  1. Whoa guys, leave and come back to this, I have much respect for hi-tech I think you will find that different dynoes(eg ones on floors compared to ones that sit up on ramps) is the difference in strapping, not the individual person. You can strap a car a lot tighter when the dyno is on ramps .No ones fault, just different setups.
  2. If you strap it loose and let the tyres up on the front rollers, you will get a higher reading:), this trick has been proven many times in dyno comps before here and interstate. You can apparently also overspeed the dyno by getting it up on the front roller and let it wheelsping hard on it and get a fudged figure aswell with big power cars I'm confused, why would you get more traction on the front roller, there is more surface area when you car is on both rollers! the same reason you tyres get a lot hotter! they are actually touching something!
  3. I hated that jerkyness from 1st to 2nd, that's why i put the manual valve body in, fixed that cheers darren
  4. R31 skyline, Rb30, Gt42 roller 378rwkw on 23psi, pump fuel Mv automatics Re401RA trans manual valve body custom second gear hub stage 2 shift kit trans cooler presently no 1/4 mile time as we have no track and i can't get the auto to be reliable at the moment it is back at Mv's again might be to much power for it, so you will have to look at the 300zx/patrol box for over 300rwkw, or a powerglide/3 speed jatco etc maybe, he is disecting it at the moment cheers darren
  5. Be careful, the pistons are like porcelain, they blow ringlands at any time. You will have to limit it to 80rwkw and keep boost under 10psi. Shaun ex apprentice built one using my old parts (cam, turbo, intercooler) on a 5 k , it made 100rwkw on 12psi. Mine made 156rwkw on pump fuel:), arguably the worlds most powerful toyota K motor.
  6. Tilbrooks, 2 cars got tuned there the night before, one dropped 30rwkw to 230rwkw one dropped 50+ 348rwkw from 405rwkw, they both weren't happy cheers 'darren
  7. I don't think the dickhead was celebrating, more like having a sook as it read 50rwkw less than the dyno happy dyno he tuned it on the night before:) Apparently it has blown up now..what a pity cheers darren
  8. Wanted: Rb26 rocker cover, if it doesn't have the cam cover, that is fine cheers darren
  9. They defintily don't have oil squirters, i just transfered everything across into a Na block for a cheap rebuild. Pistons , cam, oil pump, intake manifold are about it. cheers darren
  10. You'll get a good painter for $10 a hour:) cheers darren
  11. I have a kit ready to go on my skyline next, alone with a CDI ignition system, results so far have been encouraging, tried it on the workshops turbo racecar and could add 6 degrees of timing straight away cheers darren
  12. which motor, they banged a few in that thing, when they had it:) cheers darren
  13. See i have a sense of humour:), It's not drift look to me, it's jap circuit battle, time attack styles to me,Like the Garage Sorearse(saurus) GTR and GTR's use those style of rims and vented bonnets for drags aswell, but yeah, everyone is going to think it's a drifter now...... funny as... cheers darren
  14. All the darrens are in adelaide aswell, Just to make it funnier, i got DRIFTEKS in 17x8,17x9 and a vented bonnet now, ha,ha, just need a manual:) cheers darren
  15. Ha, ha, you have me wrong, how can i be one-eyed drag racing??????? I love circuit work, and the hillclimb is awesome., I might go to collingrove in this thing, I actually will probally go to a super sprint when i fit the 32 four spots., and go muck around with Shaun and the boys. Of course you are going to support drift anyway deluxe, you sell all you stuff to the peeps:) ha,ha funny as, how many darrens are around this joint anyway:) cheers darren
  16. It is easy, out of all forms of motorsport, drift attracts the most tryhard wankers and posers. It isn't taking anything away from drag racing or circuit work, it attracts a complety different type of person usually. I don't doubt you need a high skill level to do it. I just can't wait till owning a modified car isn't "trendy" anymore:), it like a fashion accesories these days, and drifting makes it worse, that's why i dislike it. Secondly, you can talk about racing all you like, i did track days in my last car at mallala, it would cost around $300-400 for a day, i also raced it at collingrove hillclimb, been there done that. Enjoyable but way to expensive, i am sure drift would be worse, especially if you stack it thirdly, you can't compare some taxi rep auto car to a 600+hp auto turbo car, complety different ends of the scales. My car pins you in the seat like a jet taking off, absolutely awesome feeling. To me HP has and always will rule cheers daren
