Expressions of interest for 128mb MP3 players.
GiJOr33 replied to GiJOr33's topic in For Sale (Other Items)
not sure... i'm gonna find out all the details of them hopefully by the end of the week. -
have you got a blow off valve that vents to the atmosphere? cos if you are still running airflow meters then you'll get a plume of black smoke on gear changes as you get a rich injection of fuel as it delivers fuel based on the air the AFM has measured and half of it has been released through the bov. Another reason could be that the air/fuel ratio's get richer as you go up the rev range... a good tune to even it all out will fix that.

I have a client who can get 128mb mp3 players fairly cheap. About the same price as a 64mb player so looking at $200-$250ish. If there's plenty of interest then i'll find out how many i need to order and get a batch. I don't know much about them eg, size, if there is FM radio etc... but i'll get the details and post up here. Cheers, Andrew

cool... i'll go back and check it out

yeah i've got an RB25DE pump... I'm not sure if i'm gonna keep the VVT or not. Is it really worth it? or am I better off getting Adjustable Cam Gears?

how much better is the RB26DETT oil pump compared to the RB25DE pump?

Ender: I LOVE my OS Giken Twin Plate... i'll definantly be keeping it for a while. Depends what sort of power you are chasing. I think also the style of the friction plate makes a difference. Little pucks means there is more pressure on a smaller surface, which means that it's much more bitey and has less slippage. A bigger surface area will mean that you can slip it a bit and it's smoother on take off. Having 2 plates like in the OS Giken or Daiken (or any other twin plate) means that you have more surface for contact so it grips better... and the bigger pucks means it's a little more user friendly. Depends how much you want to spen... You should be able to find Twin Plate clutches for around $900-$1500 for a second hand one in good condition. And as i've said before... i highly recommend the OS Giken Twin Plate Joel: I'm running 18's at the moment. I'm also looking for a set of 16's, one pair for the strip and one pair for drifting Cheers, Andrew

GiJOr33 replied to ultim8DTM5's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
i dropped in to the sale... busy as hell in there. Asked the focal rep a few questions about the 11" sub and what amps etc are good. I can't wait to get a sub back in my car... especially one as good as a Focal Utopia!!! -
Sydneykid... i always like to here that things are stronger then i've been led to believe! So if i pump 400rwkw off it should be able to do it all day assuming i don't always rip the gearbox through to 2nd gear and pop the clutch out which inturn induces a sharp power hit in the back wheels causing the ass end to swing all over the road untill i find 3rd gear?! :burnout: :uh-huh: I'll be glad when the block is finished and i'm ready to bolt the head on... that means not long till it's in the car! I'd better go shopping for a set of 265 tyres for the back wheels then if i want any chance of traction!

nice... but i thought moving the throttle body like that on the plenum would mean that cylinder 6 (closest to the windscreen) runs lean (or is it rich) as iit doesn't get as much air. Has anyone thought of doing twin throttle bodies? Is the Rigoli drive in drive out based on the stock bottom end or do they put in forged pistons and better rids too? and do they pull the engine out and put it back in, bolting the head on etc? or do you give them the block crank and sump and they just build the bottom end for you? meaning that you have to put the head on and put it in the car...?

What gearbox does try09 use? I'm tipping that if you want to go any more than 320rwkw in a GTSt then you'd need to look at gearbox upgrade... and that will be very expensive! Has anyone tried mating a supra 6sp up? do they handle much more power? Or are you better off spending the money on a better gear set for the GTSt gearbox?

Anyone know what these Wheels are?
GiJOr33 replied to GiJOr33's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah, i think they are as well... i had a look at www.ozzytyres.com.au the other day and the first page has very similar wheels... i had a look at the Work lineup and the VS KF's look like the ones! Thanks Andrew -
I've got an OS Giken Twin plate in my skyline at the moment... absolutely fantastic clutch... it's not on/off, but it is heavier and a little more bitey than the stock one. That will definantly be going in when the new engine is done
-
I spose you could always grind off the old engine number and stamp on the one from ya RB25 engine Illegal i'd say, but who's gonna know!!!

i reckon they'd look better if they were darker in the middle... almost black but not quite. Like a dark gun metal grey mad wheels though! -

what do you think of their Amplifiers? I've always found them very good... but get an Audison and you'll see what a good amp is! -
