  1. that was my point earlier in the piece. ive had multiplates & imo NOTHING comes close to JB's clutches for strength, driveability & gentleness on the drivetrain. mine has never shuddered BUT those multiplates ive had would shudder on any rpm - i always felt like i was hurting the car.
  2. my adm is basking in the sun today - reminds me of a supermodel on a beach, sun baking in a black bikini yes i think my gtr is sexy
  3. That is one of the best r34s I've seen! Is that a factory colour? Almost looks like one of top secrets cars
  4. all pm's responded to guys - sorry about the delay
  5. Out of interest, how would u rank from the least to most regarded r34 when looking at the vspec, vspec2, n1, z-tune, mspec etc?
  6. That is driver related. U can smash a box on worlds softest clutch, yet u can retain a box with a multi plate clutch if u are not rough. I've had a triple, twin and jim berry...I will never go back to a multi plate clutch for the reason that they are too brutal on the driveline and are way too aggressive to drive. The best test, let your girlfriend/wife drive the car
  7. Not much at all. I'm hoping I put more than 1000km per year on it though. The last guy put only 4000km on it in the last 5years.
  8. This is worth reading...taken from wikipedia: Z-Tune Nismo originally designed the concept of the Z-tune in 2002 when Nissan was putting an end to the R34 Skyline production. The first Z-tune was built in 2003, using a used 2002 Skyline GT-R V-Spec II. It was built with a concept RB26DETT 'Z1' engine. This engine was based on Nissan's Le Mans GT2 and GT500 racing experiences. As with the racing vehicles a strengthened engine block and stroked crankshaft were utilized. The engine was also bored. With the new displacement of 2.8L and upgraded turbo-chargers the Z1 produced 370 kW (500 hp). The Z-Tune had a 0–100 km/h (0–60 mph) time in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of over 195 mph.[citation needed] Nismo was then given the approval from Nissan to build Z-tune models for the Nismo anniversary. Nismo then purchased 20 used R34 GT-R V-Specs, each with less than 18,000 miles (29,000 km) on the clock, they were then completely stripped and were resprayed to a "Z-tune Silver," a special color exclusively for the Z-tune.[18] For each of the 20 production models, the 2.8L engine was revised to allow it to reach 8000 rpm. The turbochargers were supplied by IHI in Japan. The engine is advertised as making as much as 370 kW (500 hp) (for warranty reasons). This second revision of the Z-tune engine is called the 'Z2'. The bodywork is designed with the same functional components used in Nismo's GT500 racing cars, such as engine bay vents on the hood and fenders, as well as wider fenders for wider wheels. The Z-tune is also improved with an aggressive suspension setup from Sachs, and a specially designed Brembo e brake system. The entire car is essentially handmade, with the car being completely stripped and re-built from the chassis up. Engineers reinforced and stiffened the chassis seam welding in key areas such as the door seams and door frames and added carbon fiber to the strut towers and transmission tunnel and the engine bay, completely redesigning the suspension, drivetrain, engine, gearbox and other components so as to work at maximum efficiency and reliability as is expected of a road-going vehicle. Although Nismo planned on building 20 cars, they ceased production on only 19 (including 2 prototypes).[19] The Z-tune is often regarded as the most expensive (prices for some have been known to exceed US$180,000) street legal GT-R ever built.[citation needed]
  9. Here is a better pic, not side shot but pretty close and shows offset better
  10. richard - your gtr has undergone some serious transformation from what it was in 04 - good job
  11. How many z tunes were built?
  12. As I've quoted more than a few times, shuffle was never an issue on my rb2630 with gtrs's. On my rb26 it is much more apparent but this is due to the vipec tune + my cams are also on 0 degrees. I think with further tuning ian, you will be happy as gtrs's seem to run efficiently when making 230kw per turbo hence also taking you to your target 450kw
  13. There definitely is something special about the z-tune
  14. Thanks for correcting me paul, 0.64 rears of course. Turbo specs are something I've never really taken much notice of. -5s might be an option, not sure if it will take you to 450awkw though on pump 98?
  15. I also ran a split twin turbo pipe with my gtrs's and was a good mod to stop shuffle. Would it be easy enough to change the (rear?) housings on the gtrs's so that they are similar spec to the Garrett -5s? I remember 'giant' from sau compared his stock manifolds to the hks items on his octane r32gtr and he actually lost mid range with hks manifolds, and they are prone to cracking + it doesn't look stock. 1 fuel pump with 700cc's and stock rail/fpr is just awesome...just goes to show how the high specs used when the gtr was developed
  16. Have u calibrated your actuators on the gtrs's to eliminate shuffle? Also, a balance pipe running between the 2 exhaust manifolds will definitely take away all of your shuffle as this was proven on TWO06L's gtr. I'm also interested in your fuel system setup (fuel pumps, injectors) and I apologise in advance as I'm sure you've covered this off in an earlier post.
  17. And they are rwd, yuk. U can't beat awd for traction IMO, the gtr is the ultimate
  18. do you own that z-tune bobby? i remember back in 05' when dominic @ autostyle had a z-tune in his showroom - what a machine!
  19. ^ beautiful gtr, what rims are u running?
  20. 1 of my mates is running over 320rwkw in his gtst & that is a scary handful asit breaks out in 3rd gear under acceleration...i couldnt even imagine what its like with 550rwkw. it would be frighteningly good though
  21. hahaaaaa - really?
  22. Here here lol
  23. Well I broke my gtr box on 365awkw but much more strain with awd.
  24. The stealth bomber definitely commands respect and IMO when it comes to large displacement rb's, rips are the global masters as Robbie has helped me a lot in the past.
