  1. Most common mistake we see with deadlifting is people starting with their hips too low, trying to squat the weight up. Deadlift is predominantly a back movement, glutes, hammies, quads, traps etc all play a part, but squatting the weight up is wrong if your goal is too pull a big weight. In early June last year I went to PTC Perths opening. Dan had trouble with his dead, he'd been stuck on 180kg from memory for ever, maybe 190kg. He asked for help, and after watching him squat the weight up, I asked him to start with his hips higher. Next rep he pulled 200kg for the first time after missing it for 2 years. At Nats this year he pulled 220kg, still in the same 82.5kg weight class. He gained 30-40kg in 12 months after being stuck for 2 years. Good move Birds

  7. Never happened mate, unless it was equipped. Dan's were raw. The All Time equipped record at 110kg is Juma Someroja with 1222.5kg You said 98kg, so thats the 100kg class. Andrey Belyaev went 950kg raw. Dan Green will smash that, he missed his last deadlift to beat it without wraps recently. Dan will take this record in 2014. I think he plans to hit 1000kg raw in the 110's before he drops back down. Equipped 100kg class All Time record is Shawn Frankl with 1231.5kg As far as a raw 300kg bench at 98kg, lol. The ALL Time raw bench record is 264kg by Mike McDonald in 1979, the greatest bencher of all time in my opinion Makes you wonder with all these fancy training routines and supplements in the last 35 years how nobody has been able to beat this lift, considering its THE most popular lift in a very popular weight class
  8. All Time, any Fed, any country. No one has ever lifted more raw in the 110kg class
  9. Most people miss the real cause of their problems I get guys in here that are obese, and they explain they have to start training again as they've put on weight Not training didnt make them obese, the food they ate did Same applies with programs. Some lament the fact they've been on the wrong program, hence why they've made no progress. I bet Martin and Max could make aesome gains on a crap program. But these are just words. You need to see what training really is. Why do new clients here make unbelievable progress when they join? Because they can see how hard the better lifters actually train. Once you can train like that, and everything it entails, only then will the program be very important. Until that stage, swapping 3 x 6 for 4 x 8 or 5 x 5 is the most insignificant thing you can do in the gym. I keep telling people, Nina is the least talented powerlifter in the gym, yet she has 26 World Records and the guys wont train with her. Why? On Thursday she did GVT (German Volume Training). Squats 60kg x 10 x 10 with 60sec rest, followed by bench press 50kg x 10 x 10 with 60sec rest. She felt she hadnt done enough. I had mentioned at the Tassie Fit Expo a lady won the KB swing CrossFit challenge with 75 swings with a 12 kg KB in 2m27s, so she did that and smashed the time. Again, its just words, very different when you see it, and very few outside our gym understand it.
  10. I spent some time with the US powerlifters that just competed in Tassie. Eric Lilliebridge had chocolate milk with him 24/7 Brandon Lilly drank 4 litres of it during breakfast, every day he was here Kirill Sarychev had 40 litres of milk sent to his room when he arrived, I have no idea how he stored it, maybe he just drank it all, he has benched 315kg raw after all These boys redefined big eaters, it was an eye opener to my crew
  11. To keep this thread upbeat Not only do we have a fridge and microwave, we also have a BBQ. In the better weather its steaks all round. Its fair to say eating plays a big role at PTC Across the road we have a supermarket, BBQ chicken shop, bakery, fish and chips and a noodle bar, directly across the road, a 2 minute stroll. Two minutes up the road is KFC and Mickey D's If someone arrives to the gym late, they generally bring a big bag of burgers Another favourite is chocolate milk, always have litres of it in my fridge The supplement bar only has RTD protein shakes and protein bars
  12. Mitch, this is not the place for the debate, I'll leave it with saying I'm 51 years old, and the effects of alcohol compared to the effects of AAS are 100% worse, in what I have seen in my time. Alcohol destroys societies. I would be absolutely gutted if my kids drank, gutted. Actually that goes for my entire powerlifting team, not one drinker amongst the swollen crew. I think we should leave this alone, I am outnumbered 1,000 to 1 on here.
  13. Side effects, you mean of drinking and smoking, right?
  14. Of all the kids there, Max was the last one they should be concerned with
  15. I have to tell you guys this story. Earlier in the year I was at a very close mates sons 21st, a boy Max grew up with. Around 200 drunk kids running around, 90% of parents pissed, typical 21st The topic with the dads got to the size of Max, when one asked " your not going to let Max get on the gear are you " I asked if they were going to let there kids drink alcohol and smoke. Strangely they didnt see it as the same thing.