  17. Even the best drivers in the world, can;t drive a manual 350rwkw turbo car well, you can't feather the throttle, because boost comes on like a sledgehammer. It all comes down to havin a drag radial at that level IMHO. Autos are easier, because the gears are spread longer(theres only 3) it';s easier as it softens the blow on the boost transition, and you can play with the throttle better. This is for 4 and 6cyl cars, 350rkwkw turbo ls1's are apparently easy to drive. By the way, R31's, don't handle:), and i raced my last car around mallala, that is a very expensive exercise, over that , and drifting is like one big wanker magnet, i like my car with no defect:) cheers darren
  18. What george and theo/gt autosound car.....everyones there mates aren't they Full weight, manual supras have gone 8.9 at 170mph in the states........that's impressive. while you might think 350rwkw in a manual street car is very driveable, i can tell you while it feels fast, the 12 sec ls1 will still be door handle to door handle with you on the street, and the auto will be 300m down the rd, before you have stopped spinning, i see this every weekend. My mates have nearly all taken the manuals out of there cars for autos now, as they got sick of getting waxed by nearly stock auto vl turbos, with baby converters and coolers. I am running a stock converter at the moment 4 dr, i have a 3500rpm one here, but it is to hard to tune the car on the dyno as it is, with all the line pressure behind it. Once fully tuned i will fit it. I will probally put a KEAS 3 speed in it with a transbrake next though, if this trans gives me anymore probs. For your combo, i would probally put a 2800rpm behind it, i had one before. It seems to be the biggest you can go before it affects general driveability, and it still locks up on the highway ok, i drove to Melbourne and back with mine, it wasn't bad., Good street converter. cheers darren
  19. Absolute wanker...the car would be ALOT slower from a standing start or actually even a roll on with a manual, it would just wheelspin on the spot keeping up with 12 sec cars ,waste of money. But i have full traction now once it hits second, and it is a animal on the street, bikes hate it cheers darren
  20. Yep 378rwkw on 23psi, with a lame tune, 2 degrees less timing than what we would run, and 11.5 a/f ratios. I have somehow become head tester of these Electronic Jatco's. I broke the first version(blew 2nd gear hub to pieces) after the first 4 days of 315rwkw on 16psi. I now have the first aftermarket hub, 3 times stronger than the original. The clutches seem to be coping with the power. The problem i am having now, is the box is selecting 2nd and the first clutch in 3rd at the same time, and i keep losing gears for no reason then they come back. Mike is currently designing a new shift servo to fix this, while the car is getting painted. I make 680nm of torque(around 10,500N) in top gear (3rd), the car physically will not stay on the dyno in 2nd. The massive torque hit with the GT42 is what killed the 2nd gear hub. cheers darren
  21. It' ok, Matt has me sorted. I wanted 275's or nothing, i wanted one particular tyre to fit(275 MT et streets) so i have traction(378rwkw). cheers] darren
  22. Wanted to beg, borrow or buy 2x275/40/17's i need them pronto as my R31 is in the crash shop getting painted and i get my rims this week. I need the tyres to see how much work there is to physically fit them on the car before the bodywork is finished, Even if i can get them for just one weekend it will be fine, no offer refused:) cheers darren
  23. Thanks guys, i needed a laugh, me and my wife where in tears after reading the start of the thread, To the thread starter, thanks for being a good sport, don't take it personally cheers daren
  24. It is just hard to find bald 275/40/17, they aren't at your local tyre shop and don't come in retreads:) Whats the booby prize for guessing the turbs:), Anglela is due on aug 2nd aswell , so big year:) Cammed ls1's are killer:), that would be quick on the street cheers darren
